I know this is an older video but I am just getting back into fishing more seriously now that my girls are raised. When I slowed down my fishing in the 80's the hot new unit was the Hummingbird ID which was an LCD that would show red for fish. Getting back in now i am blown away by the progress made in sonar tech. This is so far the best video i have seen breaking down some of the differences. Thanks
I think the best way to mount them is on another pole rather than the trolling motor. On most boats though this is an inconvenience as it ties up one hand to operate it.
I initially bought the livescope ice fishing bundle last fall. But I recently picked up kayak fishing for trolling for walleye. I also pole mounted the transducer and it works great. Today I updated for perspective view and made a bracket out of an aluminum bar. I haven't seen much video on perspective view and I'm curious how it's been working.
Thanks for this video, it's probably the best and most informed comparison I've seen. I would love to see both of these units showing the same image. I think that would be the most valid comparison. If someone has them both on their boat, lets see what they are both seeing. I can see the benefits of each and of course the benefit of having both, but if you're a weekend warrior and not getting paid to do this stuff, you might not be able to justify hanging $10,000.00 off the front of your boat so it may be a one or the other decision. Seeing them side by side, showing the same structure, fish, topology, etc., would be very beneficial for us to see the difference between these two and make an informed decision.
Agreed...on the water footage of the same object will really be huge. My intention was more to compare the technologies against each other. Of course on the water could either confirm my suspicions or prove me completely wrong!
My buddy has both on his boat. While the 360 is really nice, the Live Scope offers a big advantage to seeing what the fish are doing in real time. Lawren got it right when comparing image quality. They are two different technologies. The biggest downfall I see to the Live Scope is when you need to turn the TM which this video covered as well. I am putting the Live Scope on my boat next week.
Like the review. I would clarify that if you mount the garmin on a independent separate livescope pole from the trolling motor then it doesn't have to follow the way the boat faces or moves. Further spot lock and where you point your boat doesn't matter for the direction of the livescope image as you can direct that separately.
Wow! Amazing video comparison of both units. Didn't even know Garmin had released their perspective mount. Heard Mega Live was just announced this past week and am waiting to see what it offers. Thanks again for all the work you put into this. It was extremely helpful!

Yeah both are different and help in certain situations. LiveScope changes the way you fish for sure (and not saying that's a good thing, but it's true).
I went with mega 360 I fish mainly bass and I think seeing the cover and structure is more important that my lure or fish. But I am impresses by the live scope perspective mode I did not know about that and I can see that being a huge help and comparable to mega 360
I think Mega 360 for structure and LiveScope in forward or down mode is best. But putting both on your boat gets expensive so it is nice that Garmin has this option. And Mega 360 does a good job of marking fish, but just not in real time like LiveScope
I just added a detachable mount with shaft, kinda like a trolling motor mount but a lot smaller with a turn handle on top to point the livescope in whatever direction I want. I have a mount on my trolling motor as well so if I know I'm going to be fishing very windy conditions or rough water I use the add on mount if normal conditions I use my trolling motor mount. Not hard to do and when using spot lock you can look anywhere you want with it and no problem. I don't mind the extra work or little bit if trouble changing over when I get the money at the end of the day... Like I said not really any trouble and works great... Unlike 360 the Garmin is real time and you can see the fish react to your bait and that give you a lot of info at times. Enough to make the difference in getting a paycheck or not.
and so the next move for Garmin is to make the transducer so that it can be used with the trolling motor dictating its direction or independently of the trolling motor direction. Get the engineers on that one.
You can do that now by mounting the transducer on a pvc pipe and not on the trolling motor. Seen a few videos where guys just do that and turn it to the directing they want.
It's an option for sure... But I'm not a fan of something the ties up a hand when you are fishing. This is where Garmin's gesture control remote could come in handy maybe?
Lawren thank you the comparison. I like the Humminbird because of its clarity and their customer service. The livescope is too fuzzy for me. Lowrance is out of the question. That company will not assist you in your time of need. And I was a long time customer who became a "throw away".
I agree if it is detail you are after Humminbird is the way to go. They are the only ones that I am aware of that repair units as well. The others just replace so it can get expensive if past warranty. And Lowrance only services for 5 years after initial purchase. After that its "Nothing I can do for you!", which I don't agree with as well.
