- This is how I crashed my Fly Wing 450L V2.5 RC Helicopter. Thankfully because of the good quality material used in the construction of the Helicopter there was no other damage other than the canopy and of course my pride.
I lost mine on the 4th flight. Extensive damages. Great video. They should have the cut off switch on the outer right side.
Thank-you for your kind words and responding my video. I am sorry for your loss and I hope it hasn't put you off flying RC helis. I now hold my finger next to the switch in su h a way I can't accidently switch it off accidently but can easily switch it off if required. All the best Pete

Luckily the 450L is a tough bird and only required a replacement canopy. Good luck with yours I am sure you will love it its a great RC Heli. I have even flow a few times in 3D mode which is basically to fly as a full on RC Heli.
You are definitely correct in my opinion that those two switches should be in opposite placement on the controller! It's great you took the time to make the video and give a heads up to other owners of the FlyWing 450L V2.5. I cannot believe someone at the company didn't realize the very real and potentially catastrophic outcome of this switch placement!
Believe it or not I have caught it a second time, luckily I wasn't too high and the heli fell flat on the skids. The only damage was one leg of the skid thankfully. Now my flying has progressed I don't use the orbital and eight manoeuvre switch any more but a worthy note for the people starting out with this heli.
I fit red shrink wrap around critical switches, it does help.

On a normal transmitter that switch is identified as throttle cut and applies to ICEs. On electrics another switch is identified as throttle hold. These switches are located on the top right side of the transmitter.

As a new person into the hobby of RC helis, the FW 450L was a great introductory route into learning how to fly. A package that comes, literally ready to fly out of the box. You are correct in what you say re the switch of a standard TX but this is the supplied Tx which is formatted by the manufacturer for general use.
The aim of my video is to show the pilots buying or using the factory set up equipment, the inherent danger/problem with the switch allocation/position. Once I decided to continue with helis I now use a standard Tx with the switch configuration as you describe. The placement of these are ideal for quick easy access as you point out but still not totally isolated as to accidently knock them.

If you open up the controller you can turn that switch 90° so it's side to side not up down
That way you shouldn't nudge it by mistake.

Oh man that sucks....I did that same thing on my brand new v3 at only about 3 feet of the ground... it bent the skids broke a clip on the battery door...effed up the esc and the flight control that's a really bad position for that switch
Hi Chris I guess the cut off switch has to be in an accessible place but I feel this is too open, sorry for your issues too, I hope you have sorted out the repairs and you are back in the air.
My typhoon h drone has a 2 second delay from time switch is thrown and actual cutoff. self preservation vs saftey feature
Hi Steve not the case with the 450L once the switch is flicked its totally dead. The only way to re arm is unplug and re plug and follow the start up sequence but safety first I guess thankfully its a tough bird and only the damage to the canopy.
