Sorry there was pressure on you all to get this out. I had complete confidence you'd get to BEcause when you could, and I really enjoyed this reaction. So many layers :) I hope getting a chance to read the lyrics helped round out the experience for you, I know it did for me. So creepy, and so good.

Sean's timing is impeccable, every time he brings up parts of the song that are uncharacteristically light, it immediately goes to the heavier guitar-filled portions hahaha
The duality of musical styles in this is really interesting and I hadn't thought about it before, but it fits with the "theme" of the song, which talks about when love becomes obsessive. The video and choreography is inspired by the horror movie "Us", which involves doppelgangers replacing the original humans that they're based off of. The way I read it, the doppelgangers only really know love in this darker, more obsessive form, which is why you hear Dreamcatcher singing about it. But I hadn't thought of how this was supported from a musical standpoint - it's very "Fly High" in terms of how sinister it is underneath that "light" surface. I also liked how they changed things up a little, like bringing back Dami in the same verse when normally she raps and is finished for the rest of that verse. Enjoyed the reaction as always!
Dreamcatcher doesn’t have a bad song honestly

It’s why they’re my fav group of all time boy or girl. And the members have great chemistry and are still down to earth and there’s funny moments and emotional moments and they work so hard I’m fanboying and I can’t help it and honestly I’m not ashamed of it.

If you want surface level/impression type reactions to your favorite songs, that's fine. There are plenty of reactors out there that do that; I watch alot of them myself.
However, channels such as this one, Form of Therapy, etc. take an approach of adding certain expertise and analysis to their reactions. That takes time and energy to do properly in addition to all the other reactions and life stuffs they have going on.
So please don't send hate and ingratitude to those who are trying their best to provide quality videos for the songs we all love because it isn't as timely as you would like it to be. Not everything is meant for instant gratification or quick consumption. If you want that, again there are many reactors out there to hopefully temper your impatience while you wait. Please be better viewers, be better fans and be better people.

This song has a lot of layers musically. For example... In verse 2 with Dami's rap, there's a descending carnival-like sound when she says 'Easy come, easy go' right before the horror violin shrieks.
i never really thought about that: when we have the more elegant parts of the song we also see them in white outfits in a nice normal looking hotel, but when the more rock elements come in you see them in more dark outfits in darker creeper places. it also fits the concept of the doppelgangers, the good and the evil

Umu is one of the reasons I got into Dreamcatcher, so seeing her all excited about their songs always makes me really happy :)
For me, it sounds like this song has rock and classical genre + electronic sound.
You can hear the classical from the pizzicato strings, the Fur Elise motive, and the passing note and Turn ornament from Yoohyeon in the bridge
In fact, I would argue that the entire bridge sounds like opera style or something alongside the classical type singing
"BEcause" is not my favorite DC song, but I think it might be the most interesting piece of music they have produced. I think dynamic contrast is a big part of what makes Dreamcatcher, Dreamcatcher, and the difference between the highs and lows in this song are truly immense. Along side that contrast there is a dual nature to this song, which when one looks at the lyrics, is clearly intentional. It's got these playful melodies and instrumentation coupled with light vocals, which give way into heavier rock sections with their slightly distorted vocals, highlighting the duality of someone whose love has turned to obsession. I think its an absolute masterpiece, though I am extremely biased at this point, but Dreamcatcher just seem to keep getting better. P.S. I've been waiting for this reaction. The comeback just didn't feel complete without it. Love the channel! Keep being awesome!
i think silent night will always be their most interesting and unique song but i think this is the most interest of their title tracks

When I first heard "BEcause," I thought this was a bit new, given that their previous title tracks were more rock-genre based and I wouldn't say it is one of the top 5 favourite DC title tracks on my list. However, the rock sections, plus the sections where they have that kind of creepy lullaby/music box piano, really made this track the most interesting thus far and definitely suitable for something that of a horror movie, in a way. The lyrics and the MV itself were both additional factors why I find "BEcause" the most interesting title track I ever heard.
P.S: Props to the producers, staff, and Dreamcatcher for their hard work! (Especially during this season.)

