Years ago my brother worked for a company in Florida that still did house calls for broken televisions. He met Ms. Lamarr on a house call and she called him "Kind Mike." He said he walked into the little apartment and as he was waiting began to notice framed photos of Hollywood stars. He went on to retire from Lockheed after being in electronics for 45 years and appreciated her brilliance. He loves to tell the story of how he met the most beautiful woman in the world!

Hedy Lamarr will always be remembered for the movies and her unique role in History and her work at MGM. This invention is certainly going to put her on the map, but Hedy Lamarr was already on the map and big time! She and Greta Garbo will always be remembered as the most beautiful women in the World during the time they lived and far into the future as Nefertiti is remembered today. Fellow Actress Luise Rainer made that statement in one of her 1980 interviews in regards to the beauty of Greta Garbo and comparing Garbo's beauty to that of Nefertiti. As Louis B. Mayer liked to be said of his MGM Studio........"There are more Stars at MGM than there are in the Heaven's" and Louis B. Mayer gave Garbo, Rainer and Hedy Lamarr the jobs they had at the Queen of the Studios in Hollywood...Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer! I think Mr. Mayer had more going for him than many people would give him the credit for in selecting Stars to work at MGM.

I think she was very good in "Boomtown" with Clark Gable and she had a couple good scenes in "Ziegfield Girl". I read her book "Ecstacy and Me" and it a was very honest account of her life. I know she tried to have it not published but it wasn't bad...not great.. but not bad.
Her daughter is as breathtakingly gorgeous! The boys very handsome....Having mom's from the 20's Era was difficult for all of us. (Lucille Ball, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis generation) These women put their careers first....a bit of narcissist behavior...but we survived...Writing a book on this topic..
@@julietspaintings Thank you. My mother (born in 1919, and a really extraordinary person: Born to a well to do family, she was studying opera at the Royal Academy of Music in London when WWII broke out. She left school and joined the ambulance corps. So, when London was being bombed, she was out, driving around the city rescuing people)... married twice and was left by each husband, the 1st time with a two year old. My father left before I was born (I met him later and we had a good relationship despite his being bi-polar). So, my mother HAD TO go to work. I think a far more interesting book would be the narcissism of men who just decide they're done with one family ... and go off to start another. The men who have left generations and generations and generations of children behind them feeling as if THEY didn't matter... and the mothers who stayed behind, found work and MADE IT WORK. I know there ARE women who are narcissistic ... but in my 64 years, and especially having been fascinated by my parents era (the 30s, 40s and 50s), and having studied film ... I am more horrified by how much abuse (a lot of it verbal and disguised as so called 'humour') women put up with (1957's Pal Joey with Sinatra. I could barely watch it, I was so disgusted. And it was considered 'the norm' for that era) and even made excuses for ... there's a line out of Lili (1953 with Leslie Caron) I'll never forget: "He's mean... but he doesn't mean it." THAT's what women did; subjugated themselves, made excuses for men and their behaviours ... and carried on bravely, putting up with all kinds of indignities... ... Hedy Lamarr's invention and how she was treated when she presented it, illustrates this point perfectly.
Thank you for this interview. Very interesting to know more about Hedy and her family. Shame they did not mention Mr Loder he was also handsome and an actor. Great overall
Heddy Lamar is my favorite actress from that era. I first saw her when i was 10 years old, while spending the night at my grandma’s house. The late show came on and it was Sampson and Delilah. It was the best movie i ever saw and it’s still my favorite🎁🌺❤️

Odd that she didn't even know or pronounce the name of the movie correctly? Strange that people know so little about Hedy Lamarr's movies today, even her own daughter!
Maybe Johnny Depp will create a movie. He just wrote a song and performs with the great guitarist Jeff Beck. Its called "This is a song for Moss Hedy Lamar.' It is sooo good!

I think she was very good in "Boomtown" with Clark Gable and she had a couple good scenes in "Ziegfield Girl". I read her book "Ecstacy and Me" and it a was very honest account of her life. I know she tried to have it not published but it wasn't bad...not great.. but not bad.
I have not read it but want to - thanks for your thoughts Mallory and for listening.
The female Tesla while wearing high heels. Genius
Interesting. Did you know that Tesla was also educated in Austria, Graz.
Miss. Hedy Lamarr ~ greatest actress of all time. Beauty within and out.
Yes ! she was one of a kind.
Funny that people don't say that about men putting their careers first.
Oh wow! what is the book Brigitte? That sounds extremely interesting!
@@julietspaintings crickets 🦗

