- On this week's episode of the podcast, freeCodeCamp founder Quincy Larson interviews Scott Hanselman. Scott's a developer at Microsoft, a prolific teacher, and has hosted the Hanselminutes podcast for nearly two decades.
We talk about:
· How he leads a fully-remote team from his home of Portland, Oregon
· His 11-year journey to getting his degree
· What he learned from teaching programming at community college
· What he's learned about software development from recording 980 podcast interviews across 20 years
Can you guess what song I'm playing on my bass during the intro? It's from a 1994 punk song.

We got swiss multi purpose tutorial before gta VI?
GTA VI release date is more than a year away. Luckily, lots of interviews with devs to tide you over. 🏕

Commenting off the intro, but it’s hard for a Swiss army developer. You learn so many frameworks, libraries, and methods that you look attractive on a resume. Then when you get interviewed you forget old knowledge that you can easily lookup and get refreshed on but you trip over during an interview. It’s hard for things to align.

Ok! Now, I would like you to to take into account that time changes society across the years: Society changed. Why feeling so under the weather because we are not at the same level as the others. Who are younger and well prepared? I feel so excited to see that I am part of history.
Bro i thought he was gonna mention touhou at the start when he talked about japanese shmups lmao
Great idea, but you likely also have to be a specialized non-swiss army knife developer that can do all the leetcode problems to get through the interview funnel at microsoft 😅
❤
🎉
Its okay but nobody uses the other features of the knife. Its jist there to add to it and its what makes it unique.
