Thank you. Interesting about the "language has been granted too much power" because I was wondering how new materialists cope with the insights of the literary turn. I'll have to read that section.
"Matter is not passive but has agency." I don't understand what's so "new" or "materialistic" about "new materialism." Why not just call it Pantheism or Animism? Philosophers and theologians have debated these questions for ages, with far more sophistication and metaphysical nuance. Why should settle with this hodge podge of feminism, new-agism and environmental ideology?
I see, your partial view derives from an old and crusty theologian department. Name me some Philosophers and theologians who debated these questions for ages. There concepts and assumptions are also imbedded in a hodge podge of other ideologies.
You are watching an introduction. Those debates are much more complex. There are issues like incomplete ontology that aren't discussed in those ancient debates.
Nice review but the commentary needs to assume a more cross-cultural approach as it reaches a peak of ridiculousness when 'white' ideologues are criticized for creating and fostering gender inequalities and hegemonies.
