People don't write songs about hating Santa because nobody gets murdered in the name of Santa.
Riff Master82 not true

It's so funny seeing a christian headbanging to "God hates us all!" 🤣

Fun fact - God Hates Us All was released on September 11 2001 - THINK ABOUT THAT!
I remember waking up that morning to go buy the cd, turning on the tv while getting dressed, and watching everything happen live. Crazy.
And i remember buying it that day as well
"THINK ABOUT THAT!" implies what?
Ayeew Tasko dont't blame slayer for a that day
SunRunnerNY - An album titled "God Hates Us All" released on the same day as the worst terrorist attack in history? An attack based on differing beliefs of religion/ideology? That seems like one hell of a crazy coincidence.
Kerry King wrote most of the anti-religious lyrics, Tom Araya wrote the serial killer lyrics and the late Jeff Hanneman wrote the war lyrics.
Alex Moore if theres proof that they work like that then i think its pretty awesome
Tom Araya said it in an interview. I read/saw it years ago so I don't remember what one but he reads crime novels and finds the mind of a serial killer fascinating. Jeff Hanneman's dad fought in WWII and that's why Jeff was a war buff, collected war memorabilia and read war novels. Kerry King is an atheist but just likes writing evil lyrics to piss off Christians.
It's pretty much a fact dude look it up
Mike Molloy shut up man im asking the op, not you

" I always find it interesting when someone goes out of their way to say they don't believe"
I too find it interesting when someone goes out of their way to knock on my door and tell me they do believe and want to convert me. Actually its more incredibly frustrating than interesting.
So true. As an atheist I've often wondered how it would go if I went door to door asking. "Have you stopped believing in Jesus Christ? I can help."
Yeah. This makes no sense. He's essentially saying people shouldn't react. I guarantee Disciple doesn't exist as a song if Christianity doesn't dominate America (even though that's not what the song is about).
Interesting fact. Tom Aarya the vocalist for Slayer is Catholic. He has said on occasion that he doesn't necessarily agree with the stuff he sings. He just likes it because it sounds cool. On this song in particular he said, " I don't think God hates anyone, but 'God hates us all' just sounds cool."
At this point even believers would have to concede that point. I mean from the outside it's clear if there was a god he sent 3 prophets as a simple test of worthiness, and I don't think you pass that test by slaughtering each other by the bushel over nonsense details. Ain't no messiah coming back, god packed up his shit, at the latest during the christian schism, and left with his kid to try again from scratch on another rock, or maybe he'll wipe the board on this one and try again. It's baffling to think the faithful can look at their collective history and imagine that their God is impressed. He would be winding up a mean fastball with another KT-size asteroid. Maybe the dolphin people will get the point next time.
The exact quote came from the show "Heavy, the story of metal" And the quote was "God doesn't hate, but it's a great fucking title" -Tom Araya
Crusader Knght All the same to me.
And one of Doom (the vidéo game ) is mormont .
Sounds cool?....that what he said?.......dude, he Is catholic so i really hope that God have sence of humor ' cuzz that wasnt cool what he said!!!!!!
The contradictions in the lyrics are noticeable but the contradictions in the bible are not?
just deal with the truth about listening to a band with assholes who write ten year old lyrics, clown
Being someone who's experienced spiritual abuse from the modern Christian Church and it's heritic ritual practices that are damaging to ones faith, spirit and mental health- I whole heatedly understand where this hate comes from. This last experience I endured was different only because I was paying attention. I met someone who inspired me back to organized church for the first time in about 30yrs. She was someone who participated in church for about that same 30 yrs. I couldn't bring myself to call this pastor, a self appointed man of God, my spiritual authority. He maliciously and methodical took my life apart both phycologically and spiritually with his leverage against me. I lost my relationship, my home, my friends, my job, my self identity, my ability to maintain the lifelong symptoms of CPTSD, as well as a few other things, all at the same time through this con man. I approached things with belief and faith just to experience being rejected in a certain way that only Christians are capable. I was 'prayed away' 'left to God', made an example of poor faith and hollowed out and left at the feet of God when it was all said and done. I fought with the idea that these people somehow took God with them and felt as if I was hopelessly abandoned. But I was able to keep my faith. I was amazed at how church operates today and the hypocrisy of these Evangelicals. It makes me wonder how many people experienced this as well, people who leave the idea of God behind them because they feel worthless and rejected by perceived rightous people, and ended writing a song about it that someone with static in their head and heart would relate to and it's this song by Slayer. The affliction that brings out this in people can be fixed but it can be prevented with correcting leadership or creating a kind of governing authority over Christian Church to protect people seeking God and his healing arms instead of toxic pride and con men's boots.

