They were, as the name implies, officers commanding and leading the drum corps, helping the soldiers to march in time.

The T-Rex ate a "Michigan player" and spit his helmet out. I believe they have a week or two to learn the music and charts (where to march to) between home games. I don't believe the repeat the same show.

The stands that have the band"s back to them can watch on the jumbotron and can see everything just as well as the "home side." Also, the guy that was eaten by the dinosaur is wearing the Michigan jersey reprensenting Michigan.
Thank you! I've watched this many many times and never noticed the guy getting eaten had the opposing team's jersey on. No one seems to ever notice the victim's helmet being spit out though. Ali did! :D
Everyone can see the performance because the stadium has jumbotron screens. The people on the other side can see the band right-side up via the jumbotron.

Yes, it's not just about playing during games. Bands at the high school and college levels have competitions. My high school actually hosts a competition, The Dixie Classic, every year. As the host school, we're not in the actual competition but we do perform. Supposedly that one that gets eaten is someone from the opposing team according to some comments I saw from someone who was at this game, lol. You noted the ones on the other side of the stadium viewing it upside down. You're forgetting the ones on the goal post sides, lol.
FYI: Left/Right ears hear differently, the left hears/determines pitch/tone, the right determines/hears volume. The L/R on headphones/earbuds are there for a reason.

I also strongly recommend you react to The Ohio State University Marching Band's UA-cam Video "Tribute to the British Invasion" because the Ohio State University performed at Wembley Stadium in London during the NFL demonstation games a few years ago! I am glad you both recognized the second one as the "Eye of Sauron" from "The Lord of the Rings" because many YOutuber Reactors think that is a handbag LOL! The human that was "eaten" by the T-Rex was actually the mascot for the rival team University of Michigan. Plus the "M" on the Pirates of the Carribean is also showing Ohio State University sinking the rival team "M" University of Michigan ship! Also it does not matter if you sit on the opposite side because there are HUGE monitors to be able to see everything.
The presentation is shown on large screens in multiple places in the stadium so the people om the opposite side can see exactly was happening. The show is given to the home side which includes the press boxes and box prim seats. The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Michigan Wolverines (GO BLUE !!💛💙) are rivals. Michigan and Ohio are neighboring states and both are prestigious Colleges. Some people can take the rivalry to far ..but I enjoy the competition and extreme athletisism. The Ohio State band is beyond talented and pretty much known country wide. Coming from a Michigander that should mean quite a bit.
You need to watch some DCI (Drum Corps International) competition performances. Think marching band but only brass and drums. Also, get a y-splitter and two pairs of headphones ..problem on sound solved. Also the show is made to be performed toward the "home" side which is where the home team is located during the game and typically where the Press Box is located. So you'd be correct that the "Away" side which is where the opposing team side is located during the game. The band plays at halftime of the game which is similar to a halftime of a soccer match and it's a way to entertain the crowd while the teams take their break.
We'll take a look at the DCI. We might have to grab a couple of wired headphones but the wireless is quite clean for videos, maybe there's a better option. :)

I had a brief look and was a little confused! It seems more theatrical with dancers too? Is there any battles like the ones in the Drumline movie? :)
