      Funny how y'all don't mention Fire/EMS.
      Perhaps y'all think we wear FlipFlops or something... But that's okay because none of those boots soles will last 365 days on concrete anyway. Trust me no boot has in my 31 years of service...

    Seriously no Soloman GTX4??? 10 years ago Merrell was a good product with good customers service. Now all they make is junk accross the board and all of their shoes fall apart in less than a year. Not the same company they used to be. Rocky has always been good for hunting, and they are still strong in the market accross the board. 511 "Is great on flat surfaces". LOL Yep all their stuff is junk as well. If any boot has "Venting holes" that let the moisture out to dry isn't waterproof enough and is junk as well.

      I can’t recall ever experiencing that but, living in Sweden, I have noted that the rubber in the Lowa sole tends to stiffen in cold climate, making them kinda clampy on hard surfaces. Lowa have developed a boot specially adapted to cold climate, with a more suitable sole. I love them.

    • @AVH8TOR
      @AVH8TOR Рік тому

      Same as Oboz. I loved them for the comfort but when the temperature gets below freezing, the rubber gets so hard it feels like you’re ice-skating. My go to is always the Saloman forces. Any version will work. With my job I do 40 miles a week through different terrains, so trust me when I tell you these are the best options.

    Lowa Desert Elite...got me through 2 out of 3 tours of Helmand...the first tour I used the British Army issued garbage and had endless issues with my feet (and the boots falling apart on me), smartened up and spent my own money on 2 pairs of Lowa`s each time I deployed...still have one of the last pairs I bought back in 2012 and they are still going strong!

    Lowa Zephyr (GTX or non-GTX) are some seriously comfortable boots but they do struggle when the ground is icey or if you’re walking on certain types of floors that are “slippy”. That said, they’re great for everything else, really supportive, doesn’t crush your feet, comfy and good design. They don’t look out of place if you’re wearing jeans. If Lowa are able to resolve or improve the grip issue then their boots will continue to fly off the shelves!

    Got Danners, 15 year old still good, Lowas fell to bits after a few years, Magnum not tough enough to last 18 months and their side zips are weak so no more side zips for me, 5.11 desert boots wont buy again,my latest are Altburgs these are well made but take a while to bed in, but they are resoleable, I have noticed model numbers may differ so I did not include them, but out of them all for regular wear I would choose the Danner even if they dont make my original style, they are comfortable from day one.

      No, they don’t have good arch support from the factory. I’ve never owned a boot that did though and just use inserts that are far better. As far as breath ability… again, as good or better than others I’ve owned. But waterproofing comes at the expense of lower breath ability.

    Just thought Id give my 2 cents worth. I purchased a pair of Reebok RB8806 super comfy for 3 months then where the crease happens where you bend your toes the material started to fray and a moth later there is a large hole. I wrap cars as a job so I guess Im crouching more than most but 4 months is pretty poor! My advice is to shop elsewhere.

    How can i buy the Ares 8gtx black? it seems that it's correct sizes (in this case my husband is 44.5 which is 11 inches in conversion, i really cannot get the EU size 44 (10.5") or the EU size 45 (11.5"), it has to be the right size. Where can i look? They can only be sold within retailers in Italy? I would really like to buy them for my husband because they seem amazing

    Anytime anyone tells you buy boots with side zipper or GTX, run the other way. Same goes for trousers. Lowa, Garmont are great. The rest are mall ninja gear.

    Solomon are made too narrow. Even buying one size up doesn’t help. For $400 you would expect a better fit.

    I am a contractor working in Iraq, I walked on average around 7500 steps daily on hard surfaces and after reviewing the Zephyr GTX GF, I decided to purchase from Back Country (Feb 2022). I bought a pair, half size bigger, based on reviews. In Iraq, the summer temperatures and heat conditions can go as high as 124 degrees F It rarely rains and it is dusty. The boots are gore-tex and I really do not need them based on weather conditions. After using the boots for several months one of the left boot eyelets snapped. The boot is hot for the ambient temperature. I use a good pair of socks and used Dr. Sholls CF 440 insoles. The vendor will replace the boot.

    Danner tactical boots are the best on the market. The Lowa Zephyr GTX look amazing but they are just too expensive.

      @@homerfantastic For 260.00 and the boot that only lasts for a year vs. a boot that will last 20+ years? Good luck with finding value in Lowa because not worth the price!

    Lowa and Rocky's sook. Lowa the heel blew out/'n shredded, Rocky Bear Paws soles just tuned to crumbled goo, and even ruined a pair of runners stored below them.
    Each would had a nudder ten years of use if not crap soles. :-l
