Why split a perfectly good witch?
Use a Fisker Isocore 4 lbs hammer to hit an Estwing blue splitter axe. These are the best trunk splitting tools.
Just curious - why would a 4 lb hammer work better than a heavy maul or sledge?

How about hardwood wedges to complement with the metal ones?
Try letting them dry out before you split them.

For its strength and lightness i would have to guess that the light wedge is titanium. Ita hard enough to take the blows like steel and strong enough to push apart the wood but still light. Aluminum would crack under those blows so i think it is probably titanium
Titanium is relatively coarse and malleable, but idk, your probably right.
It's just normal Aluminium.
They are aluminum. Over time they will shroom out on the striking edge.

Apparently according to fiskers if you use the blunt side of the maul it voids the warranty I fell victim to that when mine broke