Pair the mega 360 with an ultrex mount, and then get a transducer rod for the live scope. That way you can spot lock, which doesn't effect the 360, and use the transducer rod to point the live scope where you want. Also, most people don't know this but remote controlled transducer rods are in beta testing currently.
I'm going to be running both. To start with, I have the livescope mounted to the barrel of my trolling motor head.... until a perspective bracket comes in. One limitation I can see coming with the perspective mounting (on trolling motor shaft) is that the livescope transducer most likely will contact the 360 transducer if the trolling motor is raised all the way up. The only remedy I can tell for now is to further limit the height the trolling motor can be raised in shallow water...... Or modify the 360 mount so that transducer is further from the trolling motor shaft. Don't forget all of this together will be the weed catcher 5000..... another drawback, but so worth it!!!
Interesting, I just put all new electronics on and went with the new Lowerance Elite and their live. User interface is the simplest vs. Humingbird and even Garmin.
The point about the difficulties of having the Livescope LVS32 on the trolling motor whilst spot locking for example is easily fixed - you use either a retail prong or make your own (easily) and have complete control from the helm. The smart money is having fully control over the LVS32 - I could never see the sense in having the transducer on an electric motor with spot lock and heading lock etc... Cheers
The video (like all my sonar videos) are done from the perspective of a bass tournament angler so additional poles are practical to mount or use in that application. For other applications a pole may work, so for us the problem still persists
Side Imagine (SI) on the trolling motor is extremely beneficial. The video failed to mention that the M360 also works in SI mode. Additionally, you can purchase a Down Imaging mega + unit, add mega 360, and essentially upgrade that unit with a y-cable giving you SI/DI+/2D/M360 at a major cost savings. Oh, and Humminbird's new 2D is a low Q HW true CHIRP with these units. Mega 360 works extremely well in shallow and deeper water (I've tried up to 35ft deep, looks amazing!). Many people get around spot lock with a separate mounting setup for livescope. This can be annoying to constantly adjust the direction but it's effective.
The Mega DI+ units will show SI with the Mega 360? I know the SI will do that, but seeing how this isn't a network source I would be surprised if that was the case. If it is that's great though!
I am in the market to upgrade..I bought a new boat Oct 2021..it came with a helix 7..I want 360 Down imagery and Side...I don't know enough to know What I don't know ..
You don't have to mount the livescope transducer on your trolling motor. You could have separated mount for lvs32, this will solve the issue mentioned in your video.
You don't have to, but really the trolling motor is the most convenient place as it keeps your hands free. I personally know 1 person who has used a second pole and everyone else hasn't. So I don't think the majority is there yet.
I have a 360 hb, it is excellent if you are only looking for structure view, but as fishing I really don't recommend it all. HB as long time they should upgrade their technology as what Garmin did with livescope perspective even so they didn't do it as 3D or mark fish with different color like Lawrence 3D. I am going for livesscope because we need to know as a fish movement direction with bait. good job man
Haha nice! That was Talladega 2009 when Jamie McMurray won. The fall race. Single file around the rim until the last 5 laps. I don't miss the COT at all :)
The question I have that has not been answered in this video or others that I have watched. I understand how they can be used for fish finding but can these systems be used for sailboat safety. For example; if you are for an anchorage for by boat in the Bahamas where the waters are shallow and grounding is a real threat. Can I use these systems to spot danger ahead in time for me to stop or maneuver the boat if the water becomes too shallow or a coral head pops up? Great job on the video covering this amazing technology.
You do the greatest job i have ever seen on UA-cam explaining things. I watch them all over and over. Thank You. Why would you chose the Garmin at the console verses the humminbird. I only ask because I very seldom fish from my bow I am always more comfortable fishing from the rear sides of my boat. Guess getting old and can sit done easier if need be
Thanks for the kind words! I personally prefer the Garmin for their operating system over the Humminbird. Personally I wouldn't buy a Solix system as my main one because of how annoying they are to use. And I wouldn't buy a Helix system because they aren't touchscreen. I don't really like Garmin's menu system either as Lowrance's is by far the most well thought out menu. But they don't have the same sonar abilities of Garmin or Humminbird. Again this is all just my personal opinion and its not right or wrong, just my thoughts/feelings. Humminbird sells a ton of Helix units because there are a lot of people who disagree with me on touchscreen and prefer to have a non touch unit. In that case a Helix main system and a Garmin up front with Panoptix Livescope would work. Give me an apple phone and I find it so frustrating to use because the Android system makes more sense to me. The next guy will be the opposite. My recommendation is always to get to a store that has all the units on display so you can play with them. Then decide which technologies you'll use the most based on how you'll fish. My videos are always coming from a tournament/serious recreational bass anglers perspective because that's how I think. A walleye guy or a salmon trolling guy would be able to use the same units, just differently. Hope that makes sense :)
@@InDepthSonar I love touch screen in every way on every thing. Last year I bought the Solix12 and a Unterra112 because of the deploy and spot lock. During this winter here was getting the winter itch and I bought the 360 and mounted it hasn't been in the water yet. Then last week I bought a Solix10 because it was Si-Di G2 for under $1900 new in box. How I am thinking of selling the Solix12 and buy the Garmin. But I don't like standing for hours up front. Just getting to old. So placement might need to be all in back area some how This can be very indictive with all the toy options
Hey Lawren, just love your videos! If one were to use both on the bow, would one need to be on a pole, or could both be on the trolling motor? Also, just curious, what trolling motor are you using. Thanks.
