These simplified versions of Nick's recordings are great. It shows that all he really needed was the guitar and his voice. His talent was that great. Just beautiful! Thanks for posting.
this is a Great version of an Excellent song. Love to hear Nick breathing in between verses in the song... makes it sound much more Real and Full of Life. R.I.P Nick.
Speechless...we listened to this version besides the fire in the deep night at the Gathering last here in Tanworth...4 of us left...surrounded by trees...Nick's Spirit was there definitely🙏🌟💞🌀🌟☀️🌝☪️☯️🔮🔥
More guitar and vocal mixes of Nick Drake's Five Leaves Left and Bryter Layter please? Would love to hear all of the songs sans-orchestra. It would be just like Pink Moon, which I'm sure most fans (or at least me, anyway) prefer.
Someday, they should release two disc special editions of Nick's first two albums; the first disc would be the original album, and the second would be the same tracks but with the orchestra mixed out so it's just Nick's voice and instrument.
Thank you for this - I'm sure this is what Nick Drake intended. As much as I respect John Cale, I've always felt that he took over this track in particular and actually messed it up with his meanderings on the piano. I've not dared to say this out loud before but I get the feeling I may not be alone in this view.
I agree with you completely. It’s unnecessary and doesn’t add to the song at all. Compare it to the piano on Pink Moon, which adds to the music. It’s not just noodling on top of it
I love the original version of this. To me all the accompaniment is very tastefully done and very dreamy sound. It's cool hearing it like this too though. The piano on the original around 1:45 really adds a lot with the melody it plays. I missed that here.
Seems I'm in the camp that enjoys the production. I know the rawness of this version may help us feel a bit closer to Nick in a way that may help us understand him a but more. But in the context of capturing a recording artist whilst competing with what was happening musically at the time I totally respect and understand John Cale's approach. The song still stands as a testament to Nick writing. Both versions work for different reasons, in my opinion.
I love the mix of one of the greatest songs. However, showing so many pictures of Nick during the video in such a rapid succession kind of mars the 'cadence' of the tune. Using only a third of the pics for twice as long would be better, should you ever consider a 'remix'.
Really wish we could get remastered vox/guitar for this whole album ... and five leaves left. The strings are a bit too much for me. It’s why pink moon is my absolute favorite
I love the deep inhales he takes before each line.
Brighten my Northern Sky
Who could ever be so cruel to break this gentle man's heart?

Imagine the many great songs we would be enjoying now if he is still around. I would never tire of listening to this song.

Yes.. it's so true...the first thing I noticed...it's amazing...as if he were here now...Thank you Nick for always 🙏💞🌟☀️🌝☯️

I agree with you 100% I much prefer drake without the overdubbed strings. I'd love to hear the first two albums stripped down in the vein of pink moon
@@HWynn87 they are not overdubbed. Its live in studio, besides, I love the orchestrations.
@@trevorforsstrom8390 right, well however they were recorded they often take away from his music. He thought so himself too

Not only is this a horrible idea, it's also impossible as most of the tracking was done live, especially FLL.
Brater layter has already been done by someone using AI with all the other instruments mixed out. It’s available here on UA-cam.
Simply the best. If I have to pick my number 1 song this would be it.
Love you Nick...
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful pictures
Nick was truly a good looking guy .
I love your mix! This is delightful! Nick is magic!
Love these pics
This is so lovely. Thank you.

I love what Cale did with it, it's beautiful. This sounds unfinished to me. Still lovely, but crying out to be arranged.

But now you're here....🙏💜🌟🍀

This is really great, where did the mix come from? :)
Marvellous, both the mix without the John Calery and the photos. Now I can transcribe this beautiful song properly.
Who are the monsters that click thumbs down?
Love this! He sounds like he’s struggling to breathe at times. Maybe he was full of a cold!
IMHO, I think you should lower the volume of the vocals some, and add some plate reverb to them.
agree, vocals are too loud and too dry
I think you let the “band” sing only slightly more behind the audio at the beginning but sounds great
👍
Never knew he was Gabrielles' brother

Turn the vocals down a bit and his guitar up a bit and it's perfect.
Boy howdy the vocals were mixed way too high volume wise. Shame.
Louder guitar in these though
