  • Genesis 50:15-26
After the death of their father Jacob, Joseph's brothers fear he will seek revenge for their past wrongs. They send a message to Joseph, claiming it was Jacob's wish for him to forgive them. Joseph reassures them, weeping and expressing that he will provide for them and their children. The passage concludes with Joseph's death at 110 years old, his request to be eventually buried in the Promised Land, and his body being placed in a coffin in Egypt.
    Psalm 66:8-15
This section of Psalm 66 calls for the peoples of the earth to bless God, who has preserved their lives and kept them from falling. It recounts the trials that God allowed, such as being refined as silver is refined, and brought into a net or burdened with heavy loads. However, the psalmist praises God for bringing them to a place of abundance.
    Proverbs 21:3
This verse emphasizes that doing what is righteous and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. It highlights the value of ethical conduct over mere religious rituals.
    Matthew 24:1-14
Jesus predicts the destruction of the Temple, leading the disciples to ask about the signs of the end times. Jesus warns them about many coming deceptions, the rise of false prophets, wars, famines, and earthquakes-all described as the "beginning of birth pains." He also talks about the persecution believers will face, the need for endurance, and the spread of the gospel throughout the world as a precursor to the end.
    Mark 13:1-13
Similar to Matthew 24, this passage records Jesus' prophecy about the destruction of the Temple and the signs of the end times. Jesus warns his followers about false messiahs, wars, earthquakes, and famines. He also describes the persecution his followers will face, the need to endure, and assures them that the Holy Spirit will help them in their time of trial.
    Luke 21:5-19
Also paralleling the accounts in Matthew and Mark, Luke’s version includes Jesus’ prediction about the destruction of the Temple, the coming persecutions for his followers, and various terrifying signs in nature and society. Jesus advises his disciples to stand firm, promising that their perseverance will secure their lives.
These passages collectively cover prophetic declarations about future trials and the end times, along with reassurances for believers to maintain faith and integrity amidst adversities.