Yes you could mount both on the trolling motor if it is an Ultrex. The Garmin Force or Lowrance Ghost don't have a mount you can buy out of the box, but I am sure something could be fabricated to run the "Ultrex Mega 360" on the Force or Ghost. I have a Minn Kota right now.
Yeah, but that's not practical for a bass boat. It ties up another hand to move it so the issue remains for bass fishermen, who this video is meant for
*I had nothing but troubles when I installed the panoptix in boat with two new Garmin fish finders **allabout.wiki/iz8t** lost sonar this and that .. after doing a lot of reading this thing needs to be direct to battery not to fuse box or spliced into a hot wire . I took everything apart today hooked it up to a stand alone battery and not one error at all . I might get a kayak battery just for this to run on . going this weekend to big musky lake I can not wait !!!!*
Great video. I do have a selfish question for you. I could care less about fishing, as I'm a diver who treasure hunts on my local lake. I'm looking to invest in some sonar this week, and am looking at buying a hummingbird unit to get it. Would you have any other suggestions, as my primary concern is resolution? Thanks!
Yes it's more work too. Ideally 360 for looking for fish on structure and then LiveScope to pick them off in forward mode is the ideal setup, but that comes at quite a price lol
@@InDepthSonar Lawren, as I currently have bow mount Mega-DI 3GN and dash Mega-SI 3GN, was looking at upgrading to Ultrex with possibly Mega 360. didnt know about Humminbird new product in March. Where can I get info on that product?
Jim, as I currently have bow mount Mega-DI 3GN and dash Mega-SI 3GN, was looking at upgrading to trolling motor to Ultrex with possibly Mega 360. didnt know about Humminbird new product in March. Where can I get info on that product?
Ok, I'm in. Now that Garmin has the GT56 transducer, I've decided it's time for a full upgrade. Garmin at the bow and consul for sidescan , charting, 2D, etc. HB with 360 at the bow for the 360 only. AND, my frustrating MG Xi5 goes away and in comes a new Garmin Force TM. Love the MG Xi5 in every way except that foot pedal, that thing sucks. Otherwise, its a great TM but you have to have a good foot pedal.
Did you end up getting a Force TM? If so, any thoughts/review? I am going all Garmin graphs, but I found the Force TM foot pedal to be very tight/small. I have a size 12 foot...not massive...and my foot (in a deck boot) hang over the pad and accidently pushes buttons. Inadvertent button pushes can be dangerous, so it has given me serious pause on the Force. I might have to go Minn Kota due to the better (safer?) pedal. Unfortunately, I'd lose the networked boat. Tough call.
@@54Burg yes, got it. I'm a size 11.5 shoe. I can't use my normal big shoes very well. I either go shoeless, or I use a pair of Vans which have a small sole. Either works very good. Having the TM networked isn't much of a benefit for me. I've played with that, but I don't use it as networked when I'm fishing. In other words, I don't control my TM from the graphs. That just proved cumbersome. Though if following a contour line from the graph, it would be necessary. I decided I didn't need/want to do that. My only complaint with the Force is that when I spot lock, it backs up to where I was some seconds prior. It's annoying. To cure it, I hit spot lock, wait a few seconds, hit it again to turn it off, then turn it on again. That seems to keep it from backing up. My motorguide TM was much better with it's spot lock. I'll give the Force a B. It does not deserve an A.