What a lineup! Was that show as amazing as it sounds?
Michael Henderson Oh fuck I was there dude great fucking show
That sounds amazing. Did it happen? That sounds like a modern dream gig. The best gig I ever saw was the Ozzfest in the UK I think 1998. Fear Factory opened then Slayer. Pantera played after some other bands filled in a space. I was drunk so I can't remember who was in between (But I'm picking I didn't care). Ozzy came on after that, Did a set and the gig finished with him coming back afterwards with Black Sabbath.
That day will stay with me until the end of my days!

Tom araya born in America! Chile is located in South America, therefore at American Continent. We, all below the U.S are Americans too!
I think the reason why no one writes a I hate Santa song is because Santa doesn’t have the same historical baggage of oppression, hate, and violence that “god” does.
Good point
Tell that to the elves...
marine1885 Just move the "n" in Santa and we've got something.
N'Sata - I knew it! Hes African!
This was a fun watch. Thank you both.
Kerry King got the idea for this song while being stuck in traffic and saw a billboard that said god loves you
The whole 'if you knew there wasn't a god, you would live your life differently and more pragmatically' thing is kind of disturbing to me. Do you really only treat people with respect because you think you'll be rewarded in the afterlife? I'm atheist and I try to be kind just because I think it's the right way to go about life. I don't expect any medals for it or anything, I just try to treat others the way I would like to be treated. Sorry if I misunderstood something, I think that's a really deep topic that deserves its own podcast honestly. Great song and reaction.
sexnotchocolate Couldn't agree more. People should live by the Golden Rule regardless of their faith. Glad to see someone with similar beliefs NOT bad mouthing Christians for believing in God.
I didn’t say I’d only treat people well Bc of an afterlife reward. I’m very much “this world” oriented in my theism I don’t think much about the afterlife. We def should do a FEW shows on this topic for sure
I get that. The way I feel about it is as some kind of agnostic who questions. I don't have the answers to the universe one way or the other but while I'm here I help those less fortunate and gain meaning from relationships I've had. I don't believe "God" is needed for morality or values however I have no problems with people leaning towards God as long as they aren't judgmental and use that as a hammer to hit people with. The same can be said on the atheist side of things. They tend to get so angry that "You believe this stupid shit" not realizing that everyone has stupid shit they believe in or at least shit that others would find stupid.
Just to clarify, whatever anyone believes I don't think is stupid. It depends on what you do with those beliefs that matter to me. Please don't feel I'm attacking either side of the debate here. I exist in the middle ground to provide a different side.
I actually began as a Christian then started describing myself as "Atheist with buddhist and Satanic leanings" in my "angsty youth" and these days I think its just arrogant to assume you have all the answers and can tell people one way or the other in relation to the universe.
Ivan Gushkov Also, like 80% of them dont believe in God, and are just members of the STATE church because they automatically became members when they were baptized by their parents etc. I am norwegian, was never baptized, but still was a member because my mother got baptized... no longer a member now. Norway is one of the most secular nations, also one of the happiest. Go figure ,)
Thomas L.G I am also from Norway. The government may be one of the most secular in the world, but the population itself is not. I said that 80% of Norwegians are members of the church, not that they are christians. The fact is that the church is still a very important part of Norwegian life. It is a social hub and organizes important events, such as Confirmations for children. You cannot deny that the church is having a serious effect on the Norwegian population, and that it is positive. That is why I will baptize my children, because even though I don´t myself believe I want them to be brought up in the christian tradition of Europe as I was, lest they stop cherishing beautiful traditional values. Christian societies will be happy in the long run, atheist societies will slowly spiral into degeneracy and degradation, as we have seen in Swedistan. Go figure ;)
I saw in an interview with the front man tom, someone asked him "does god really hate us all?" He replied and laughed " nah, but it sure does sound badass" .
Slayer is just a wicked band to get yourself pumped and jam along to, there sure are people who take it serious though.
At the end of the day, they sure are not going to sing about running through a field of flowers describing the joys of lavender haha

