I think heroes are being overrated in all aspect of media. Not much given thought as to why there are villains. Not in general but most villains were wronged by society. Villains acted like they are because they wanted to protect someone or something of great value to them, they fought for what they believed in because it was their right, they were misunderstood by the people or government that they once serve and protect, their family, friends and lovers were killed by the people they protect, they were shunned for their ideals. Villains are also people that Heroes need to understand they are not just there to be killed or eradicate cause they are like plague or virus in the world.
Kiss My Ass Production I completely agree. Although, there are cases where that isn't the case. In my mind i feel that to truly become a hero, you might have to become the villain.

Heroes and villains are both wronged by society. What do you think makes people strong? It isn't compassion, or kindness or even a desire to protect others. It's pain, suffering and torment. At some point every hero and villain must suffer immeasurably, else neither would be strong enough to take up the role. The real question is, why does suffering of that magnitude break some men and empower others?
The answer is of course free will. It's your choice how to use the power and determination loss and suffering can give you. You can either use it to accomplish what you believe are great things, or use it to destroy what you consider worthless things. Either choice can make you a 'hero' or a 'villain', because hero or villain is merely a matter of perspective.
As strange as it seems, there is nothing but power and how we use it. Any definitions are meaningless because they are purely subjective. One mans hero is another mans villain, a message I'm certain the Force Awakens will support.