Lawren, I need to locate a sunk boat in about 75' of saltwater. The current varies from slack tide to about 4 knts in this area. If I was just drifting in my search boat, would moving at the currents 4 knts provide the speed needed to get a good screen shot? Which unit do you think would be both easiest to use and most accurate in this situation?
4knots will put you right in the ballpark to get a good image. If the boat is large you'll find it even if you are going faster. If it is a small boat (under 15') speed will be more crucial. Any of the units out there today will do what you need. Lowrance Active Imaging will give you the best detail over the largest distance. However, Humminbird and Garmin will provide you with the highest detail, but won't go as far as the Lowrance while maintaining detail.
That shouldn't change...in fact it should be better when you are stationary on the 360. The LiveScope will give you just as good an image, but when you are moving there will be more things changing on the screen (because its updating) and could appear to give you an easier to understand image
Does your perspective change now that there are moveable shafts that are not connected to the tolling motor for the LiveScope, allowing you to be more mobile on the direction it is pointing regardless of the direction of the tolling motor?
Yes and not. Personally for bass fishing I don't find those practical so we're stuck with the trolling motor issue. However, if you can handle letting go of your rod to adjust the pole, then obviously it removes the issue I mentioned
MEGA 360 Pod will provide Side Imaging on the HB control head!!! It stops the rotation of the pod to Give a very good MEGA SI image RIGHT AT THE BOW. great for SI small areas with your trolling motor. no additional equip needed. I have Solix mega + SI units. I have seen it wok on Helix mega + DI unit, but verify this for your self. RMP put a video out.
Yes you can use the Mega 360 as your SI source, but you can't use it at the same time as 360 so it's one of the other. The MDI+ units won't show SI unless you have the Mega 360 plugged into a MSI unit which is networked to the MDI unit
Now this video made my wheels spin I have had a Solix12 with you guessed it 360 . Not even used to its full potential yet I was looking at live scope last week. Well I wanted a second unit and just yesterday I found a great deal on a brand new Solix10 ,I had to have it. Its shipped. NOW I see this and want live scope. But I can't return the 10. So Now I'm thinking sell one of the Solix units and buy the live scope. Thanks for a great Video
Hello, I’m curious out of the three which do you think would be best when you combine open water and ice fishing needs. These units are expensive and I’d like to get one I could use for multi species trips both on the open water and ice. Also any tips on wiring or setting up transducers to go from the boat to the ice?
Great content! I would like to have Mega 360 at the bow and side view at the helm with great mapping. Is this possible with a price tag of $3,500. If so what units would you recommend?
Absolutely great video. We have a MEGA 360 with a Solix 12 G2. It is great for following schools of crappie. My brother-in-laws fish spawn in the Mississippi Delta. They are looking for individual fish around a tree. I recommended that they look at the Livescope. I would love to have one but not enough to pay for the transducer and head unit. If Humminbird comes out with one compatible with my Solix, I will definitely consider it.
I think the hummingbird is more useful for bass fishing. Finding underwater cover and structure seems more important to me than watching fish strike my lure. Although the live scope would be great for finding schools of fish.
Both different tools for different ways of fishing. No right or wrong, just whatever works best for how you fish is what you should get in my opinion. Or get both and have the best of everything!
@@InDepthSonar having both would be awesome for sure! I have a buddy with live scope. Mounting the transfer on the trolling motor has some big disadvantages. Every time you turn the motor you lose sight of what your looking at. So he mounted on a pole and it’s attached to the boat with a ram mount. It works but it doesn’t look very good in my opinion.
If you only had the choice for one which one would you invest in ?I only have a Lawrence Ti now and want to upgrade but the investment of two is to much for my budget for my 14 Jon boat 🤷♂️🤷♂️??
@@InDepthSonar can you please give me some guidance on a unit I might invest in the Echomap I willing to invest $2300-2500 or do I even need to invest that much? I've looked at this bundle Garmin Panoptix Livescope LVS32 System with Echomap 93SV UHD & GT54UHD Bundle and I also have an XI5 trolling motor
I'm thinking I may need to run both too... got the nice deal on the garmin UHD 93sv and planned for Live scope as future upgrade. Also going with the minn kota terrova 55 w/ iPilot. But the MK won't follow contour maps without a Hummingbird! Thus, may need to run both... Oye... going to have to sell the tractor... if I still have a wife... ;o)
I think Mega SI from Humminbird is best today. I prefer Lowrance for their GPS and ease of use over the other brands. Their 2D sonar is also one of the best today
I am driving myself crazy trying to decide the electronics I want on my new boat! I've fished for years however never had my own rig so haven't had a ton of experience playing with the sonar units on my friend's boat. I am intrigued by both Panoptics and Mega 360. I can't decide if either are worth the money for someone who only fishes for fun 2-3 times a week max. Primarily for largemouth. Here's my question(s) about 360. Is is worth it or someone like me? Or is it better to just get a quality downscan/sidescan unit? Do you need two units on the bow? Every video I see seems to have two? Can you toggle between 360 and other views on one unit? Thanks for any guidance you can offer.
