Really inspiring. We met Jackie and Mark in Germany this weekend just gone and had a tour and chat in the beast. Ours was call the beast until we parked next to them, now it's called 'mini beast' haha - Great to see them and a video we'll no doubt be watching again a few times. Amazing and inspiring. I hope you're able to continue this life as long as possible. Not sure if you're aware but the car park you are on is a very well known "Dogging" location. I wouldn't stay there too long you'll be asked to hop in the back 🤣
The main green inside is very similar to what was used in Soviet military vehicles as it was found to be the most psychologically calming colour - no wonder they seem so relaxed 😀
Wow! Freaky, saw you today! Was driving the bin lorry that pulled up beside you on the A27 at junction 11 of the M27 Now I know what the inside looks like. Def love it. Keep on trucking!
We absolutely LOVE this channel! It's the best UA-cam channel we've seen - so interesting and so beautifully filmed. We're very grateful to Sophie and Ryan for asking us to be a part of it. :-)
I'm guessing that this couple earned more than the average Joe shall we say, to be able to retire that early in life isn't an option for most. Sure, living in a vehicle maybe cheaper but I dread to think what the fuel cost alone would be in that, the cost of tyres, we know. Good luck to them though, if they can make their dream happen.
Hi Steve and thanks for the best wishes. You are right that we were lucky that we both had well paid jobs after we reached 30 but I guess the takeaway is that we have friends with far more money and less of a life because they can't think beyond conventional or they become addicted to accumulating stuff; bigger, better and more of it. That said I did have to get out of bed at 3am every day for 20 years and my usual working day was about 12 hours, so it didn't come on a plate and the corporate world broke me in the end to the point that I am still on medication 8 years later and doubt I could cope with work in a conventional manner ever again (not sure that I should have shared that but hey-ho). The biggest factor to reach the point we are now is not to have children. In no way am I suggesting children are a bad plan but it will reduce life's options. The truck costs may be a little surprising and the truck itself has ended up costing about the same as a new conventional motorhome (including replacing the tyres) because we made it ourselves and the truck itself only cost £21k. The road tax is cheaper than a van, the insurance is about the same, the ferry crossing to France is £120. The MPG is about 3x our van but our logistics have changed so we actually do far fewer miles and plan shopping and visiting en-route rather than driving back and forth. Once we are parked we are parked and we rarely use campsites. I spend double (rather than treble) what I used to spend on the van fuel but the solar we can now carry means that I can't remember the last time we needed to plug into the mains and we carry enough water to last us 6 weeks. All things considered, our costs in the truck are lower than when we used to travel with a van/caravan combo. Don't get me wrong though, we recognise that we are very lucky to have our lives.
@@adrianross6215 You are right, it's not solely about how much money one makes, it's how you manage it basically. I have had a job that required me to start at 4am, I done that for 15 years so know about the toll that can take, it were a van delivery role so the salary wasn't great either. I still managed to become mortgage free at the age of 46, wife and I decided not to have kids when we met, we had no ties so could move further away from London to a larger cheaper property, that's how we made some money/paid off the mortgage. Are you aware of Klaus Schwab and his Great Reset plan that's being pushed? If enough citizens don't wake up and fight it, how do you see us living with a central bank digital social credit score system? They can stop you buying fuel, meat and everything else basically,... they don't want folk traveling much period, hence the 15 minute cities, Oxford in the UK being one. Do you know about any of this?
@@steveclark.. Hi Steve, I replied yesterday but that seems to have got lost in the ether. We have a lot in common as I started as a delivery driver too but managed to end up as the manager, hence the wage hike at 30 and getting some money in the bank for the first time. We also paid off the mortgage at much the same time but pretended we hadn't and that money went into a fund to escape the corporate crap as soon as possible. We also move from a house in London to a 1 bed flat in Dorset that put more money into that escape fund. Most of our friends just got caught in the materialistic media trap and bought a bigger house when they got ahead and kept those financial shackles firmly around their ankles, especially when they all had kids too. Not heard of Schwab but read it yesterday and to be honest I thought it had been happening for years. The politicians are just the puppets of the powerful corporations and wealthy donors. An explanation why we are seeing more and more evidence of corruption, lying and heartless behaviour from our appointed leaders. @@steveclark..you're right about the WEF and all the plans being implemented. I'd advise anyone who's able to buy some land or woodland to do so now and to start putting in some infrastructure to mitigate what coming before its too late to do it. There's more people out there who're doing things like this than you realise it's just that we don't shout about it and draw attention. I am surprised no one uses heat pump to use that free electricity and instead resort to LPG for heating. I mean, they say themselves they barely ever drop below 94% charge on their batteries, so a small heat pump would cover their heating and cooling for free - outside of the cost of the pump itself, that is, but they aren't that expensive anymore.
