@BlackholeTtson452 I don't think they will ever return, airplanes already make a lot of pollution, supersonic ones make A LOT more pollution than normal airplanes and requires a lot more of fuel, so they will never return.

@@nomenbeb5747 not really. The new version is going to be much quieter nd fuel efficient than concorde. Concorde itself was very young in flying hours at retirement and could have flown another 10 to 12 years beyond 2003 had it not been for 9 11

@@nomenbeb5747 it won't be this concorde unfortunately. Although it's technically got many hours and years left. The economics of today will not support its commercial viability plus the operating cost would have exceeded beyond insurmountable levels. Even a return to heritage flights via third party is unlikely as BA will never sell a Concorde or airbus will never support it anything other than a museum piece. Getting a Concorde back into full commercial service is beyond impossible whilst a return to flight in a non commercial role via charitable trust is extremely unlikely although technically possible. However based on reality its unlikely to ever happen.
The future is. Boom SST which is said to have been in interest with united Airlines set to fly in 2030 according to reports
Concorde was retired early in 2003 due to the fall in revenue and soaring operational costs which couldn't be covered due to a major slump in demand after the 9 11 economic downturn.

Brilliant plane. As a kid my dad would take me to Leeds Bradford to see it. Even living about 15 miles from Leeds Bradford, you knew when Concorde was approaching as it made an absolute racket. I was gutted when Concorde stopped flying.

No matter how nowadays airlines justify it was too expensive and how luxurious an a380 is: There it was a plane that looked like a beautiful white bird with 4 rolls royce 593 olympus engines under her wings flying 1350 mph, more than twice the speed of sound faster than a rifle bullet with 100 people drinking champagne... eating caviar and treated like rockstars arriving NY BEFORE you left London. Concorde was a time machine. If that is not great then I don't know what is. 🙄

22nd October 2003. G-BOAG visits Manchester as part of the UK farewell tour. The following day, G-BOAG would conduct the final BA001 Concorde service from LHR to JFK.
A week after this video, G-BOAG's elder sister, G-BOAC, would land at MAN at the end of her final flight, arriving at her new home as the Runway Visitor Park. As of 2022, G-BOAC is arguably the best preserved ex-BA Concorde, but G-BOAG, over in Seattle, isn't far behind.

I visited Alpha Charlie at the Runway Park a few months ago, and had the priviledge of going on board and even sitting in the Captain's seat on the flight deck. Amazing experience.
I've heard tell that Alpha Echo in Barbados is meant to the best preserved BA airframe as it's been kept indoors out of the elements since the day she was retired, unlike all the others.

Hard to believe it is now 19 years since her retirement. 24th October 2003 when the three final commercial flights landed at London Heathrow, one after the other. 26th November 2003, the very last flight by any Concorde, British Airways G-BOAF, from Heathrow to Filton, via The Bay of Biscay for one final supersonic M2 dash.

I was on the way home from a Honda lauch in Manchester and suggested to the 2 colleagues with me we call in as I knew it was taking off. Thought they'd say no but jumped at it. So glad we did. I am thinking of starting a campaign about this,it is a disgrace. This aircraft should be placed on a pedestal where everyone can see it.Not tucked away by a storage area near a runway.!
If you want to check this look up Heathrow on Google maps and see where Concorde is.You will see what i mean.

The Soviets actually made their own Concorde, the TU-144, and it’s maiden flight was in 1968, one year before Concorde’s 1969 maiden flight. The reason the TU-144 is quite vaguely heard of in aviation history is because it was such a failure compared to Concorde. You see, in 1960s, while the space race was on, the race for a supersonic jet was also on between UK/France and, of course, the Soviets. The trouble for the Soviets, was they were so far behind the Concorde in progress. So they did 2 things: 1) Stole some of Concorde’s design features, and 2) cut out a lot of the luxury technology involved in the Concorde that allowed comfort and innovation to take place inside the jet. It still worked for them though as, like I said earlier, they beat Concorde. However, because the TU-144 was so rushed, the experience of flying inside it was atrocious; the noise inside the plane was incredibly loud, coming from the engines! It was so loud that you couldn’t speak to the person next to you and assistants literally had paper notes ready to pass out. Some even described the jet as the worst thing next to torture. As a result, the TU-144 was retired from public service just a year after it’s public initiation, in 1970. The laughable thing? It only had one public flight! Concorde, however, was a total success for 34 years until BA and Air France realised profit was deficit. So they discontinued it. Still, it goes so show: quality is priority!
