- I was going to release this one around Halloween but since the movie this song is featured in, Halloween Kills, just released yesterday -I figured I would unload it on you guys today....and what do you know...it's a Ghost song!
It's been a while since I've covered a Ghose tune and MAN did they come back with a great song. The drummer on this one pulled out all the stops in the middle breakdown section and showed off some other drumming elements not seen in their older tunes. I digg it!
I also had to expand on my Ghost kit a little to include some high racktoms. I ended up using the rim triggers on my normal rack toms to cover the additional sounds. You can see those being triggered near the begging of the song. Overall, I am really happy with the sounds I got with this one.
If you read down this far, I have this HUGE project I am working on and it's going to take time to complete. I try to release a UA-cam drum cover once a month but I also want to focus on this project. So hopefully I won't miss releasing a song, but it could happen. Once this HUGE project is done, I think you guys might really enjoy it, that is, if I can actually get through all of it. One of the hardest parts is done; making a drum preset that sounds just like the original. That process took me like a month and a half to dial in. The people who have heard the sample, do agreed it's pretty damn close to the orignal. Look for it mid-2022! 😂🤣

Thanks for this! It's nice to be able to see the complexity of the drums woven into the song. It makes me appreciate the instrument and the artists even more.
Drummers are sometimes just forgetten members of the band because we are in the background doing our thing. Of course there are many drummers that stand out front and you just have to watch them all the time; like Carter Beauford from DMB?! The drummers in Ghost however are just serving the song, so their parts are not too flashy. This song shows some elements of flash to it and that's what I liked about it. It was a real fun playing this song... Thanks for the comment Cayce!

I wouldn't say I am a human metronome, I just played it like it's played...some songs you can just lock in pretty easy and I do with a lot of the Ghost stuff. 😎👻 I do stride to be 100% accurate to the original with my covers so that others can see how it's played. Thanks so much for the comment. Some songs require less practice than others. This one maybe took me a week to learn it before I recorded it while others can take a couple weeks.

LOL Jason, I had to look up what "bialnciati" means. 😂🤣 But let me tell you, I stuggled with bad sounds for a long time on drum covers, look back at my oldest ones to see what I mean. It wasn't until I got Superior Drummer 3 that it all came together nice and tight. There is a reason why SD3 is an industry leader in drum samples. Damn dude I’m loving the new high Tom rim triggers! Really opens up the range and I have to say this is one of the coolest Ghost songs I’ve heard to date. Great melody and some interesting time changes without losing the groove! I hope they do more like this in the future. Of course you nailed it too Bryan. I’m intrigued to see the project you are working on…Always takes some time to get that perfect sound right? Hey I picked up Fields of Rock yesterday and so far I’m liking it. The producer worked with Ghost so you might find some familiar sounds in this pack! Great work on this one dude! Cheers!
Yea, the Ayotte 8"x8" and 8"x10" rack toms from The Rock Foundry SDX is what I used. They sound very nice! I listened to The Fields of Rock and it is next on my list. I really wanted Sweetwater to match Toontracks offering of buying 2 SDX and get a 3rd one free. I contacted my sales engineer and he said he was going to check but never got back to me. I guess I will just wait for a good financing option so I only have to pay like $4 a month for 3 years. 🤣😂 Thanks as always for the support Mike! You got something you working on? Thanks Vitor! For me, I love the rack tom fills at 0:14 which posed a little problem for me as my kit was not large enough to accommodate. But luckily with edrums, I can assign whatever sounds I need on the rims of each drum as well; so this worked out well. I appreciate the comment!

Hey dude. I came back to your cover just to ask how you make the song drumless. I know there is an VST that can help you do it but it is not very reliable.
I actually do not remove any original drum tracks from the song(s). I just mix it so you can barely hear them. This is why my drums are usually louder in the mix. I have tried some of those apps that remove elements of the song and you're correct, they don't do a very good job. Thanks for the question.

I think Roland has got some of the finest e-kits on the market. You are going to pay a lot for them but their triggering is outstanding which makes it feel very close to playing an acoustic set. Couple that with Toontrack's Superior Drummer 3 (which is what I use), people can hardly tell I am playing an electronic kit.
