      If you want the beet stain to be more long lasting you want to make dry dye out of it and put it in an oil and alcohol blend (with some wax and a little of some weak acid or weak base to adjust color), and apply that. It'll be a tinting lip balm, that you easily can reapply on the go.

    Rice flour is worn all over the world by different cultures as a face powder, if you've ever seen pictures of people fro East Asia (specifically places like Myanmar) with white or yellow circles on their cheeks it's probably rice powder they're using. In Asia for DIY eye makeup they use specially made soot instead of coal. (Just be wary of buying traditional style mass manufactured Asian kohl because lead is part of traditional ingredients, even the Egyptians used it). DIYing safe soot or buying soot/charcoal powder from reputable chemists and using it is the way to go - though keep in mind that loose carbon powders can be very explosively flammable so be careful until you have turned it into a paste...

    I love it! I'm definitely going to try the beet juice and maybe the mascara. But for the face powder: how can you match the color to your skin without a colored face powder? I've heard somewhere that cocoa powder and cinnamon might work but what is the historical acurat version of it?

    • @matildas3177
      @matildas3177 4 роки тому +6

      The face powder is from an era when they strived for pale, white skin. So it's not meant to match, just make you paler.

    • @Loepsie
      @Loepsie  4 роки тому +5

      Depends on the era, but generally pigments were available at pharmacists. They'd be used for paint and dye, but also cosmetics

      Loepsie well the off brand certainly has lovely packaging! I didn’t realize other brands could call their petroleum jelly “Vaseline” I thought it may have been a trademark so that’s why I had assumed it was from the same company but it’s all the same stuff I just like that packaging the most 💙💕😇

      I'm pretty sure vaseline is a trademark, I've never seen the name used on generic petroleum jelly before. Not sure how this brand gets away with it, they're probably just small enough to stay under the radar 😂
