Jamie mentioned wind, water movement and erosion. These are all very much the cause of lakes suffering from under cuts and collapsing banks and disappearing islands. Solution. All banks (both island and near banks to be shuttered to below the ground level. This will stop both wind and water movement creating erosion and also stops the Carp digging in to the banks and cause under cuts. The pay back comes when you dont have to start carrying out expensive and fish upsetting maintenance. There are many methods like Rock cages, Water and rot proof membranes combines with stakes and shutter boards.
I really like the look of this and know it will be done to the highest quality all round. Can't wait to come and fish it. I like the slow gradual slope idea with a sharper bank as the close margin and a nice deep trench down the centre of the lake, most of all the overall shape of the lake looking down is lovely. It's when the planting goes in and starts to take shape is when it will really come to life for me. Keep up the great work. Love everything winning ways and it's just getting better as the years go on.
To stop erosion... why not as it's a snake lake... see also canal shaped... used man made structure for the banks to prevent erosion but to make an artifical canal environtment... would be awesome. Canal are designed to prevent erosion due to boat movement... using simple canal building materials would look amazing
Would be a great name for a lake too "The Canal".. .. potentially as It's U shaped with a narrow gap between ends... you could have an artifical flow with pumps transferring water to give it a real canal effect!!
The Bridgewater at Leigh is the windest fishery, due to how flat the land is. Not forgetting Leigh is about 36ft above sea level, and very little shelter from the prevailing weather.
love the video but marston fields is tamworth my friend, borderline kingsbury... we are not sutton coldfield :D nice video though, looking forward to it being finished
So its a typical 3ft deep pole fishing "pond" not a lake is it. It needs drops so tue fish can grow. Also some natural homes in the pond. So the fish can develop. But then the fish arent going to be given the chance to develop.
It's not going to be "quirky and unique" , it's going to be a fairly typical hole in the ground full of F1s. I'm sure you guys will make a good job of it but it's not going to look at all natural.
It will. Needs time to fill up, naturalise and also for the fish to get accustomed to it. Some people think you can just dig a hole, fill it with water and fish then start fishing it.
it would of been a bit better if you made the video longer, it is looking brilliant, i think it will be much better made and thought out by match fisher men so you get it right. Thank you winning ways,
Looking forward to seeing how it turns out! You should call it the JAR lake (Jamie, Andy, Richard).
Fascinating the thought processes behind lake design and seeing the build in progress.

Will certainly be giving this a go once it's up and running. Great work
You definitely need to put a couple instant win Goldie's in!!!!
Got to get bk up there this year
looks great can not wait to see the finished lake keep up the great works lads

At a massive cost to build & pumps etc to create water movement would cost a fortune in upkeep and running costs

J lad are you putting perch on't curve ?
I like about 20 mins away from Marstons .. I need to go down there and give it ago. 😮
And i agree a steady gradual slop on island and margin

The wind at that place, and 14M to the island, please plant trees for windbreaks.
Slight slope to a ledge then a further slope to the bottom….. plant reeds along the first slope 😊
I suspect they have had plenty of professional advice about things like that.
@@samuelgarrod8327 I am a professional 😁👍
You need to do a lake at cudmore as well..
Planting conifers or banks for wind brakes , especially when the fishery is young to stop erosion and less Peggy!
When is supposed to be finished and ready to fish, approximately.
What about under cut banks for future maintenance?
Could some pegs have disabled access ?
Did you have to get planning permission?
Mr Jackson using works note pads 😂😂 will they be part sponsors?

He said it would be 5ft depth.
Fill the lake with monster carp
Dont make the middle island two narrow seen two many snake lakes island corrode and collapse

Be a few years before you can even put fish in it.
