    Finally took the time to follow your tutorial and make a coaster. Why is it you go to the Bambu with a STEP file vs. STL. I am assuming is it allows you to color the object easier in the Bambuu slicer - but jus checking because I am learning the slicer still

    Good tutorial. If I followed correctly in F360 by the time it was done you had a perfectly flat top with the different colors by the sequence of extrudes you did. I may ave missed a step. You exported to a STP fil instead of an STL ir directly to the Bambuu Slizer. If you had exported directly via 3D printing to the Bambu Slizer would you have lost the ability to apply the filament colors by selecting them with a component the way you did? In short, do you always export as STEP fil and go to Bambu Printer vs. STL?

    Great video - but the issue I'm having is after you've created the 'back' component (with the whole selection) I'm unable to then select the individual areas (ie. the letters etc.) - the whole thing gets selected.

      @@traj00 Yeah, you have to spin the whole thing around once you’ve extruded the ‘Back’. You can then select the individual sections as shown. It’s not pointed out on the video but that works. Hope that helps!

    I put my friend's baby's face and name on one. If you watch over the print, when it starts to fill the text after 0.5mm (in my example below) do a color change, let it complete the layers to fill in the text, then switch back to the first filament and your text will be another color. Use a PEO print bed plate and it can be smooth like glass and if you get one with a hologram in the print bed, it'll be on the coaster.

How to reduce to amount of bodies/points? is this done prior to bringing the image into F360 at the converter level?

    Wait! We raised up the logo in f360, then we flipped it over in the slicer. Thats not flat though, its just printing that raised section on the bed, the rest is hovering one layer up. That doesn't seem right. I'm not saying it won't "melt" together. It may work but its technically incorrect. I'm printing now so if it looks ok, I guess the answer is, don't worry, be happy, lol

    • @SteveInScotland
      @SteveInScotland 5 місяців тому

      Yeah, it was not happy printing in mid-air and I ended up with a failed print. Print it the right way up and it’s fine but useless as a coaster as the image is raised up.

    I as well, can not get the TB to highlight where I can choose the colors. I think I get lost at the -4mm extrusion part. I extrude it to -4mm but it sends the TB to the back of the coaster I can see it through the side profile in the sketch. The TB is at the very back of the round plate and I can see the TB but is in the rear or back of the coaster but will only allow the whole circle to be highlighted. When I flip the coaster to the back the TB can be highlighted but only a few of the lines will highlight purple and not the interior of the letter. I have extruded the parts of the TB 1mm and -1mm to see the difference on your video it clearly shows a raised portion of the TB but mine is not Raised off the coaster. When you extrude the Part to -4mm it sends the TB to the back through the coaster. I have tried to do 4mm and it shows a raised logo but still will not allow me to highlight the individual parts of the TB to color it. I have followed your video 20 times and paused it in between to try to see your settings and figure out where I may be doing something wrong. Please clarify what to click on to extrude. This seems really straightforward but I have been missing a simple process most likely.. Was a great tutorial by the way.. Just lost Anyone please chime in as well too.. Truly appreciate the assistance..

      This appears to be a sketch orientation issue as I had the same results initially. Instead of using Front for the initial sketch plane, use Top and perform the same steps outlined in Ryan's video. Not a Fusion expert to describe why, but I could see the SVG attaching to the back of the extrusion with the Front orientation.

  • @isthattrue1083
    @isthattrue1083 6 місяців тому +5

    I could do this in my sleep. Fusion seems intimidating... it's not. It's you over thinking it. Coasters are simple. Find the logo you want. Convert it to SVG file format. Open fusion, create sketch on bottom plane, make a circle to the size you want the coaster, insert your logo svg, align it the way you want. Finish the sketch. Select inside the circle and leave the logo unselected. Extrude up 0.5mm. Select the area of the extruded body. Create a sketch. Make another circle over the first circle. Finish sketch. Extrude up 4.5mm. Select the top surface. Create a sketch. Make a circle about 20mm so that the edge of the circle aligns with the edge of the part. Select the circle and then select under "Create" menu, "Circular Pattern". New menu pops up. Click "Axis". Select the middle point of part. It should automatically create three circles symmetrically around the part. Finish sketch. Select all three circles. Extrude them up 3mm. Send to print. Congratulations, you have made a drink coaster.

      @@lxxBassheadxxl I think you are running into an issue I also ran into. He his not using the default axis orientation, if you look at around 2:10 you will see his vertical axis is Y, i believe the default is Z (it was on mine anyway, maybe mine's not the default) what happens is all the extrusion measurements he does you need to do in reverse. So if he does -4mm you need to do 4mm, etc. This should leave you with the "image" on the front, instead of the back.