I would get a sonar/GPS first, then SideScan, then LiveScope, then 360. But it all depends on how you fish so your order may be different. Anything is better than nothing so if you get LiveScope over 360 its not a bad decision and if you get 360 over LivesScope that's not a bad decision. If you fish once a year both technologies are worth it, if you can afford it. It really comes down to how much you want to invest in it personally. You DO NOT need two units on the bow. I have run two before on several boats, but you can easily get away with one unit. I ran one unit on my last boat and it was an 8" screen and was enough for Panoptix, SideScan, GPS etc.
Too much of a hassle in my opinion to do that, but it is an option that solves the problem I talk about. I don't know of any high level bass tournament guys doing it due to its downfalls
meh, i still catch more fish then my peers who have 360 and/or livescope. No matter how good these technologies are, it still boils down to understanding fish patterns throughout the seasons and fishing techniques. Ive caught fish where my experience tells me i know there's fish, but nothing was captured on sonar.
We bought both units for a research project. Humminbird 360 is too much easy to configurate and run, besides have touch screen. We are trying to do Garmin works, but is not easy for begginners. Lawren, have Garmin an option to save data? We need to count fish in this project...

Build yourself a mounting pole out of PVC for the Livescope. That way you aren't limited to your trolling motor direction. Game changer.
For sure! Can't wait for a motorized one
I have a kayak spot lock . its a bow mounted unit. My livescope will be mounted on its own arm were i can rotate it manually. Great perspective video

by that time they will have superscope that find mermaid and atlantis.

Humminbird/Minn Kota have really got the one boat network thing down. They do it the best for sure!

I think the livescope is more effective mounted on a separate pole or mounting system for the reasons you described
Agreed, however not convenient. That is why most bass pro's haven't adopted that setup yet.
With LiveScope you use a second pole mount...just like 360. This way it doesn't matter where your trolling motor points.
Yeah... Read the comments for my thoughts on that. It's an option for sure though
360 has its purpose. one positive is that you dont have to spin the transducer to see 360 as its constantly updating around your boat.
Thats why you use a Cumberland crappie livescope mount. Turn the trolling motor as you wish separately from your transducer
Yes those mounts help for sure. I am waiting for a remote controlled one
Which one will be better for trolling? I want to see what is in front of the boat or on the side not in the back
Lawren thank you the comparison.
What brand had the remote control rods in testing? I've been waiting for this
@@InDepthSonar I'm not sure it has a brand name yet. My dad is a crappie fishing guide and he got offered to beta test it. I'll see if I can find out.
Yeah that would be awesome. I've been dying for that to come out
Best comparison and explanation I have seen!! 👍
Thank you!!
Don't forget all of this together will be the weed catcher 5000..... another drawback, but so worth it!!!
hahah "weed catcher 5000". That is a downside for sure that is rarely talked about, but like you say, its worth it!
Excellent, clear descriptions of the pros and cons. I am now subscribing to you.
Many thanks for your clarifying work !!
just jim
Thanks for the sub!
Interesting, I just put all new electronics on and went with the new Lowerance Elite and their live. User interface is the simplest vs. Humingbird and even Garmin.
I agree...Lowrance has the easiest units to use these days
Most people with spotlock puts there LS on a separate pole so you can point anywhere no matter where your TM is pointing
Yes its an option, but not really practical for a bass boat or tournament fishermen.
@@InDepthSonar I see Lawren. Fair call mate. Cheers
Have you had any Problems with ghosting on LiveScope?
On another subject, who has the best side scan/ down scan?
Yes seen the ghosting a few times.
I think Humminbird has the best SI and DI. Garmin a close second with their new GT56UHD transducer
Since I don't tournament fish for a living or for fun, I'll just get the Mega 360.