Koen Hobbelink Sorry about the confusion. I think Lombardo is the christian, but i am not really sure to be honest.
I think it is funny that there is 6 comments and 66 likes, but I am a Christian and love metal.
7:05 Christian claims "Atheist" doesn't see the inherent contradiction in what hes saying, "They never do." Yet they:
Think there's an all knowing god, yet also think we have free will...
Think there's an All knowing god, yet "god" didn't know adam and eve would eat the apple...
Think there's a "god" that sent Himself, as a sacrifice to himself, to escape the punishment he created himself, for the sins he invented himself....
Thinks that slavery is wrong, yet the bible does nothing *except* endorse and provide guidelines on to enslave people....
But yeah, it's the Atheists who don't see contradictions..... Right.....
dementare if God can see the future, that would imply the future is pre determined and we don't have free will. If he cannot see the future, is he truly all knowing/all powerful?
Simon Harris perhaps my sarcasm in that last sentence wasn't strong enough, but I agree with you. As I was giving examples of the contradictions that christians ignore. But thanks for demonstrating the actual contradiction in the "all knowing/free will" concept.
Who said we believed in free will ?
Don't worry, I understood what you were getting at and just wanted to elaborate a little further!
Also (being totally serious here) no orthodox Christian Believes god sent himself. I’d be glad to explain trinitarianism to you if you’d like.

React to angel of death it’s a classic of slayer that’s lyrical
Classic, yes....but 'lyrical'? Hardly!
Yeah, it's THE Slayer classic.
What I meant was the lyrics are not the definition of 'lyrical' ("expressing the writer's emotions in an imaginative and beautiful way") but are deliberately full of horror. However, it is one of my fav Slayer songs. I was also at Auschwitz recently and this song was going through my mind!
This album was released on THE September 11th. I was a high school freshman listening to this album while watching the towers fall. That was powerful. I was a metal head ever since.
I literally thought your videos were about the "shock them" value, but then when you guys (especially Vin) broke down a song I used to hate to listen to and kinda made me feel a little better about it, I love hearing your guy's breakdowns of these songs. We as a metal community can be very smart and see the imagery or the hidden messages in what some people think is a hateful song, but really isn't or it has another meaning behind it. But to get your perspectives on it is literally awesome bc it shows me a whole other perspective that I wasn't even thinking about at all! You two are very smart and thoughtful individuals and I think sometimes thats what metal is about or at least many metal artists are very deep meaningful and thoughtful individuals.

That’s so awesome that your medical condition was gone suddenly. But if you take everyone in the world that had the same condition at the same time you did; similar body types, ages and etc. If you went back a looked at their results, pretty much everyone would fit somewhere on a bell curve. People like you that suddenly had no issue. People that went through a course of treatment and moved on without continued serious issues. People that went through the treatment and responded poorly and have to be in constant medical care. People that suddenly found out they had the medical condition and then died shortly there after. Everyone would fit somewhere on that curve. The facts that you were prayed over and you ended up getting better are unrelated. But I’m glad you did get better, because now I get to enjoy your videos!
I don’t know how you could say they were I related 20+ years after the fact. You don’t have enough empirical data to make such concrete assertions bd neither do I, that’s why I stated I believed a miracle happened. Just pushing you to think with some self criticism. Other than that I don’t think your other points are crazy
VinAnd Sori I agree with you about not having the data I was attempting to make a generalization about all medical conditions and results. And basically any other phenomena humans are involved in. Given enough time and enough people for any particular scenario that has varying degrees of measuring it, everyone winds up on a bell curve. Outliers left and right, average J’s all around the middle. Generally speaking.
Do I actually need 41 minutes of this?
Overthought Musik it's just them trying to justify their belief in a magical man that can do no wrong and is all powerful yet most people have horrible terrible lives filled with suffering at the hands of the elites of the world but we should all just blindly allow it because if we all take our suffering and throw away our only known life carrying on the status quo, we all get super eternal mega happy rewards forever! Just throw this life away and you're set for eternity! Promise, now give your money to church and don't rock the boat too much!

I think Tom sounds like the singer from Snapcase on this album.
"if you live in America, you live a sheltered life".
Try telling that to a kid growing up in the ghettos of Camden, Chicago, Michigan ect. I don't think they would think their life's are sheltered at all.
I mean, compare that to other ghettos around the world that make the worst areas of America look like Disneyland.
As ice cube said. Every hood's the same. Comparing poverty in different countries is stupid af. If a person is poor they likely have a very limited compression of another countries level of poverty. Don't @ me with statistics you searched on google.
In America anywhere the democrats run is a total shithole
I don't think the lyrics refer to the poverty line... People of any background or origin can "find shelter" in ideas, some good, some bad. When you have a look at it, most terrorists have had a pretty shit life. They found shelter in their convictions. Some people go for drugs. Some for religion. Some surround themselves with friends. The point is always to attain a certain peace of mind trough mental conviction. Uncertainty is something human beings don't like. I feel like that's what "sheltered" means. The "easy solution" to uncertainty.
they started headbanging at the same time towards the end of the song 😂
“... they never do.”
Sooooo SMART
There's kind of an I hate Santa Claus song called Hey Santa Claus by Kevin Bloody Wilson.

