i really appreciate you making this video, it gives me a much better understanding on what i need to do in order to get into pharmacy school, thank you
I'm a Senior in highschool and going for pharmacy, these videos help me see what I'm getting into, thanks alot! Great summary too!
Dr Collins pcat study guide is an AMAZING guide!
Hi Paul,
Thanks so much for your videos I have gone through almost all of them today. I have my interview this Sunday and your videos were very helpful in preparation for the pharmacy interview. Thanks so much!
thanks for the video man. really helpful. I was clueless on what to do as a prepharm track student.
Hi Paul, can you do a video on your pharmacy interview? The questions you were asked and how you answered them, thanks!
Please keep in mind everything I talked about is the IDEAL candidate. Many students get in with a very bland resume and experience as well and mediocre GPA. A lot depends on interview too! :)
This video was extremely helpful! If you can make a video with effective studying tips that would be awesome and well appreciated
Im trying to decide whether to go in to pharmacy or dentistry. Great video!
Thanks Paul, this video helped a ton. Can you do a video on how to get good grades in undergrad and how to get good grades in Pharmacy school. How to study in college basically. I'm in high school and i have no work ethics right now.
This is really helping me out so much. Thanks a lot for the video!!
Yes I agree with mark could you please do a study type video
Thanks! This helped a lot, I'm doing pre-requisites and preparing to take the PCAT as well. I'm working around 30 hours a week and going to a community college. This is going to sound lame but it's really hard for me to get motivated and study well after getting off work. Do you have any tips/tools to study more efficiently?
hi paul
i was wondering if having an honorable discharge from the military a plus for a admissions application?
did you work while in pharmacy school? did you have a savings or revenue coming in while in school? did you move out forever after undergraduate school from your family home? did your parents support you while you were in school?
I used a Canon t2i for my older videos and a Canon t4i for the more recent ones.
Would you recommend taking classes for the PCAT? Or would it be fine just to take your pre-requisite classes and then take the PCAT?
it really informatics. i am wondering on , how does work for credits form another country to get in master degree.
+surya mhopu learn english first....
You are awesome, im working into getting into UNE here in Maine, i'm transfering from a community college to pre pharm. Any tips while im in pre pharmacy to increase my chances of getting into graduate school besides GPA. It helps that the graduate school is part of the same college. pre pharm 2 years/graduate school 4 years. Im trying to get into a pharm tech job right now to start. Im at Hanford so im going to try and transfer to the pharmacy here.
What would I need to do in order to receive pharmacy experience during my pre-pharmacy course work?
you are the best!! i have a question for you...my GPA is not the best but im determined to become a pharmacist. Ill have my bachelors degree in biology in december, i'm a nationally certified pharmacy technician and i have been working in a pharmacy for 2 years now.. do you think i have a chance?
i have one, its one of my very first videos!
Thank you for this helpful video! I will also
be majoring in biology & if I get into pharmacy school as an undergrad, should I attend college and pharmacy school at the same time?
I'm so mad at myself. I wish I would've volunteered in the ebola epidemic. Intense stuff like that would have employers all over me! The outbreak is pretty much almost settled though and I'd basically be "that" world Trade Center worker who was late.
hey i have a question i am intrested in chemistry and i wish to be a pharmacist i am 14 years old as of now and as soon as i finish sophmore year i plan to do a pharm tech class at a local community college if i get a job as a pharm tech at 16 would this boost my possiabilities of getting into pharmacy school more than anything else except gpa and stuuf like that
Thank you, very helpful video
Great video, well executed and very informative!
Hey i want to be a Pharmacist and was thinking about going to Auburn for Pharmacy school, but i was wanting to know what the chances are of me getting in if my undergrads are taken somewhere else or should i take them at Auburn?
what if i don't do any volunteer work during high school (im a junior now) but during first two years of community college (not for pre-pharm but to make up for my horrible freshman & sophomore years of high school)
I have a 3.0 GPA and if I managed to get a 4.0 throughout the rest of my academic career at the Cal State level (which I'm confident I can do) it won't really increase my GPA that much more.
The obvious things to do are to get a high score on the PCAT and gather experience (possibly getting a job as a pharm tech).