Its a great choice!
I have a 360 hb, it is excellent if you are only looking for structure view, but as fishing I really don't recommend it all. HB as long time they should upgrade their technology as what Garmin did with livescope perspective even so they didn't do it as 3D or mark fish with different color like Lawrence 3D. I am going for livesscope because we need to know as a fish movement direction with bait. good job man
I like the idea of fishing being a different color like Raymarine and Lowrance did with their 3D
Loved the NASCAR analogy, in fact , if that was from his 2012 victory at Michigan, I was there! LOL
Haha nice! That was Talladega 2009 when Jamie McMurray won. The fall race. Single file around the rim until the last 5 laps. I don't miss the COT at all :)
Totally agree! COT SUCKED!
I heard on a garmin page that they are coming out this year with a version of their own 360 imaging.
that would be big if they did
@@InDepthSonar its true
Which just means humminbird with come out with a live scope.
Just use a livescope pole mount and point it where you want it.
A pole is an option, but not to a tournament bass fishermen, which this video and all my videos are from that perspective.
This is so well done. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Most people get rid of the direction view issue you talk about by not mounting the LS on the trolling motor but instead on its own poll.
Great Comment! Number 1 Star
Great comparison... but would the Livescope have great image offshore in depth up to 50ft ?
Yes it will work great in those depths. Anything under 120' is fine from my experience, but the shallower the better but still more than 15' deep.
@@InDepthSonar Great.... Thanks
Thanks!
Humminbird or Garmin and you can't go wrong. Get the Mega SI+ or UHD for the best detail
@@InDepthSonar I went for the humminbird solix with the mega si+. Will arrive Friday. Looking forward to finding some lost treasure next week!
I think the 360° will make it easier to find fish?
Easier for sure... But slower.
@@InDepthSonar True.
But I didn't want to have to pan around and have a limited viewing area.
Yes it's more work too. Ideally 360 for looking for fish on structure and then LiveScope to pick them off in forward mode is the ideal setup, but that comes at quite a price lol
@InDepth Sonar Definitely worth having both. But where I live I am close to a high pressured lake. Finding fish is the hard part for me.
good job dude. U r the only reliable source on this topic.
Thank you!
I have Lowrance HDS Carbon units as my main (hoping to get the Active Target) and have a Helix 10 G4N with Mega 360
That'll be a nice setup.

Awesome, I agree
Looking forward to the March 2021 hummingbird launch of their new live product.

Jim, as I currently have bow mount Mega-DI 3GN and dash Mega-SI 3GN, was looking at upgrading to trolling motor to Ultrex with possibly Mega 360. didnt know about Humminbird new product in March. Where can I get info on that product?
Nowhere right now because there isn't much on it. Google Mega Live and you'll get the little that is known about it
It will be cool to see on the water video. Have you started boating season allready?
Not yet. A foot of ice on the lakes still
So what uour saying is I need both of these.
Yeah... Sorry lol
My problem is, when I have spot lock on, you don’t get a picture like you would like when you’re cruising along slow
That shouldn't change...in fact it should be better when you are stationary on the 360. The LiveScope will give you just as good an image, but when you are moving there will be more things changing on the screen (because its updating) and could appear to give you an easier to understand image
Great comparison and explanation. Thanks
513
Thank you!
Will the Mega 360 work on the Solix G1?
Yes, but only when Mega 360 is connected to a Solix G2 and then it would be shared to the G1 over Ethernet
Exactly why I use a pole for livescope
That solves the problem, but not practical for tournament bass fishing at this point yet
Hi!
I would like to ask which one is better now?
Nothing has changed between these two since the video was posted
Very helpful great video ty
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching
Great info. I have two scopes and a helix. Looks like I’ll be gettin 360
Why two LiveScope? Front and back?
Lawren Wetzel well, I tried that. Now I have both up front for a 40 degree cone, instead of 20. I primarily got it to have a back up.
I would put one in perspective and still might, but pretty convinced that mega 360 will me more useful
Nice! I like the idea for the 40° angle
Great comparison!
Thank you!
You can run 360 with G2N helix units also I have 2 10s
Does your perspective change now that there are moveable shafts that are not connected to the tolling motor for the LiveScope, allowing you to be more mobile on the direction it is pointing regardless of the direction of the tolling motor?
