They could've read the room and not included her in the first place to save everyone the headache
@@dihyaneverforget5163Or the fanbase can stop being idiots and pissed off about any character that isn't white or black showing up in the MCU look at Ms Marvel and now Sabra
@@cjgamer6356 That's not the issue. The issue is Sabra is an IDF war criminal against Palestine and that hits a little too close to home right now.
The political implications of including a character like her in this movie while the Israel-Palestine conflict is in full swing are not great. I don't think Marvel Studios wants to tie their movie to the feelings going on right now in the real world.
@@dihyaneverforget5163Only Watermelon twitter cared about this give me a break "everyone"
It’s not a bad idea to make her a former black widow.
They could've just used Yelena
@@FCB09daBESTthen you have to give her a government job
@@c17sam90 she technically does work for the government. At the same time, it wouldn’t make sense to have her in the film.
Yeah. It's a smart move.
Yeah, but at least keep her Israeli identity. If Marvel changed the ethnicity to any of its other characters, there would be accusations of racism. They could have made her a Mossad agent sent to investigate Dreykov and the Red Room/Black Widow program when he captured her and made her a Black Widow (basically Winter Soldiering her). Would have made her relationship with Sam similar to Sam's relationship with Steve in Captain America: The Winter Soldier with them connecting over their similar trauma
Movie critics act like kids
Ruth being a former Black Widow in Captain America: Brave New World is a good alternative. Last time we saw a Black Widow in the movies was in Shang-Chi, so it's great to get more connective tissue in the MCU.

@@__Luke__ the fuck does that suppose to mean
I would’ve added Union Jack/Joseph Chapman in this film.
They could but prolly a teaser
That’s actually a great idea.
The character's name doesn't invoke that massacre. It's a reference to the nickname to any Jew in Israel. It's named after the Sabra cactus aka the pricky pear. The reason why it's a nickname is because Israeli Jews are supposedly tough on the outside, but delicate and sweet on the inside like the cactus. In fact, she debuted in the comics about year before massacre therefore it's unfair and inaccurate to say her name invokes the massacre
I am totally going to be Captain America Brave New World. Hope Anthony Mackie gets two more Captain America movies after Captain America Brave New World

I really don't understand why they couldn't just have her be a regular CIA agent? why does the Black Widow program have to be a last decree for strong women that know martial arts and strategic values? i might as well be a damn Black Widow. sheesh
This is one instance where it helps to be outside the marvel fandom echo chamber. Outside of super hardcore Marvel circles, the use of an IDF character named after a massacre of Palestinians civilians in the middle of an extremely controversial conflict between Israel and Palestine is not a good idea.
I hate to say this but I see both sides. In the current climate adding a character like that can be in poor taste. However for a young middle eastern girl or any young girl to see an empowering female like that is a win. Me personally, I would just remove that character specifically and create a new one out of respect for the current situation while still providing some inspiration for younger generations. It really is that simple IMO.
She is a coloniser not middle eastern

