I actually love Jude Law in this. He's the uncle who's babysitting kids, and he has to bite his tongue constantly. Trying to reason with partners who are not only inexperienced but dangerously sheltered.
I agree. The goonies had the older brother there for a reason. Kids can’t do everything and they need someone to learn from. Regardless who Jude’s character ends up being.
My 11 year old has seen some starwars but this is really her first. She’s being introduced to all the things the kids are being introduced . Perfect jumping on point. Even the “Jedi” is captivating because it’s all new to her
I'm loving Skeleton Crew. The cast, the world building, and the story of these kids swept into a Star Wars universe. That said, I do not want this connected to any First Order or Palpatine lore. I hope it remains free of the Sequel Stain, and just continues to be a fun High Adventure tale that has its own colorful, inspiring life
I did connect that they share the word crimson and it's probably not a coincidence, but ultimately I think this is just a dude who made many alliances with many fractions and had many aliases. In fact I think it would be funny if in every episode we learned a new alias.
When Crimson Jack told the kids to get some sleep, and was walking around then told the young girl to get some rest, that was done to show that he cares for the kid's well-being. He could have harmed them if he wanted to, but showing him watching the kids sleeping was a way to demonstrate that he isn't a threat to them.
He's not a threat to the children, but that doesn't mean he isn't still using them. He openly admitted they just share the same common interest. Get back to At Attin.
Growing up my friends and I called Star Wars lovingly "How many times can you mess up and miraculously not die?" The original trilogy is very much characters bumbling their way through. This show, even more so ep 3 now, brings that feeling back for me.
The Jude Law character is very nuanced and comes across on screen quite well-love how he is a pivotal role for the kids to play off challenging them and their values-this allow the characters growth including Law. The dynamics could be Uncle Buck in Star Wars.
Johnny Watts, the show runner, said last month in an interview with Dais Johnston in Inverse on 18 November 2024 that he was talking about the Clone Wars era republic, not the KOTOR era republic thousands of years ago.
I think the idea of the planet funding the Sith Empire. Darth Plagueis was a Muun and a member of the Banking Clan. It would make since for him to discover the planet and set it up to secretly finance the Sith.
This show is fun, out of no where I am fanboy'ing this show to friends. I am struck that the two best Disney era SW shows (IMO) I have initially had no expectations going in. This show, and the other being Andor.
Loved the episode. Loved all 3. Hyped for the Daniels episode. And Bryces. Point is. Im sold on it. I want the episodes now. I mean, not really. I enjoy the anticipation. I just want as much of this as I can get.
I don't care. I will die on this hill. The Ewoks movies from the 80's were good! The first one "The Ewok Movie/Caravan of Courage" is the better of the two, but Battle for Endor is fun because it was the first introduction to witches in the Star Wars universe and it also featured a heroic Wilfred Brimley as a hermit who just randomly lived on Endor. I was 6 - 8 years old when they originally aired, but my mom recorded them both from tv on a VHS tape and I watched them all the time.
But the first story I've really enjoyed since the Rebels cartoon , I feel invested again. As for age I'm 56 🤣, but I do like Bad Batch but there's no hook. This 👍.
Along that line, it could be argued that: The boy is Jim Hawkins. The owl is Dr. Livesey. The elephant is Squire Trelawny. The captain is Captain Smollett. The robot is Ben Gunn. Just looking at the wikipedia page, I also noticed the following minor character: Mr. Dance: Chief revenue officer (titled *Supervisor*) who ascends with his men upon the Admiral Benbow, driving out the pirates, and saving Jim Hawkins and his mother. He then takes Hawkins to see the squire and the doctor. They certainly aren't following the plot of the novel to the letter, so I'm not sure what, if anything, it means, but it's something to keep in mind.
I think the biggest clue to the mystery At-Attin is SM33. Peter Pan takes a lot from the Treasure Island books. At-Attin is the treasure island AND Never-Never-Land, it doesn't grow up, the great work is from the Old Republic, the planet missed out on all of the prequel and original histories and I don't think that it's going to touch on Palpatine's return. The Mando verse/Fillioni's franchises i.e. Ashoka(Rebels) is handling the return of Palpatine and Skeleton Crew is a single story that will uncover its own mystery. The show is directed at children (13 and under) and we older fans are along for the ride. The show won't touch on a larger plot lines from the last 15 years like Palps return because it would go over the primary audiences (children) heads because there's too much history to digest that they weren't around for unlike us older fans. It will have a self contained story whenever the show finishes.
SM33 does share some similarities to Sith Introductions in past Star Wars stories, It’s possible a “Peter Pan” like character found At-Attin, and used the treasure plant riches to finance the rise of the rebellion… Capt’n Jack might be a sqaulawage Jedi that got booted from the academy, and now 1st mate Smittee; will make contact with his captain “hand object”, to re-engage their quest for treasure (at-attin), a narrow escape will ensue… leading the kids to a happy return to their rebellion helping parents by Capt’n Jack, and Jack receiving the Black Pearl(or whatever they end up calling the ship the kids found) for his efforts, with the ability to use the planet as a hide out as long as he never tells where it is… (with the captain “hand object”{most likely that other captain guy from that other Star Wars TV show}, in the end credits, shown getting the coordinates to at-attain; for a season 2 setup)… Maybe we’ll even get an Asoka tie in, that explains how she was financed to help rebuild the republic, as a certain kid is taken to Luke Skywalker to be trained, and Jack gets an offer to visit him while he trains…. There were talks this might replace pirates of the Caribbean at the parks; as a cheaper way to repurpose an old ride, while also launching a kid friendly entry into the disney-verse… This would heavily unify Pirates/peter-pan/star-wars into a single property… with park tie-ins to “star-wars” and update numerous rides in the future… As a bonus note* it would be really cool if Jack Black and Lizzo some how got thrown into the mix of all this as well!!!

