Cut aparts are the STAR of the show!
Do you get those 12x12 paper packs and have no idea how to use those cut aparts? Maymay shows us how to make them the star!
So gather up those supplies and let's create!!!
~~Measurements~~
Folio Base: you will need 4 pieces of cardstock that measures 8.50" x 11"
(2) ~ take two sheets of the cardstock and on the 11" side score at 2.25" ~~ 8.25" ~~ 9.25"
(1) ~ take one sheet of the cardstock and on the 11" side score at 2.25" ~~ 8"
(1) ~ take one sheet of the cardstock and on the 11" side score at 5.50"
Covers/Spines/Pages these measurements will vary depending on how you score and what elements that you add.

Your tip of keeping a notepad and writing notes along the way & then writing the measurements on the base page are so super helpful along the way! Help on the fly for when it’s hard to plan ahead, lol.
I consider my first project the practice run anyway and helps you work out the design kinks/mistakes, to you know help you “plan out” the next one better.
I love making folios! I started last year with one of yours. I love how you are using the one inch folio and adding elements to it. I also love that you didn’t edit out your mistakes, and adjusted the folio. No one is perfect, and these usually become happy accidents! ❤

And thank you for sharing and SHOWING were mistakes can happen and how to fix them. I feel like I learn so much to see how to fix the corners, or if you mis-cut adjusting for corrections along the way.. you make it like simple
On the magnet for the flippy piece, I always cover the magnet with sticky tape. Works perfect.

I was not sure I if I would be able to command this project or not until I watched this video. I can't afford Art Glitter Glue, but I don't use tacky glue either. I use Aileen's Fabric Fusion glue. It seems to have a similar consistency to A.G.G. It very fluid, can be applied thinly, dries quickly and it dries clear. It comes in a large bottle, but you can also get a small one with a fine tip. I get the large one for refills and use the small one for my paper crafts. I recommend it to anyone on a tight budget, like myself.
I've made the uneven spine mistake several times. At first I started over, but now I just fix it and go on. Honestly, the green stripe is strikingly attractive and I'm hoping you leave it, maybe use a cut apart for the closure but let the stripe be. I bet it'll be just as attractive on the underneath side!

Great video, Maymay...and yes, seeing how you think through these decisions is very helpful. What I'd have done about that smaller spine is to do an insert...split it down the center and then add a 7/8" piece and glue both sides to it. It would probably have given that side extra stability too. Looking forward to part two!

There is a quick dry tacky glue that I got because it's cheap and they had it at my local craft store. I put it in a squeeze bottle with a needle point, and with those thin lines it dries pretty quickly.

In Michigan, what you call a sleigh, we call a sled. A sleigh is usually pulled by a horse or reindeer. I have noticed different parts of the country call what is pictured a sleigh. Just funny how different parts of the country call things different.

When I need a magnet, I mark an x on the page and circle it. Sometimes helps me remember!
I am not immune from making mistakes! Once things were so off and I was upset so I did throw it out and restarted immediately. Usually I do what you did and cover my mistake and no one is aware of it except me.

I would have done it like you did. Don’t forget to re- measure the paper.
I would have found a way to fix it. I would not scrap it after all that work. You came up with an easy solution.
If I hadn't been able to figure out your fix, I'd have left the spines uneven. No one but me would probably notice.
On screen it looks like the spines are different sizes. Did you say both are 1 inch? Just checking before I make one to make sure I'm not goofed up. Thanks for sharing with us.
