Is it me or is the volume VERY low? I have one of these & TWO white one's, the white one's are always swimming around together, they were listed as ROYAL CONVICTS but they also act like 'Kissing Gouramis' where they face off together, I assume they ate fighting, can you confirm? Thanks 🇬🇧
Hey! Has anyone heard of this ?...Last night a pair of my convicts spawned...no biggy!...But, today they laid another spawn... on the outside of the bamboo piece they layed eggs inside of last night! WHAT! Is this usual ?
this is the last fish u want to get in your tank. Just make sure u have other cichlids that are much bigger(angle, severum, firemouth, etc) who have established territories. a large flower pot in the corner is a must. at least 30 gallon +
The cichlids you listed are some of the smallest in SA/CA. I kept angels with a convict, and I see a severum and firemouth working as well, but they're on the smaller side. The larger ones you can keep them with are oscars, Jack Dempseys, and possibly midas depending on personality and size, as convicts grow to a max of 1/3 their size.

Hi there. So I have an albino oscar, a red oscar, a convict cichlid, and a tiger barb in a 35 gallon tank. I know what ur thinking that it's a small tank but they are small still so when they get older I will get them a bigger tank. But the convict is fully mature and he just won't leave my 2 oscars alone. They can be minding their own business and the convict just swoops out from beneath and attacks and nips at them. What do I do? Should I get another aggressive cichlid to control the convict?😖like a green terror, jack dempsey, or a blood red parrot cichlid?
Mine lay eggs yesterday.. Looks like female attacked male he is hiding behind the filter. Should I move him to different tank? Aren't they both suppose to care for fry?
Hello! I have one beloved cichlid named Cid. He lives with a timid sometimes snippy vanilla lobster named Lobby. Would Lobby be happier without Cid? Cid gets curious with Lobby and sometimes likes his antennae but Lobby has a personal bubble. Sometimes i worry they aren't compatible but they seem ok. Lobby has molted twice and Cid is active and curious both seem healthy to me. I just wonder if Cid would be happier with another Cichlid like himself.
Nope sadly not, they will always compete too be the prettiest and will always be stressed that there's no male to reproduce with, there very personalitied fish but are highly amazing if you can take care of them
Can I keep young convict cichlids in a 2.5 gallon tank? I ask because my Aunt has some that bred and she's giving away the babies. I just want to be sure I have the right accomidations, and felt a little excited about bringing new fish home since my tank has been empty for a long while until you said 20 gallons is a requirement.
@@k4saquatics430 yea decided against the JD and the Convicts. JD would get too big and the Convicts would be to aggressive especially if they breed. I have the BP in there now with a blue acara, rainbow ciculid and a fire mouth. I think my 40 gallon has the room for it right now. The HOB filter plus the sponge filter connected to a powerhead should be enough filtration for now. I'll probably get a 75 gallon when I move in about 7 months tho
@@brooklyn560 nice I got s a covict today also a fire mouth. You could probably keep a jd with a concict as long there is space but I'm talking like a 6 ft tank

You can(it's one of the fish ONLY recommended to keep it with the black convict.. but I'd never put any fish with then.. think they're happy on their own

my water in my tank is perfect and my convicts have black stripes, some convicts just have darker stripes than others

Yes, after they fertilize you can sperate the 2 if need be and the female will raise the fry.

I would get 2 convict females and another fmale fish compatible with there species, they can't crossbreed so there's no worries of baby fish

No way over stocked the jack I would keep in a 75 alone the convicts can be in a 30 gal and the blood parrot 55

I have in the past...but I never recommend it because there's always a chance of the flowerhorn injuring the convict
