Thank you so much for your videos. They are so helpful. I am seven weeks postop and at 4 to 6 weeks. I was doing very well then I started doing some squats, maybe to deep? and now I have a lot of tightness around the knee. I spoke to the physician about getting an x-ray and she said there was no need to and I spoke to the physiotherapist and she said that it’s just because of the increased activity. The only way I can explain it is I have a great bend at 120 and my extension is zero but as I walk with my surgical leg when my toe comes off the ground that bend right there feels like someone has a vice grip around my leg. It’s so frustrating and I just don’t know what to think about it so I’ve been watching your videos. I’m so glad that put out a new one on walking. I will try this tomorrow. Thank you again you’re so helpful. God bless you.
You are very welcome, thank you for watching! Unfortunately, what you are describing is a common symptom to experience during the recovery from knee replacement surgery. Hopefully with continued rehab and trying some of the things in the videos, you will see improvements over time. Best wishes to you!
Your tips and suggestions are really helpful and seem to cover many of my concerns - 11 weeks after TKR. A big problem I'm having in the UK is that pavements (sidewalks) are so uneven and potholed that it's easy to stub my toes which is agony.
Glad you found the video helpful! Uneven surfaces like you describe are definitely an added challenge. Like most things practice, practice, practice and giving your body the time to heal and continue to recovery from surgery. Best wishes to you!
Thank you for watching. Some exercises you can try are a standing calf stretch and heel raises. For the calf stretch stagger your feet and then while keeping them flat lean forward against a wall until you feel a stretch in the calf, hold for about 10-30sec, no more than a medium intensity. Heel raises, hold onto a surface for support and slow and controlled raise up onto your toes and then slow and controlled come back down.
8 weeks post.op left knee and WAS walking fine without walker or cane, even driving 5-15 min trips, and at end of physio govt paid physio course last week, when over the course of last 7 days my opposite side's groin and entire hip/ buttock became so painful to walk or put pressure on when standing up from couch on. Have had to go back to cane, and switch it to help non.operated side! Is this normal? Should I call surgeon for xray on opposite hip? Or just find a new physio program? Totally confused and frustrated since was walking well and exercising fine earlier. Have stopped all exercise and lessened my walks from 3 blocks to 1. No idea it could affect other hip etc and had no arthritic systems before left knee surgery. Have to get right knee surgery done, likely not till next spring. Will my right hip be wrecked by then??? Very worried. Any suggestions appreciated. Find your videos helpful! Thx!
Thank you for your question, sorry to hear about your hip pain. This is not normal but is not uncommon to develop some pain in other joints / areas after surgery as you may be moving differently and putting different stresses through your body and joints. If the pain persists the best thing to do is consult with your physician and they can make specific recommendations for you.
Hi Peterson I am Asiyah is this as you I had done my both knee replacement surgery one an half years ago but still I have limping in my walking what should I do please reply me thank you.
My best recommendations are within the video. If you are limping because of pain or decreased motion in the knees it may be appropriate to consult with your physician and/or physical therapist to have a personalized assessment performed.

Thank you! Very helpful. I picked up my pace and that worked well. I didn’t limp as much and sometimes not at all.
Glad to hear it!
