I should let everyone know that if you have HBOMax, check out the film "To Be or Not to Be". You will hear a lot of the lyrics to this song in the first two minutes, right before Hitler shows up.
This song was in my head, And for YEARS I searched for it! I looked everywhere, I heard it Downtown Salem Oregon on the street at 1am and was spaced out by her beautiful voice singing "que sera" and Months later I'd get home, searching for "Hey stella" is what I thought she was saying, I even posted a Subreddit about it, but the other night I was listining to Pandora's "hip hop is dead instrumental" and this song came on. My heart Froze.
I get the strong impression that many people have developed similar musical tastes because of what Pandora chose to play. Some artists probably owe exposure to Pandora on some level. But only in the sense that people like me were able to hear them for the first time, and not because they became more radically popular then they were before. A personal list for me would start with: Emancipator, Mushroom Jazz Albums, The White Stripes, The Strokes, Wax Tailor, Modest Mouse, Tiesto, The Pharcyde, Gramatik, Little People, RJD2, Telepopmusik, Justice, Radiohead, etc.
wow i see so many similar stuff to my taste of music like emancipator rjd2 little people gramatik etc they all have some own style and theres a lot more of them just keep diggin and love/enjoy the finest musical artworks witch were made or are in the made..
You reconstructed a desconstructed song in order to desconstruct it. Desampling. Honestly, it is an ingenious idea and I wonder why I only found this now.
I shared this song with my friend, I was using earbuds and she had one in her ear and I had one in mine and after a minute she pulled the plug and told me she didn't like it. It's her loss.
Presently, 84 people have the key in their hand, all they need to find is the lock. Excellent video, found this song through Pandora, and really appreciate the video, especially how it snaps into color to the beat at the beginning.
Fun Fact. "Can it be true? It must be true. No doubt." is from the 1942 movie "To Be Or Not To Be." He also use a sample from this movie at the beginning of his song "Ungodly Fruit."
It's really a trip when you realize that beyond the complex instrumental, the sampled lyrics manage to tell a complete story of personal growth and potential. Just magnificent.
For me, it's 2018. I discovered Wax Tailor when I was entering undergrad in late 2010. It's a very different world. I'm a very different person living in very different circumstances. But this remains a constant classic.
Holy shit! After a good 9 years of searching I've finally found this song! Picture this.. I'm in a restaurant in Troyes in France with a family I work for as a PA carer for a gentlement who is a C6 quadriplegic. We've finished eating and the gentlemen and his wife want a hour to themselves so tells their daughter's to go look in shops, and me to do as I please. So I got to the toilet in this restaurant which was downstairs... and down the corridor I hear this song playing.. I approach and its what I can only describe as a bar/ nightclub under a restaurant! This song was so chill I went and bought a drink and just sat, enjoy the following music and vibes then went back to the family and carried on my duties. It was a surrel moment in my life and so crazy I've found this song now!
First off this was amazing! Great job of tracking down all the old clips! I didn't go through all the comments so I don't know if anyone already mentioned, but the one you missed ('Now listen to me, all of you!") was William Shatner as James Kirk from an old 60's Star Trek episode. Had to be when he was on some alien planet trying to keep them from destroying each other.
Quote from Ben Hur actually. Quintus Arrius: "Now listen to me, all of you. You are all condemned men. We keep you alive to serve this ship. So row well, and live."
You, my friend, are talented--and dedicated. This must have been quite a project. I thought it was a studio-funded video production and even then I was surprised they could afford to invest so much in such a small group. What a nice gift for Wax Taylor! Truly excellent!
I have the key in my hand, all I have to find is the lock. I legit heard this song while on the bus in Honolulu on Spotify in November of 2013. I was going through an incredibly difficult period in my life and I heard this song and it's been am absolute favorite of mine. I've heard it consistently on my Spotify since without fail.
I'm in love with the part from 1:22 to 1:52 where video twists in sync with audio. What an absolute brilliance! All the back-and-forth transitions, a joy to behold!
I've always loved this video man, good job. I will say I just watched Hitchcock's Saboteur (1942) and recognized some clips from that film (namely the "I don't understand." "ladies and gentlemen." "I have something to tell you" bit) that weren't mentioned in this video. Not like its detrimental to the video...it's still awesome! It was just extra info for anyone curious!
If this is an experimental video, then by all means, keep on experimenting!:-) You did an outstanding job here. I'm so going to share this vid on facebook...
I actually found this song a couple years ago on ROBLOX RoCitizens. They have radio for cars in the game. And I always heard this song come on. I typed up "Hey Sarah" on UA-cam back then trying to find it. Eventually I found the song and they were actually saying Que Sera.
In 6th grade my English teacher played this and I thought they were saying “Hey, there are!” but when I eventually asked her what the song was I found out it was “Que Sera” lol
I was watching Close Encounters last night and was struck when I heard the unexpected lines that I knew so well - this song has a playcount of 259 in my iTunes... Awesome video, thanks for making it!
I remember this being played when I was like 5 or something crazy! I've been looking for this for like a year when I started having musical flashbacks! Omgomgomgomgomg! Yesssss!
I love discovering new (to me) artists. So surprised I never heard of Wax Tailor, especially with my music collection/interests. Co-worker in the kitchen was playing one of their tracks and I was like... "Holy Sh*t, who is this?!?!" Now if I can find the track. but this is nice... great job on the video too!
Thank you, this is absolutely perfect! I've been listening to the song for about a year, and wondering where (besides The Man Who Knew Too Much) the sound bites were from, and you've done a magnificent job of finding and syncing them up. Couldn't be better!
Nice job finding all of those clips Wax sampled from. I watched Ben Hur for the first time recently and realized where he got some of the samples. Not a bad flick, either! ;) Again, top marks.
I should let everyone know that if you have HBOMax, check out the film "To Be or Not to Be". You will hear a lot of the lyrics to this song in the first two minutes, right before Hitler shows up.
five years later, this spectacular comment
Nice I like all songs that insert voice parts from old movies or something
That took a dark turn lol
@@MeowmeowAlexandra yeah it did 😂
Also also, Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much

