This video is in the TOP 5 of my Favorites! Every time I watch it, I like it even more! I really like the shot @15:30 I wish I could get a 8 by 10 photo to hang on the wall of my layout room.........? The three of you who gave this a thumbs down must be fans of Steamers only!
We're all volunteers, including the train crew. Its a bit of a lengthy process. First you gotta go through docent training that all new volunteers have to go through. Once that's done, you sign up for car attendant training on the Sac Southern, since all new railroad volunteers have to start out as one, even if they have previous experience as an engineer. From there, you just slowly progress up the latter of other positions, spending at least an operating season in each one before being able to sign up for the training for the next one. I myself just started as a car attendant, so they're saying earliest I could become an engineer is 5-7 years. I have been told they're working on a way to streamline the process.
Great Video! My favorite Trains and Train videos are F's & E's pulling vintage coaches. Thanks, for posting this video.

How does one go about getting an engineer job with this museum?

Great footage of these classic streamliners! How often do these come out and work the excursion train?
We really only bring them out for special occasions, such as our annual "Farm-to-Fork" dinner train and Polar Express.
Great video! I do have to ask what's up with 913's horn? I'm very interested in knowing.
Its A Leslie A200 horn, A200 horns are pretty Common back in the steam and Pre desiel era
BladerJefu I know the type of horn, it just sounded broken because it was making weird noises.
@@MrNJT oh
@@MrNJT well i see
Early Leslie horns required more maintenance than later horns. This particular one needs the diaphragms retensioned or “voiced as we call it.
In some scenes I noticed that the Southern Pacific logo is missing on the front of 6051. Was there a reason why they took it off?
Theft prevention
WP 913 got a wheezy horn.
It's an A-200 that likely needs revoicing
@@AirchimeLTDproductions174 needed a new diaphragm. Had about a quarter sized hole in it. Just got fixed a month or so ago
Shop that leslie A-200 on the 913 it needs to be re-voiced. Quit trying to feather the horn, please !
