    Short version. Pvd doesnt hold up for shit.

      Short version: The test is worth less than shit at best, as they don't give any information whatsoever.
      Longer version:
      A proper, modern coating will withstand more than most can imagine. That's why a whole lot of high quality products feature them.
      A good example for what a proper coating can handle are coated carbide inserts or endmills, they often can remove astounding amounts of material without having any visible wear at all even in quite tough and abrasive materials. Or parts with metal-metal contact in engine/Motorsports applications.
      I don't know what they did here, but a proper hard coating won't show signs of wear that easily. Probably not even Chrome - which looks here as if there have been abrasive particles.