+JoinCrossFire That moment when you find a long lost song is beautiful. Congrats!
***** THANKS :D
+JoinCrossFire ever heard of shazam?
Klaus Krabbe not every teen gets to have a phone.
I'm seriously impressed you did the work to find the original clips and aligned them with the music holy damn dude
Excellent
I’m late here, but this is the first time seeing the movie clips with the audio. Effing awesome!
Off topic but great pic RIP DOOM!
Why cant this song be, like, five hours longer?
SterlingBerg ikr
Because, it would get annoying and what made this special becomes meaningless...
It's not annoying when I listen to it over and over again for five hours straight
>right click >loop
SterlingBerg right?

You should check Ratatat if you haven't already, they make amazing instrumental songs!
rjd2 made the beat for one of my favorite cage rap song.
Please comment a playlist of your top favorite jams. I'm really interested. 🙏

You should't be Shazaming in a public bathroom you creep.
I got it from Chipotle a few years ago almost missed it would of been very tragic

Cool to know my great grand father is in this music video🤙🏻 one of the guys rowing the boat. And damn good remix
I shared this song with my friend, I was using earbuds and she had one in her ear and I had one in mine and after a minute she pulled the plug and told me she didn't like it. It's her loss.
haha. actually i know this problem!
Annabeth 1 sadness
Maybe she couldn't hear the funky bassline.
I would have thrown my own turds at her
I just realized she's saying "Que sera, sera."
So "Whatever will be, will be" makes sense to me now.
I'm slow
the funny thing is that it's not really even a real phrase
Epoch The Kid it's OK , I used to think she was saying "hey, Sara"
You gotta look up Doris Day singing the full song. She is fucking magical.
williamofdallas its spanish for "what (will) be"
And ugly

I agree with you fully, i too found it on pandora!
Same here:)
I did too.!
Aww I remember when we used to have funny things to say about the dislikes, what a throwback! 😂
Fun Fact. "Can it be true? It must be true. No doubt." is from the 1942 movie "To Be Or Not To Be." He also use a sample from this movie at the beginning of his song "Ungodly Fruit."
I love the song Ungodly Fruit as well!!
Damn, all that soul though. Soul in the vocal clips, soul in the drums, soul in the bass line, soul in that piano. It resonates deeply and easily.
It's really a trip when you realize that beyond the complex instrumental, the sampled lyrics manage to tell a complete story of personal growth and potential. Just magnificent.
I am addicted to this song right now.

This is wax tailor / they did an amazing job
Top job on matching this song to the video clips. This song reminds me of The Avalanches, with their sampling.
Great song for when your Vibing high af
This song could have been playing for hours and I wouldn't even notice because I would space out and never come back.

I don't know why, but I think they should use this song somewhere in a Fallout game.
I completely agree with you. I got so many goosebumps while imagining this song in Fallout
So I'm not the only one who thought this too😎
fuk yeah
Not old enough... Voices are right, but it's also too, well, modern... Needs to be in a trailer at least though.

good job, mate. nice edits. one of the better "fan videos" i've seen.

thanks pandora. these were the best years.
I like the rhythmical desaturation during the "Que Sera" shots (i.e. 0:45), nice job visualizing the song!
This track strikes something deep with me …
If You see this comment you followed my hint! very cool. well done

Thank you Wax Tailor for a wonderful show. Poland loves you!
I've been watching a lot of old movies recently, and when I had heard the voices from the samples I'd be like yooooooooooooo
Same to me. I was watching a lot a Hitchcock's movies, when I heard the phrase "A record..." I said "what?"
This video is very well done. I love wax tailors choices of films to sample, and this highlights it beautifully. well done