The character was never going to resemble their comic book origins, and at best was going to be a Israeli Black-Widow or something like that who was part of GW Bridges team of mercenaries or working under cover for the big bad of the movie
Yelena being Russian isn't a problem, so this shouldn't be either.
The controversy is really about the name"sabra',it's the name that was given to a massacre that happened in palestine
@@bashengatheblackmanta7003 nigga who cares it's literally just a name
Florence Pugh didn't serve in the Russian military
Yelena and sabra are very different deals in the comics. Yelena and the black widows show corruption within the Russian government. Sabra does nothing in the comics really either than fight hulk and a dude named the Arabian knight. I don’t disagree with you, there’s potential with this character but most of it would be just making a new character.
The issue is that Sabra is part of the IDF and fights Arabs in the comics. Her political ties are very much there. If Yelena was a hyper-patriotic Russian soldier fighting Ukranians, there would be backlash.
I could care less still watching it 😂it’s a movie based on comics like really??? Stop comparing real life events to fictional characters in movies 🤦♂️ 🤦♂️ plus all u people hating on it are still gonna go watch it regardless 😝
Who are the people saying they will boycott for this or that reason especially if the movie hasn’t come out and we literally didn’t know she was in the movie because it hasn’t come out yet? Tf? What???
As long the story makes sense, that's all it matters
Bruh why does everything need to be controversial
It would've been nice to have seen her character in the movie tho 😪
I think the widow connection is awesome
The picture of the podcast, could easily resemble Madam Masque an Iron Man villain.
This isn't breaking, as it was done and reported more than 3 months ago.
Sabra as a widow makes sense with her energy quill powers. Probably be super soldier in strength, maybe with some kind of flying belt or cape.
If they are making her a Russian agent, why not just use Yelena instead to tie this with the Thunderbolts and save everyone the trouble with this nonsense?
Would it make you happy for the MCU to pretend that Jews don't exist? What should they do about Ben Grimm?
@@__Luke__ How the hell did you reach that non-sequitur?! Even for Mr. Fantastic, that would be a stretch.
And no, the MCU should not pretend that Jews don't exist, the X-Men would be more f***ed than Deadpool on a weekend in Las Vegas.
@@__Luke__ How the hell did you reach that non-sequitur?
@@__Luke__ It's either have the Jewish and/or Israeli character be Jewish and/or Israeli or don't have them at all instead of changing them to appease the Twatters.
Given the stuff the performer had shared on social media I wonder what her reaction was to the changes
What has she shared? That she loves her country and her people, and she's appalled by terrorism against them?
@@__Luke__ I don’t want to get into the politics. But looking at what’s she’s shared I can’t see her willingly taking changes that have been made and exactly being pleased with them. There is being proud of your country and being kinda nationalistic and/or blind to historical/current errors made by your country. Again I don’t want to get into politics because people will never agree which is why my comment was an objective observation about the stuff she has shared vs the origin of the character and the changes the character has had. I can’t see someone who has shared that stuff being that pleased just saying. I do think it was a complicated character to use without either drastic changes or presenting her as basically John Walker.
@@c17sam90 Much of the MCU and young creators in general are "woke" which means anti-semitic among other vile prejudices, but also much of Marvel and Hollywood is Jewish, so they should know better. I think what they're afraid of is the pro-Hamas violence and riots that are tearing apart college campuses.
For a company that loves representation and inclusion, and by that they have black characters rap all the time.
They sure don’t like cultures that they don’t like.
Well I wont be watching this Marvel movie. You caved to pressure from terrorists. No.
Who had Sabra as one of their favorite characters? What’s to like?
This is ridiculous i have sabra comics she's a great character this is why Hollywood is so shallow now because instead making it comic accurate and telling a cool story from the comics. with Sabra they changed her name and her background because they were scared of back lash from a small group of people who are not fans and on top of that are very likely anti semites . Erasing this proves Disney is full of idiots . I remember figie coming out on stage saying she would be an Israeli supersoldier which would've been dope . If it's ok to keep red guardian Russian then it's ok to keep Sabra an Israeli .and ya know why it is ok ? because this is all fictional. Hollywood needs to grow up . also false . sabra is the name of Isreals essentially spy agency. Its no different than using black widows . Who are from Russia but the widows are made up . But guess what its all made up. Amd the character not connected to real world events shes made up lol
This is why people are saying that the fans are ruining the MCU

Blame the toxic fanbase
People are forgetting that comic book characters were created in reflection of the times and as a means to escape the social-political turmoil outside… I personally was looking forward to the inclusion of the character and her first ever live action depiction because it harkens back to the overall real world reflection that made comics great. Including the fact that she’s a mutant, further building up the anticipation for mutants and ultimately the x-men in the mcu. Making her a former widow cheapens the character in my opinion considering the aforementioned and considering how “widows” are depicted as mere assassins in the mcu… but this “politically correct” “democratic” approach to movies is getting f***ing ridiculous. It’s a superhero movie for Christ sake! Let it serve it’s purpose! People need to get over themselves. And let’s not forget the overt racism that plagued “Wakanda Forever”… that’s completely ok to depict, but a proud Israeli is not???!!! Make it make sense…
Personally i wouldn't have changed anything about her.
Same here
So you want her to be a war monger in the comics and demonise Arabs/palestinians and portray on live action. It’s truly astonishing of what you are teaching to the kids and worldwide

Shira Haas is a petite actress. I can't see her as a superhero.
In the Comics she a Mutant do this mean she can't join the X-Men anytime soon
I’d say they keep the character and suit and have the actress do a “I don’t fuck with y’all discourse” music video and dance.
It’s not that serious she is not the one who started the war or part take in it so why is it a big deal
I've seen many interviews with pro-Hamas students on college campuses, and they are CLUELESS as to why they support Hamas and hate Israel. It's all propaganda and emotion.
Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Kevin Feigi - all Jewish.
Yet the fanbase has issues with an Jewish actress playing a Jewish character smh 🤦🏽♂️
I came into this video not knowing anything about the situation. after watching I still know nothing about what's going on? is the actress Jewish, did she say something about Palestine???
It's entirely because she is an Israeli superhero that people are tying her to what's going on in Palestine. The actress, nor the character, said or did anything to warrant her getting hated. It literally all just stems from her being from Israel