Yes and not. Personally for bass fishing I don't find those practical so we're stuck with the trolling motor issue. However, if you can handle letting go of your rod to adjust the pole, then obviously it removes the issue I mentioned
I love your videos. Very informative.
Thank you!
Hello, I’m curious out of the three which do you think would be best when you combine open water and ice fishing needs. These units are expensive and I’d like to get one I could use for multi species trips both on the open water and ice.
Also any tips on wiring or setting up transducers to go from the boat to the ice?
Livescope is really good for ice fishing. That's for sure.
Go Livescope for sure. It will be much more useful for ice fishing
As usual amazing video Lawren!
Thank you!
Great content! I would like to have Mega 360 at the bow and side view at the helm with great mapping. Is this possible with a price tag of $3,500. If so what units would you recommend?
You could be close to that budget if you did a pair of Helix 8 units and Mega 360.
@@InDepthSonar Thank you I very much appreciate the reply.
I’ve purchased the live scope and im not getting the same footage as you’ve show. Im not sure if im using right or what!

Best video yet!
Thank you!
Zhou are assuming all sonars are mounted to the trolling motor.
Yes. Where bass fishermen put them
both... and Lowrance for my mapping
That's the best setup for sure.
Very cool! It's so awesome to see fish moving with both these systems
Will the Lowrance TI handle C-map software? What do you recommend?
I believe there are some CMap cards that will work with the TI however everything I've seen the Navionics is better
@@InDepthSonar
Thanks, I follow your channel and have learned some things about my TI.
Yeah I agree with the benefits of the pole but find them too annoying to use and they do look ugly
I would like to know if you can send your Garmin back to the factory for repairs after six years?
I would doubt it but you never know. It doesn't hurt to give him a call. 1-800-800-1020
have livescope mounted on an independant free spinning pole. 2ez
Yes that's an option, but another thing to worry about controlling so not really practical for bass fishing
Have you heard if anyone has had issues running the 360 and Livescope simultaneously?
You'll be fine. There are many doing it without any issue.
If you only had the choice for one which one would you invest in ?I only have a Lawrence Ti now and want to upgrade but the investment of two is to much for my budget for my 14 Jon boat 🤷♂️🤷♂️??
I'd do an echomap unit and the Livescope. It's the most versatile between the two.
Oye... going to have to sell the tractor... if I still have a wife... ;o)
LOL yeah both are nice, but can be difficult on marriages haha
Do you believe Lowrance has better SI? Why would you choose it over humminbird?
I think Mega SI from Humminbird is best today. I prefer Lowrance for their GPS and ease of use over the other brands. Their 2D sonar is also one of the best today
I just got both and cant wait to get on the water!!!
Nice! Best of the best today
Can livescope be through hull mounted? I have a hobie kayak, and dont want the transducer hanging off the side.
You could rig something up, but then you'll have to turn the entire kayak to point the transducer at a object. The over the side option is much better
Great analysis
Thank you!
Lauren are you in WI? If so, where do you fish generally?
No I'm in Ontario. Fish the Toronto area
If you ran both were do you connect the garmin transducer if you already have the meg 360 connected to your Min kot
You'd connect it directly to the shaft of the motor below the water line
mount your live scope on a remote controlled wand
Too much of a hassle in my opinion to do that, but it is an option that solves the problem I talk about. I don't know of any high level bass tournament guys doing it due to its downfalls
Have you tested or know anyone with both running at the same time to see If one or both gets interference?
Yes I know several people who are running both without a problem.
Wow how about tune the contrast on the live scope...Damn..
Right!!!
meh, i still catch more fish then my peers who have 360 and/or livescope. No matter how good these technologies are, it still boils down to understanding fish patterns throughout the seasons and fishing techniques.
Ive caught fish where my experience tells me i know there's fish, but nothing was captured on sonar.
You are a great fishermen!
I totally agree. I see it all the time 80 k boat with 20k in electronics and still can’t catch a cold.
Great vs review!
Thank you!
What can you see if the water is stained or dirty? Does that matter?
It doesn't really matter. IF it is extremely muddy it may have a slight effect on the LiveScope, but Mega 360 would be fine.
We bought both units for a research project. Humminbird 360 is too much easy to configurate and run, besides have touch screen. We are trying to do Garmin works, but is not easy for begginners. Lawren, have Garmin an option to save data? We need to count fish in this project...
You can record the data on the Garmin unit with the Garmin Helm app on an Android phone or Tablet
