There is something about going 160 mph on a hyper naked with your feet on the back pegs and your chin on the tank behind the tiny sport shield you installed over the headlight.
Wonderful complete and pleasant refresher on a confusing term I just hear this year. I grew up riding 60s through 80s bikes and am bringing a free one back to daily rider condition this year. I'm Seventy-One. My bike is a 1984 Yamaha Virago XV700. It was not loved and passed from owner to owner, seldom ridden with only 1,350ish miles after 41 years of neglect. As a soft heart for an underdog, I will give this old gal whatever love she needs and Vlog the process right into videos of local adventures in just short of a year. Thanks Meghan!
I remember when BMW introduced the R90S and a few years later the R100RS with factory fairings and every one went nuts. The Goldwing was fairingless for several years too.
i ride a scrambler because i have no desire to ride fast enough for aerodynamics to matter. i also like riding around in national forests but dont always want to be on a dirt bike
The trick with a sport fairing is to get the wind off your chest & arms yet allow your helmet to be in non-turbulent wind stream. At 6’-1” a BMW R1250RS works well for me. I can ride all day at highway speeds :).
I finally bought a bike with fairings last year. I want to be rid of them, honestly. It's so much more difficult and expensive to make any sort of modifications to bikes with fairings. Removing those fairings just to get to the parts you need to is a pain. I don't feel like they help all that much with comfort apart from the windscreen, which you can slap on just about anything.
I like the naked bikes. I have had several and still have a few. I did really like my Ninja 1000 though, and was my bike of choice for long rides where I would be on the freeway. I have done the most trekking miles on my ZRx 1200 though and love it, and won't bet rid of that one. I kept the Z900rs too
for me sports fairing bikes are good to look at, nakeds on the other hand have better riding posture, well cable managed. and better saddle space. fairing ones have cramped seat, and rider ergonomic simply not better for street use, i have a naked bike and doing a average commute of 200-300 km is painless, and fatigue free. not something can be done on sports ones in a sitting.
have a vulcan s cus i thought a cruiser would be best as a daily, but i really enjoy using my tnt135 and have even taken it on the highway. the street fighters have won me over
I'm having a huge closeout sale on motorcycle gear on our website: greatlakesupplyco.com/collections/closeout

Are those Koss Porta Pros? One of my favorites. Your description of how the streetfighter came into existence is spot on. Nice job.
I remember the old Cafe Racers and Choppers, to me growing up the stripped-down cycles of the era (70's-80's) just felt right.
These motorcycles look so sleek and powerful! Definitely no hiding with these designs 🏍

I forgot about the maintenance component! What a hassle to get around them