Was time ever an issue for you? A good majority of us have to work and it's a good idea to save some money
I haven't really heard anyone discuss how they handled themselves financially due to having to study so much and ultimately have less time to work to have a decent income.
What are your personal experiences from a financial standpoint and how did you overcome any financial issues (if any) due to the amount of time invested into studies, labs, etc.?
Hi Paul, love your videos they have helped me a lot so far. I know there will be some international differences but I am currently on a BSc degree (Applied Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences) second year in the UK. However if I get over 60% (a 2:1 classification) this year I can transfer to second year pharmacy, I also scored well in the aptitude test this time. I will be unsure what to do as I have a chemical industrial placement lined up on the course I am on but I am wondering if I did take the transfer to pharmacy, how far down the hospital pharmacy route could I go and what would typical day to day starting roles and more senior roles be i.e. monitoring patients, deciding on possible medications with doctors? I have work experience in a community pharmacy but to be completely honest I am unsure / stuck between courses. Any help would be greatly appreciated so I can compare, many thanks Craig
Something i want to stress in this video is the experience part. PLEASE PLEASE for your sake get experience or at least be accustomed to the environment because the job of being in a pharmacy is not fun stuff. I personally was going to become a pharmacist because i was fooling myself by saying "oh i love helping people blah blah blah" but what i really wanted was the money. Now that ive gotten experience for almost 2 years ive noticed that i really do not like the job and im just an assistant. Many people in the pharmacy i work at also don't like their job but as he said in another video, someone has to be pay the bills.

that's with any career that pays a lot of money. most, not all, will go into a career why? because it pays well. is it really a passion? not really. yeah, there are some that from young, they dream of being this or that, but the truth is that most, go into a career because of the money. to top it off, they end up hating their job down the road.
What up Paul, I'm thinking of doing an online pharmacy program and I'm not sure if it's a wise decision. It will be helpful for me if I do it online due to my current situation. The program requires that you go to the school every summer to do some clinical work you need for your courses. Would you recommend pharmacy school online? I know pharmacy school won't be easy and I don't want to risk taking it online and make it more difficult.
I have never heard of that. I don't think anyone should ever take a graduate program online.
great video!! thank you
If you have a high GPA, how low of a PCAT score would Pharmacy colleges consider? I have a 3.96 GPA...
I got the Duquesne University early assurance PharmD last week but the cost is really high even after the $20,000 scholarship. How can you guy handle these loans?
get the kaplan pcat prep booklet
@Max Saeng yeh please, I second that.
Does anyone know... for example, a school requires you to have a 3.0 if I have a 3.0 exactly is that good? or should I try to keep it higher?
Definitely higher, 3.00 equals out to you never getting an A, and idk about you, but that doesn't seem too good
Carlos Garcia so for a pharmacy school that requires a 2.5 a 3.0 would be good?
Well I'm in high school, but your goal shouldn't be a 3.00, aim for the stars, you'll at least reach the sky lol
Sheyla D I applied to seven school and got accepted by all seven schools. My science GPA was 3.6 and overall was 3.89 but I feel your PCAT score weighs more than your GPA. I talked to some admission people and they said they do not care as much about GPA as long as you meet their criteria. The PCAT score really helps and your interviewing skills once you get your foot in the door.
+blah did you have a BA and in what major :) thanks in advance
I didn't realize that there were so many hoops and hurdles to jump in order to get in Pharmacy School. In all honesty, i'm a bit discouraged now.
Thank you!
Thank you so much
Paul, i like you, you're awesome, thanks!
this sounds nearly impossible with 2 kids....ugh going for it though
How has it gone for you?
Typically doesn't matter where you go but the school does usually take more of their own students from undergrad (generally) but I'm not 100% sure if this is due to actually favoring their own students or just because more of their own undergrad students apply to their school.
Great really helps
Hi Guys Please Thumb me! Thanks!
Max I meant! Lol
I'll make sure to go to a third world country right away....
Ah ha
Thanks for the advice!
A pharm-uuuuh-cist performs a lesser role than that of a Middle school librarian.
A lowly phlebotomist provides a necessary service, you won't.
Your money (in change) is on the nightstand.
Get out.
Thanks!
