    - determine if two triangles are congruent by using SSS, SAS, ASA or RHS congruence test
    - determine if two triangles are similar by using AAA, SSS or SAS similarity test.
    - solve geometry problems involving congruence and similarity.

    Hey there, I'm a G.C.S.E. student revising for a unit test tomorrow. This compact guide has been most helpful in allowing me to quickly go over all the basics of this topic. Thank you very much, Sir, and I shall be announcing my test results here!

    For the SSS, isn't AD=CB?

    • @mathmusicSG
      @mathmusicSG  8 років тому +1

      +Keith Toh yes that's right. In fact, if you are very particular about the order of vertices even for line segments, that should be the answer. However, for AD = CB (or AD = BC), we are considering only the lengths, so in that sense, there is no difference between CB and BC.

    how about the AAS?

    • @mathmusicSG
      @mathmusicSG  7 років тому +5

      AAS is the same as ASA and SAA.
      Why is this so? With two known angles, you can easily find the 3rd angle (sum of angles in a triangle is 180 degrees). Hence if the first two pairs of angles in the triangles are equal, we can immediately imply that the third pair of angles are equal. With that, an AAS test is also the same as an ASA test, or SAA test.
      Note that, however, you cannot do the same for SAS, SSA or ASS.
