This 100% saved me like $250 just being able to do it myself. I’ve done a lot of other vehicle maintenance and repairs but this one was the first time for me doing a wheel hub on my wife’s suburban.
Ima do this and then replace my cv axle as well . Might as well take then wheel bearing off first then do the CV axle. I don’t want to remove the strut
Proper way to stop spindle rotating to accomplish 167 ft/#, is to insert a screw driver through gap in calliper into a gap in between webs of vented disc. This way there will be No flex whatsoever, to get proper torque.
Idk why take the entire control arm and tie rod end off of the knuckle. Sure you can torque it down but you can fit many torque wrenches and breaker bars back there anyways. Also instead of using a pry bar to tighten the axle nut find a buddy to press the brakes hard to hold the entire thing in place.
I'm not sure why they did so much extra in this video. There's no real reason to take the knuckle loose if you're not replacing the knuckle and/or ball joints. Take axle nut off, loosen hub bolts but don't remove, check that cv axle is free, and use a slide hammer with a hub attachment to break the hub assembly loose.

Why separate upper ball joint? Just to have more room??

How is it that you have plenty of room to use an impact??? Mine, 2008 2500, is room for only a breaker bar n ratchet