I'm just like Denise Loder DeLuca as an artist, If I do a portrait of someone, I have to like them too.
That makes a lot of sense to me as well
What a fantastic interview!
Thank you!
Thank you for this interview. Very interesting to know more about Hedy and her family. Shame they did not mention Mr Loder he was also handsome and an actor. Great overall
thank you so much for listening
SHE SEEMED LIKE A COOL WOMAN REST IN PEACE HEADY GODBLESS YOU 🙏AMEN 🕊🦋🌹💐🌷❤
❤️
Great interview! Great job!
Thank you SO much!
Heddy Lamar is my favorite actress from that era. I first saw her when i was 10 years old, while spending the night at my grandma’s house. The late show came on and it was Sampson and Delilah. It was the best movie i ever saw and it’s still my favorite🎁🌺❤️
That’s so awesome. She was beautiful and seemed like an interesting, talented and extremely intelligent person.
Thank you for this interview... I just took a look at Denise's web site and I am gobsmacked at how beautiful her work is. My style of art is very similar to hers... I love realism and her work just breathes. Very beautiful!
I am so glad you enjoyed the interview. She is a lovely woman and I agree that her work is fabulous.
We met her in Florida in the 1980's. I think she lived near Orlando.
Oh how cool to have gotten to meet her!!
Odd that she didn't even know or pronounce the name of the movie correctly? Strange that people know so little about Hedy Lamarr's movies today, even her own daughter!
Exactly someone should make a movie of her life it would be well worth watching
I wish there was a biography of hedi Lamar rest in peace rest in peace
Maybe Johnny Depp will create a movie. He just wrote a song and performs with the great guitarist Jeff Beck. Its called "This is a song for Moss Hedy Lamar.' It is sooo good!
@@desiderata333 funnily enough his ex wife Amber Heard, comes across like the unpleasant Femme Fatale Jenny. So well played by Hedy , in the film The Strange Woman.
Solid interview. Recall viewing “Samson and Delilah” at a Drive-In Movie on Long Island, New York when it was first released (December 21, 1949)-Hedy was terrific! Her beauty was only surpassed by her intellect! Joan Bennett bears a remarkable resemblance to Hedy and was an amazing actress as well!
Thank you for listening. I will have to look up Joan Bennett. I agree that Hedy was a wonderful actress and intelligent and so beautiful.
She was soooo BEAUTIFUL.....
I agree and so smart and talented.
Amazing woman.
I agree completely!
No wonder she loved Austria. It is absolutely gorgeous.
From the photos and video I have seen, it looks simply beautiful.
@@julietspaintings I visited there last year. It is breathtaking.
@@teetarquin7012 I would love to travel there as well. You must have had a wonderful time!
It’s pretty stunning. The train trip between Salzburg and Verona, Italy is one for the ages.
@@julietspaintingsif you do, go to Salzburg first. Then Vienna. Salzburg is so distinctly “Austrian” even in comparison to Vienna. Then be sure to go to Budapest, Hungary. One of the most fascinating, elegant cities in Europe. They were part of the same empire, as I’m sure you know, and it is so interesting to see the differences, and the similarities.
Thanku Johnny Depp for the most beautiful song about this amazing lady ! 🙋♥️♥️♥️
yes - a really great song and Hedy Lamarr was an incredibly interesting, talented, intelligent and beautiful person.
She was defo one of the most beautiful women in the world and smart
I SO agree Margaret.
Wonderful painting 👍
SHE WAS A SCREEN GODDESS LEGEND A GENIOUS INVENTOR OF BLUETOOTH AND WI FI .........
Just an amazing person.
I had the privilege of knowing Hedy through her grandson. She was a kind and remarkable woman.
that is so cool! i bet she was a wonderfully interesting person.
Wow.
She gave her son away ! Said he was adopted and he was not ! (Proven by DNA) she wasn’t that kind
@@lianeoneill2880 there are 2 sides 2 every story. The Heddy I knew was smart, witty, and kind.

2. Clean kitchen
3. Invent new rocket guidance system to improve allied defence
4. Clean bathroom
5. Photoshoot
That is true and a very funny way to put it. : )

I am interested in her because of Johnny Depp and john Beck music about her
That's great Pam. She was definitely as very interesting, smart and beautiful person.

Same it was JD song that made me want to find out who he was singing about
It is great that Johnny Depp wrote the song about her. It has brought so much awareness to her and what she did.
Lamar's inventions eventually generated a billion dollars. She never saw a dime of it and died penniless.
That is so sad. And do unfair.
That really is awful. She deserved to be recognized before she died

that makes me sooooo sad. May she Rest In Peace.
True… So sad😔😔😔
Such a beautiful & talented lady.
May indeed she rest in peace🙏🏼🌈
Woman with a Calling! Way ahead of her time, God given!
Yes! So ahead of her time - I agree Fred.
Absolutely sounded like the intelligent aspect of her life was supressed because she was a woman just as many women were at the time. She definitely was her own woman and did things her own way !! Fabulous actress !!
I agree Sherrel and so sad. Such an intelligent and creative mind!
Recently watched Bombshell. Heartbreaking but so very inspirational. The magnitude of her innovated contribution to the world is mindboggling! How she isn't a poster gal for girls in STEM and that I'm just hearing of this part of her..🤯 [the irony is not lost on me as a poster gal..]
💔😪
I agree it was a very heartbreaking movie. And Hedy Lamar is an inspiration to every person.
Great interview -- Vic Alexander
Thanks so much Vic
She dropped her adopted son off at military school and never went back for him.
Wow she has the tone and the way of speaking exactly like her mom ❤
💜💜
i love you Hedy!
I think it's awesome that Johnny Depp paid tribute to Hedy LaMarr. Believe it or not I learned about Hedy L. from old movies! I love movies from the 1940s-1970s. I'm a huge old movie buff! I did know of her status as an inventor though but only because of her movies. She certainly was a beautiful and intelligent woman.
I agree. I was so excited when I heard the song and have been a long time fan of Hedy Lamarr.
@@julietspaintings I've never even heard the song! I'll have to check it out. I always thought she looked a little bit like Vivien Leigh, just not so skinny😊
@@mindyengledow6860 I bet you'll love it. It is a really reattribute to her. I agree about the similarities to Vivien Leigh - another very beautiful, talented and complex woman.

She was born strong and fearless she was a lone wolf I did not know of her til last night I’m sure I saw her in movies daddy watched but didn’t know I think