I think Tom Araya is actually being ironic. He’s making fun of the person who believes,”god hates us all”, he’s seeing from that type of persons point of view but not necessarily agreeing with it.

There is actually a song about Santa not keeping his promise of giving someone their perfect gift. It’s called “December 25th” by Dream Evil.
Just FYI guys Tom Araya and I think the drummer are actually Catholic. I think they just have no problem rhetorically attacking their own faith as part of their art.
Tom's Father was a major person in his local Catholic church...and Dave Lombardo is Cuban who also had a very Catholic upbringing...tho Paul Bostaph was the drummer on this album

And I find this straight up and simple.. always understood the song this way: all the crimes and horrors in the lyrics are simply what the band see in the world; and he's saying all this shit is happening because well - God hates us all. And that we should all quit living a sheltered religious life because the whole humanity is always in chaos anyway, because again, God hates us all.
Makes sense !
he's been a 'rock star' since he was 18?? Umm Slayer hardly started off automatically huge.. look up their first recorded concert ever.. they weren't 'born into playing huge stadiums' lolol
Well..... they weren’t grinding for a decade sir! 🧐🧐🧐
They were grinding for years before getting any REAL recognition, and even then, It was only recognition within the metal community, with the hardcore fans (after the albums Reign in Blood and South of Heaven). It's hardly superstardom. They weren't Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, all the glam/hair metal bands, or even Metallica. Kinda hard to judge someone's life and what they have or haven't been through, unless you're them. They didn't play huge stadiums for most of their prime (the 80's) so they've done nothing but grind the entire time. But hey, who's keeping score lol
Slayer has done alright for themselves...so much so that Tom can choose to retire. I do agree Slayer worked hard...2009 live shows since 1982. Only took two years off in 1993 and 1997. Since 1998 they have averaged 68 shows a year. Slayer is consistently great live...they hit the stage and play hard...certainly not the same as in their heyday with a wild/headbanging Tom and Jeff and Dave...but...Holt is an original thrasher and worthy replacement...Bostaph has earned his stripes 15th year with Slayer...Araya still sounds great live. Looking forward to this upcoming tour...2 weeks the pit awaits.
Dude it didnt take them long at all to get big ya moron
You guys really make me laugh. Thanks for that! God Hates Us All was released on 9/11. Not their best work, but epic nonetheless. And it is fun to hear old mythologies still clung to with such ferverence. Thank you!!
Love his face at 4:56 ish.
Same I mine when I first heard it.
What the **** is this. Amazing
Great!!!! You guys should do Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel by Behemoth!!!!
For sure! -Sori✌🏻
And watch the official video of that song.
What is that about?
to the "i don't see anyone making the 'I hate Santa song'". that isn't a very good observation to me. (ignoring the fact that Tom Araya {the vocalist} is a catholic, not bashing cause there wasn't really a way you guys would know this) the reason people are very vocal about not believing in a god is because there are still billions of people on this planet who do and many of whom proselytize to those who don't believe. Religion isn't something that people keep to themselves as any relationship with a being you believe in should be. Religion directly affects those who don't believe all the time and needs to have action taken against it . In parts of the world still under theocratic rule there are laws against "blasphemy" and in the western world it wasn't until recently that gays were afforded the same rights as non gays. Rights need to be fought for and this discussion needs to be had, while I do enjoy your content that was a very ignorant statement on your part from my point of view. As for the extremity of the song in this particular instance the reason for it is because it sounds awesome. It isn't really something to be taken as seriously as you guys are. (again not something id bash you guys for because i don't see a way you guys woulda known that Tom Araya and i think Kerry King as well are Christians). Non believers are a minority group that need to have their voice heard
Well that’s why we have the podcast... we understand that on this forum we get to dominate the conversation Bc it’s only us two. If we bring folks like yourself into the podcast and you are allowed to speak it balances perspective. Think about going on the show, I see what you’re saying about the Santa thing, I agree wit about 80% of your argument, let’s chat on the cast!
Yesss you just witnessed slayer
The craziest thing about the God Hates Us All record is that it was released on September 11, 2001.
Slayer - wicked
React New Faith of slayer the lyrics is more brutal
all that shit is fucking brutal. Exile, War Zone, Payback...
I am enjoying your videos...very refreshing to hear your opinions. Most Christians I know are so afraid of giving anything a chance that they find threatening. How strong is their faith in they can't face these things?
Glad you figured it out Vin 110%
