Black chutney powder is nigella seeds ( prominently used in the sabjis to enhance the flavor it gives earthy taste). And the authentic food usually has more hotness because green chilli is used. It's subtle where you are eating because less spice is eaten in South part of karnataka).

@Tanmay the restaurant has toned down the spiceness of the food to the extent that local Bengalurian or south Karnataka ppl or people from anywhere cant handle that amount of spice n enjoy the flavours(thats other thing they feel little spicy yet) But the actual thing is North (uttara) Karnataka food (Vegetarian) --- Spiciest!.. Tastiest!.. yet Healthiest!!.. very rare combination in the entire world 😉😊

Huchellu chutney is not curry leaf powder. It is nigella seed chutney powder.

@@rojaachar very true...I have seen all his Bengaluru food videos in this series, the Bengaluru guides don't seem to have good exposure of the food of Karnataka and saying in every video that Karnataka food is sweet giving wrong conception to the host. It would have been very great if he had Kripal Ammanna for the whole series, he could have given Veggie Paaji a greater idea on the flavour profile.

Good afternoon dear Tanmay - Look forward to yet another awesome vlog from the VPBFS .
So today’s vlog is of Basaveshwar Khanavali 👍 Good place & good quality meals .
It’s always a pleasure to dine on a plantain leaf . The flavour profile is amplified 💯💯💯
Looks like you have gone for their Diamond 💎 Thali comprising of 24 items including the condiments .
Post serving of the dishes , I am truly drooling over the spread . I love Jolada Roti with a dollop of butter + some condiments & Sabzi . Awesome 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Huge shout to Rahul for taking you around Bengaluru and introducing you to the various delicacies that Karnataka/ in this case Bengaluru has to offer .
I just wished that he could have articulated and further educated you on the beautiful variants of KC .He is young and am sure will grow with experience.
Glad you enjoyed the grand thali to your heart’s content . Like I mentioned to you ; last week due to my GERD issue I was on Curd rice ( tempered ) along with crisp Bhindi fry . Sheer bliss 😇
Thoroughly enjoyed this vlog and yet again brought some fond memories back 👌👌👌
Thanks dear for your efforts and hard work to make it a successful Bengaluru trip . Hope to watch a few more vlogs from Namma Bengaluru.

Glad you tasted north karnataka food... That jowar roti is to North Karnataka like Bajra rotla/rotlo is to Gujarat...1st ghee dal rice then payasam then rice sambar then jowar roti then holige then rice rasam and ending is always with curd rice this is traditional way but in hotels starts with jowar roti holige and then moves to rice 😁

Its a common misconception that Karnataka food is sweet or too subtle in flavours. Only vegetarians(usually from south of Karnataka and coastal) prefer sweetish food. Usually North Karnataka vegetarian food is very spicy (even non-vegetarians like me find hard to tolerate) so they tone it down in restaurants. Most of the Karnataka food is usually opposite to the conception/what you might have tried, its spicy and flavourful. I do get that you are vegetarian and might have not tried non veg food of Karnataka which is usually spicy in nature.

bengaluru food culture dsnt represent the entire karnataka food culture.. uske liye aapko.. mangalore, udupi, Hubli, coorg, dawangere, etc bhi explore karna padega... or ek baat.. rice ka culture jyada sirf bengaluru me hi hai.. agr karnataka ke other region me jaoge to wahaan rotti prefer ki jaati hai..

Very crude way, all the stuffing will come out. Eat holige like you eat roti, except here you scoop some ghee. And that red thing called "ranjaka" is not garlic but mainly made from Red chilli.
