I have EG-1 Blackout model, love it! Travel with it all the time, no problem with airlines, just questions whether I'm carrying a violin, ukulele or a rifle ))

Guns and guitars best of both worlds

I've had numerous guitars to travel with and this is the best I've ever owned. I really like them.

I haven't owned many travel guitars (I have only one, a Yamaha SLG), though I am always watching out for them. This design definetely bridges the gap between the travel, almost bodyless guitar, and a conventional shred beast. Great for taking on vacation and avoid getting out of practice. I'd buy one!

I bought one of these a year ago. It travels so easily (put it under the airline seat, or stand it up against your leg, no need to put in overhead). Around the house, I have ended up playing this one way more than my other guitars. Very handy and easy to put out of the way. And it plays great, the neck is the perfect profile.

Does yours have the same problem as mine, which is that it starts to clip/distort slightly when playing on the clean channel (I recorded an example of it here ua-cam.com/video/2SYZxcoslxU/v-deo.html)

@@rohbaert4062 I honestly don't know, I never play it plugged in. I play it a lot, like nearly everyday, but usually in the living room with my wife while watching TV. I have played through the built-in headphone amp and it sounded sh*tty, so that is likely just the amp, not the guitar or pickups

@@seanmckeown9324 Thanks for the reply. That's what I assumed. I think the pickups just have too much output for the internal amp and that's why it distorts no matter what I do.

Is there any other guitar that comes with an inbuilt amp and tone switch etc?

I work for an airline and would be very surprised if you could take that as carry on

I have the Traveler Pro Mod-X -- narrower body (because you can disassemble the side pieces) but probably the same scale length. The gig bag fits in an overhead with lots of room to spare. And because the guitars aren't very deep - they can go on top of other luggage.

The airline I work for has a maximum length of 22 inches and this is 24.75 inches. Some are more generous than others but expect to have to check it in on some trips

I have two traveler guitars (one acoustic & a strat style electric) and yes, I have placed them in aircraft overhead bins with no problem pre-balognavirus times. My acoustic got a great workout every day while in Antarctica and the electric is great for street & outdoor situations with a mini Marshall stack hung off my belt. I really like them.

Were you doing the video's audio with the guitar plugged into a 'real' amp, or exclusively from the on-board amp? How does the EC1 pickup compare to other 'standard' pickups?

    • @Wallimann

I was plugged into the Axe FX III. There is a section in the video where I use the onboard one. Pickups sounded and performed as well as real ones ( it is a real pup!)

Strap holders, haha, that is what they do, but I believe they're "strap buttons", although maybe they're called different things in different places.

So how do you tune the strings? is that the reason for the little knobs on the middle of the guitar near the strings? This is my first time looking for things like these, so I am a bit confused.

Perhaps new strings. I always do cuz the strings on most guitars are not strung to my liking. Have the black model of this and immediately put some .009 flatwound GHS strings on it... made a world of difference. never have to tune it.

I have the EC-1 LTD which I thought was ok. I swapped out the pickup with a EMG-81 and it sounds good. As for design the top 3 to 4 frets are hard to reach as the cut away is not enough but it is what it is. The big problem I have is with customer support and their website. This plastic cover that the Input-aux-headphones plug into is very thin and weak. if any of the plugs are in and take a light knock the plastic snaps. Obviously a common problem as they sell replacement parts on their website but if you want to be ignored by a company then these guys are trying to win that award. 4 emails and only a generic "we'll call you" response. Anyone wanna by a broke guitar?
