Lol it's why I came here, driving is one of the most vulnerable situations we put ourselves in, and because we drive for hours, and may have people getting frustrated as we follow a GPS, it can be dangerous. Definitely need a gun as well, I never took took that policy serious.

I make molds and make parts out of fiberglass, carbon and Kevlar. I always wanted to make a mold of a car door panel, then make a Kevlar replacement and test it out. That would be cool because it would not bulk up the car at all. It could look just like the original door panel.
Could someone commission you to somehow make a door panel out of AR500 plate?
@@Adventure_Ash No, I wouldn't attempt to bend or weld ar500 plate. I think it would make the car too heavy too. Maybe some thin ar500 plate in certain areas of the door panel, but not the whole thing.

@MannyP Use of rifle rounds, especially in pistol configurations, have become MUCH more common. Your 10% chance of complete failure, and potential death, is FAR too high for many, especially when rifle rated armor is the same cost, and often weight, as the low end armor.
Of course, either is irrelevant if you take one to the dome... 🤷♂️
Everyone has their choice for their own defense. Check the pros and cons to each choice, and try to choose accordingly.
@mannyp4542Just about everyone I know owns body armor and rifles. Thinking you're not gonna encounter a rifle is incredibly stupid.
It's kind of funny so many people seem to assume their gonna be driving through Afghanistan or something with this in their car dodging AK rounds or some other post shtf deal. This thing has real world application today, like right now not in some possible future dystopia but right here and now. Especially if you have to drive through cities or work in them where shootings occur often as hell and im not talking about the "mass shootings" you see on national news stations but the ones that dont get reported on, and are primarily done by hood bangers with switched glocks. So until the zombies or reds start invading I'll be picking myself up a couple to put in my camry for myself and my wife since we've been shot at by some psyco roadrager on the freeway with a pistol, also another growing common occurrence.

True but what about the windows. I'm actually looking to make a project car bulletproof. Windows are the hardest to do and this just solved it for me. Pull it down and ur good for pistol threats. Slap ar500 in the door panels for rifles (if rifles come out u should duck and hit the gas anyway) door jamb etc should be able to eat the spall

Those AR 500 plates would be great to put in the trunk of a car or the back side of a truck tailgate.

My child being hit by gunfire from a road rage shooter is my biggest fear right now. In Texas this is a regular thing people just shooting at each other on the highway and killing children. Its horrifying being a dad with anxiety and adhd in todays age. Im considering selling one of our cars and armoring our family vehicle.
