Bondi Rescue follows the work of the elite professional Lifeguards who patrol Australia’s busiest beach. This is Australia’s real life Baywatch! Foreigners don’t listen, they know they can’t swim yet they think they are invincible. Not being rude or anything but sometimes it takes one of them to either be seriously injured, put in hospital or dead before they listen.

Man the level of patience these lifeguards have is amazing. it has to be mentally and physically exhausting dealing with people that ignore warnings and to know you have to keep the anger under control.

This is why we LISTEN! Well done guys for saving them! I honestly don’t know how I found myself here but I love this channel-
I appreciate that Bondi Rescue shows us the difference between aquatic distress (HELP!!! AHhhhhh) and literal drowning (silent, too busy trying to breathe and stay a float to call for help or put their hand up).
There are other signs so look up instinctive drowning response. The public should know what drowning looks like so when they see it, they can signal a life guard. Because once someone is drowning they can't scream for help. They can't splash around to show people they're struggling.
In about 20 seconds to a minute that dude drowning would have blacked out an gone under. Most swimmers would have looked right at him and not realize he was dying in front of them.
To most people that guy just looked like he was casually treading water. A lot of swimmers tread water just to "chill" in the water. With the thought that they can just swing back to shore when they get tired. But to a trained life guard he was fighting for his life. We need a trained everybody.
When someone is "chilling" in the water, they're able to keep their head above water. But if any part of their mouth is constantly going under water and then above water, repeat (doesn't have to be the full face). They aren't treading water to chill in the water. They're drowning.
Okay so a lot of children skip the aquatic distress part. They skip straight to the instinctive drowning response. So you can't rely on "aquatic distress" to know if your child needs help.
The other thing is sometimes small children tend to do flips, tumbling around in the water. They aren't doing water acrobatics, they're struggling.
One of their videos just popped up in my recommendation and I'm so addicted to this now..

They don't realise that not only do they put their own lives at risk but also that of the lifeguards. The lifeguards are human and not miracle workers-they could get into difficulties and drown too.