Well well well... BEcause is a summer song which is meant to be fun, cheery and bubbly so how could it meant to be creepy.... unless the group is Dreamcatcher.... there is a Korean tradition where you tell ghost stories or visit haunted places so that you can feel the "chills" to fight the summer heat.
Officially the song unravels a story of an obsession and longing for love. One theory is that the capitalise BE in the title is used in context as the Hanja character 悲’ (‘BE’) as they sound alike and the word meaning sadness, and the title BEcause could be loosely translate as the cause of sadness, and paired with the line BEcause I like you or BEcause I love you, the sadness is caused by liking or loving someone. Also, the whole creepy toxic vibe is link to the choreography where there is a scene of someone choking another, and the lyrics about "forever mine, even your breath" and then "your face blue...like an ocean view" kind of reflect someone being strangled until the fact turns blue etc.
Also, the MV plot theme has another layer that borrowed quite a bit of plot elements from the horror movie "Us" by Jordan Peele where doppelgangers who were forced to live underground depraved of the "finer" things and are trying to are trying to take over their "privileged" above ground counterparts...won't go into much details as it would be better if you watch the movie yourself if you haven't). There are a lot of details in the MV that point to this such as the movie "Us" which has scenes depicting a hall of mirror, someone being captured and replaced, the carnival; similarly the choreography also uses the movie themes such as the doppelgangers holding hand in a chain, the slight side to side head tilts, ending pose of the center member which two hand on her face, mirrored choreography etc.. There are also a few easter eggs for the doppelgangers concept such as the MV is 3:13 minute long (coincidence? I think not) , and that the opening scene and ending scene has the members in completely different outfits (with the ending outfit more whimsical), as well as the completely drain symmetrical hourglass at the end indicating that at some point, the doppelgangers replaced their original counterpart.
More impressively for me is that, musicality, it plays into the theme of opposite doppelgangers where there is a two part chorus (whimsical and cute, and a more rock follow up) and two part bridge (soft vocals followed up by a deep spoken rap) trying to show this mirror duality.

Creepy dollhouse sums up the song while the mv is inspired by the movie "Us".
I prefer their heavier rock and metal songs, but BEcause has quickly become one of my favorites. There are just so many really satisfying little details to it that it stays very enjoyable and interesting even after countless listens. Also glad to see you take a bit of time to talk about the section from Dani's rap into Jiu with the maybe-or-maybe-not-a-snare sound. Sometimes I feel like rap sections of Dreamcatcher (and to an extent all kpop) songs get wedged into a song and don't quite fit right, but going from the breakbeat, taking away most of the percussion, then bringing back that snare really made the transition from the rap section hit different.

I swear every-time I watch your reactions, I somehow manage to hear the instrumental more than the vocals. And that’s before you even start talking about the sounds you hear.
I appreciate your initial exploration of the layers in the vocals and instrumentation - so much to learn from. This song and music video are so dense with ideas. I've already watched and listened many times and still only get a fraction of it. And you haven't even examined the lyrics yet and how they fit with everything else. There's so much to be said about the dancing, lighting, acting, wardrobe, sets, cultural references...
It reminds me of those great works of art that are not appreciated until fifty years later and then are acclaimed.

when i tell you i’ve been waiting for this video since the song dropped!!! honestly one of my favorite dreamcatcher songs just because of the horror influences, as well as the unique bridge section. one of my favorite kpop bridges tbh!

But yeah, BEcause has quickly become one of my favorite Dreamcatcher songs. Ever since Odd Eye, they'd been adding more to their metal ecstatic, which I've enjoyed. I sort of feel that both Dreamcatcher and Everglow have stepped it up the last year or so.
When DREAMCATCHER released this album, it also indicated who the instrument was.
The guitar was played by Ollounder and the drum by LEEZ.
I'd be curious about your thoughts of this being their "summer song" - its very certainly lighter than their usual but not at all what groups usually do for summer hits. (I would love to see what a metal/tropical house fusion would sound like though 😁)

I absolutely love BEcause so much, it's super my taste since I've always loved "sweet but sinister, cute but creepy" stuff sooooo much, and I LOVE all the horror movie type tropes in the song so much, like the classic danger shrieks and the creepy musicbox feel, they really nailed the flavour and I love it

It is in fact a snare. Around the dubstep and electro-clash era, EDM producers were layering snares with white noise. A lot of EDM snares still have layers of noise embedded in the sample.
