I am on the 780g for 2 years. Really love it. Con’s is indeed the sensor. Glad that it will be changed soon with the Simplera. Would love to have penfilled cartridges in the pump. Would make it much easier. And less garbage.
I have been a Medtronic pumper for 23 years and have been on the 780G for about 13 months. With this system my A1C has gone from about 7.0 to 6.0. In the last month my time in range has been 96 percent. The pump is amazing with very few lows. My major issue has been the sensors. The Guardian 4 sensors lately have had longevity issues. Medtronic has been good about replacing sensors that do not last 7 days but I have had numerous ones that have lasted from 1 day to 5 days. I have communicated with Medtronic about this and I believe that I have received some defective sensors. We are working to resolve this issue. Overall it has been a very positive experience. I have been Type 1 for 43 years and on Medicare for 5 years.
Thanks for this! I had a Medtronic pump for 31 years and LOVED using it. Lately I changed to a different one, because I wanted a pump + CGM system. I’ve had misgivings about various aspects of the change and hoped Medtronic would be developing a pump +. The ability to change the insulin action time sounds great! Five hours doesn’t seem right to me. I have a little buyer’s remorse. My A1c is good at 6.6, but my time in range is generally under 50%. I’m a Medicare beneficiary, so a change back to Medtronic would take a hefty investment. I wonder if I have another possibility for a smoother level of BG through the day. I loved Dr. E’s level graph!
@@closefamilyteam Yes, same thing as I was saying. It does not make sense, and a lot of times people don't realize their settings are not at 70-180 mg/dL.
I have cerebral palsy and have been using the 780g since September 16th. I use a power wheelchair for mobility. I am fine even when I fall asleep during the day in my wheelchair. When I get into bed in the early morning eventually I have been crashing and the pump has been alarming as the cgm reads less then 64. So what I’ve had to do when I get into bed or near that time I set a temp target of 150 for the hours I think I will be in bed and if I get up early I put the target back to 110. I’ve had to have a friend help me change the cgm due to the tape insanity.
Cut carbs, no lows no highs 100% in range all of the time. Hardly use any insulin and takes away all the stress of being a diabetic. With this pump and a simplera cgm it’s game changing 😊
I don't like that the Guardian 4 sensors only work with the pump. If I wanted to take a pump break, say for the weekend, I would need an entirely different CGM (like Libre or Dexcom) to wear for the weekend and would be essentially wasting a 10-14 day sensor for the 2-3 days while not wearing the Medtronic pump/sensor combo. I wish Medtronic would just work with other brand CGMs (Libre or Dexcom), even the Simplera one that is supposed to come out soon from them I've seen reviews that aren't the best, probably moreso due to the software/user friendliness though.
I’ve had both the Medtronic and Omnipod insulin pumps. I love the freedom of Omnipod and the new app on the iPhone. The other thing is I found the Medtronic CGM to not be as accurate as the Dexcom g6. The Medtronic cgm might show the value, but I found it was 20 - 30 points off the actual blood sugar reading. I think the Medtronic pump would be perfect match if it was matched up with the Dexcom G6. Of course I’m hoping for the biological cure, understanding I was cured of T1 diabetes in 2012 at UCSF through an islet cell infusion that lasted 3 years. The pumps are great technology, but honestly who wants to mess with technology as you go into your 70’s and 80’s. Canada and Europe are more advanced in curing the disease biologically and it seems in America it’s more towards an artificial pancreas Approach. Slow boat to China 🥴🥴
Agree the Medtronic sensor is awkward , cumbersome and time consuming compared with the Dexcom g7 also it doesn’t give you ample warning of sensor “time up” and there’s no 12 hour “grace period” as with the G7. Overall the 780g is good but needs to be tweaked a bit more
We both use the 7-day infusion set which is very convenient and approved for 7 days without issues. Saying that, everyone has different skin sensitivities to different adhesive materials, so you’d have to try it. But the 7-day makes it really convenient.

EXCELLENT VIDEO!!
I agree! 🎉 Nice to see Medtronic back to innovation and creating more choices and pushing others to answer with even better tech!
Agree Jason!
Thank you so much!
@@jasonbengel Yes, it's so nice to have more options.

Thanks for sharing - I had the same good experience when I tried it, and Jeremy's still on it.
780g now works with Libre 3
you bolos before meal? what happen after that?

Appreciate your comment! Time in range under 50% is really low for an A1c of 6.6%. Make sure your time in range is set between 70 and 180mg/dL.
@@TCOYDtv I wonder if your "range" is set for 70 - 140 mg/dL? 6.6 is fantastic if you don't have hypo.

How does the 780G compare to the Tandem T slim x2 with control IQ?
Sounds interesting
It's really a great system...thanks for watching!

Medtronic just announced a collaboration with Abbott who makes the FreeStyle Libre, so it's going to happen!

I was using the newest 780G sensor, which is much more accurate than the older ones. It potentially could be a good choice for you.

I had the mini med 409 and the paradigm pump
wow that must've been SO many years ago! I had the 507C : >
Impressive! :)
Hi. Just curious what infusion set do you use ? I use the Silhouette and have used it for years.
PS. You mentioned the 7 day infusion set. Any skin issues leaving it in 7 days?

Sensor lasting 7 days?! You must be joking!
