Pat, I keep th x-stitch threads threadedand run it behind the newer colors if needed on that House. You might have a lot of threaded needles but you just run the thread under. Just a thought for you.

I had to make decisions on my cross stitch too. I have no wall space in my home so I eliminated large projects and am focusing on ornaments or small pillows for my tier tray. I am so much happier not having all these large projects that I wouldn't have finished. Your sit down chats have helped me make positive decisions. Thank you.

I also cross stitch and do most of my stitching in the evening while my husband and I watch TV. Sometimes I do get some time during the day to stitch. I enjoy fixing a cup of hot tea, putting on some relaxing, soft music and stitching for a while. I do find it relaxing and therapeutic. I have heard that some people schedule some time and put in at least a floss length in a project every morning, not a lot but it is making some progress on their projects. Hope you can schedule in some stitching time that is enjoyable for you.
I am watching from the sidelines on What’s In Your Closest right now, and I love seeing the different fabrics and perspectives on these blocks.
AND, your Spools quilt is perfect hung in your sewing studio. Have a good day and Happy Stitching.

My brain always wants to process and plan projects when I'm trying to fall asleep. I love to cut out a new quilt & then I have to pick a UFO or a quilt that needs quilted and bound. I have to finish one of those before I start the new project. That really motivates me to work on old and new at the same time.

I think in time and linear progress. I often have several projects going at once but I plan them in stages. So one project is in the design and plan stage, one in cutting and piecing another is batting and quilting and finally batting and finishing. So my thought process is usually having one in each stage and how/when to move each of them forward. It works well for me because I like some stages better than others or some projects better than others. This way nothing gets stalled and if I get tired of a project, I only need to finish one stage before I can move onto another one! I was an event planner….large scale events…in my corporate life!!!

    • @andrsn4u455
      @andrsn4u455 2 місяці тому +1

I am exactly like you. I love having different projects in different stages. I decide what I feel like doing when I walk in the craft room. If I don’t feel like doing something I’ll straight up my craft room and then just cut scraps to sort in my bins (2.5, 3, 5, 7, 10) and then I’m ready to sew, piece, sandwich or quilt. I love all stages of quilting 😊

Love the ombre fabric, not sure about the stripe with it. It reads more yellow on my screen. It would make a great binding. I usually have an applique project or a crazy patch project for my hand work. I feel lost if I don't have one going. My 'scheduled' sewing is usually for the sewing machine. I prep, prep and prep then spend a day sewing up a storm. Great block parade!

It would help if you thread up all the colors you are using for your temperature houses so they are ready to go. Then use the "parking" method on the top of your work. Since you're stitching on AIDA, carrying threads on the back won't show through on the front. However, I would break threads when moving to the next house. Thread up as many colors you are using (on different needles obviously). Stitch a color and bring the needle up to the top of your work and park it out of your way so you can continue doing the same with each thread color. If you're familiar with the term "confetti stitching" it's the only way to go in my opinion (without going bonkers). What you're doing sounds very similar to confetti stitching. What would be cool is stitching the color chart at the bottom of your work. That way it would actually remind you of the temperatures that occurred each day. Not sure how one would incorporate that but it seems like a fun idea. To stitch the degrees, you use one strand of floss and backstitch the numbers. It would be a lot of extra work but when someone in the future has your cross stitch they would understand what you were doing. Something easier would be to type up the chart and attach it to the back of the work. Lori Holt's library card idea would be a really neat way add the information. Good luck with it. I'm sure it will be really pretty when it's completed.

I think the gray with the strips I would use for the middle row, lay it out on the wall. I think that would work with the other two mores on each side

Concerning the cross stitch thread color changes; would you consider threading a few needles in the range you see for that week or month? Leave them threaded (and label them!) and just use the ones you need that day or week. I would also have an issue bouncing from one row to another just to not have to change the thread as often. Love your videos! I am not able to join them live, but I rarely miss an episode that evening. ❤

The label is a bit of a pain to me. Some colors are much too close and it seems like even more work to do that than just do the one thread each week and be done

On your rods stitch, I leave my colors of thread, threaded on several needles.

I would say look for the lighter ombré but go black if you can’t find anything.

You crack me up - I keep a kan ban board to track project throughput so I totally get you! I think that’s what drew me to you in the first place - just keep going! I also feel the need for a sitting quietly project - so I’ve added quilling and knitting

What is a kan ban board? I enjoy knitting and puzzles when not quilting.

@@kathygospodarek8541 it is a project organization method - I used it for work to manage many differing projects, now use it for quilting!

I am also struggling with my temperature cross stitch. I decided to do the high and low like you and after January completely regretted it. I haven't touched mine since February, so you are doing great compared to me. 😅

if i were you, i'd start with April. Then go forward. At some point do a day or 2 on each of the missed months. I did finish mine so now i can go back to once a week

Pat, perhaps yellow (for the sun) and then gray as moon is starting to cover it and then black when the moon has obscured the sun for Earth......

On the eclipse, the stripe color seems off. What about a bluish gray, light