I love that they brought back at least a version of Crimson Jack. Some of the first comic books I ever bought as a young kid were a 3 pack of Star Wars 11-13 I think. One of the first post new hope comic books I ever stories with Solo’s old rival Crimson Jack.
This is the first starwars show in a bit that I am truly waiting for the next episode with excitement. I haven't hated everything, but I haven't been just dying to see most of it.
29:27 the other thing about The Mandalorian Seasons 1&2 and Andor, were they were character-driven stories that were free from the baggage of the sequel trilogy. They were both just good, compelling, well-told stories that happened to be taking place in the Star Wars galaxy.
I'm loving the show. The mix of goonies among other group of kids movies mixed with pirates and treasure hunting is a lot of fun. The subtle deep lore references also show the creators care about the franchise.
My guess is Crimson Jack is a Clone Wars veteran. The way he acted around SM-33 makes it seem like he’s not a fan of droids, and that seems to be a trait of other Clone Wars veterans.
3800 views in the first hour, fans just don’t care about this stuff anymore, unfortunately. Normally I would agree, but this has been the best live action show in my favorite IP’s lore for introducing Starwars to my son. Relatable to him enough for his attention & entertaining enough for me to watch with him. I’m thankful for this show for that reason alone.
"Nobody is withholding information for narrative purposes." That was one of the many maddening things about The Acolyte...it was so clearly obvious the writers were just jerking us around instead of telling us a story. I'm not sure the story is necessarily part of the "big saga" at all, at least not anything critical. Their currency isn't ancient, it's immediately recognizable by the pirates as being "Republic" rather than "Empire" or "New Republic. I don't think At Attin is a "treasure" planet...at least not in pirate terms. I don't think the planet is from the Old Republic, but from the prequel Republic. I think the fact that this world looks like the product of an "iron HOA" is for a point. It's interesting to note another difference: Droids are not only everywhere, but they also seem to be government-owned. Most of the droids we've seen in Star Wars have been personal possessions. How many human government officials have we seen? Only one, a "supervisor." All other officials or government "employees" have been droids. All positions of social authority, from school teachers to cops to tram drivers are droids. All the humans have vague jobs like "analyst." I think the "Great Work" is just make work to keep the humans occupied. When the one kid said he wanted a job "helping people," he was ridiculed by the droid teacher as well as the other children. They told him droids filled all those roles. That's ominous. We have an obviously strictly manicured world in which humans have irrelevant roles with all roles of authority filled by droids. Nobody is allowed on or off the world, no starship travel is permitted. Humans exploring the world outside their normal zones are quickly shooed back to their neighborhoods by droids. The world has been so tightly cocooned that the inhabitants don't know anything about the Clone Wars, the fall of the Republic, the Empire or its fall, or the New Republic. They think the prequel Republic still stands. They believe Alderaan still exists. They use currency from the prequel Republic era. For the planet to have been established and then hidden that far back, it can't be a function of the Empire or the New Republic or the First Order. Actually, this world is very much like Camazotz in "A Wrinkle in Time." The big mystery is how and why such a place exists.
We have heard the term supervisor in Star Wars before! It's an Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) rank. Dedra Meero from Andor is a Supervisor. That definitely makes me think there's an Imperial remnant tie-in.
My theory is that At Attin is kinda like the LOST island. The Republic lost it long ago and it was forgotten about. It has been on autopilot ever since, probably for several generations, but not thousands of years.
I for one will be disappointed if Jude Law's character turns out to be a jedi or sith. Jedi are generally pretty dull, and sith doesn't really make any sense. And it's always driven me nuts that it's always treated as an inevitability that if you're force sensitive, you end up in those 2 camps. If you found yourself having these sweet magic force powers as a kid, what would your first thoughts be? "I must join this chastity bound organization of stuffed shirts as soon as humanly possible", or "I've gotta find a mentor that I must kill, and eventually find an apprentice that will kill me in my sleep." No, you'd want nothing to do with that. You'd want to be your own person with these really cool powers that you'll use for good, ill, or neutral ends. The whole thing of being force sensitive meaning you're going to join one of these 2 groups makes the world seem that much smaller.
I think the only one thing bothering me in the show. Wouldn’t starship’s have some sort of history of where it’s been? I realize the show would just be over if they looked but they could at least explain the data was corrupted or something.
I love this interview video where we get honest and intriguing answers from show creators, learn new movie techniques, hints of the seeds that have been planted and hopefully the payoffs will be worth it, lessons learned from the past, and nice reveals!!!
The Acolyte had some interesting ideas and characters, it just had too many issues in how it told the story. It might have worked better as a tv movie.
This is treasure planet. I have zero doubt that At Attin is the fort knox of the old republic/empire and it was hidden to protect it and keep it out of the general galaxies reach.
I've just been enjoying this show and its vibe. It fits perfectly into Star Wars, feels independent of Skywalkers, maybe holds some deeper meaning to the Old Republic and First Order, which is clever, but I also don't care about that as much as I do for the crew. I have to admire how both this show and Andor can both represent the best of Star Wars and be on complete opposite sides of the spectrum for more casual fans.
SM33 has said twice “can’t say I’ve heard of At Attin.” Second time he made it weird… “only going to say it once,” “ aye” I’ll bet everything that he’s being litterally. He litterally CAN’T say that he HAS heard of it. He’s blocked from it. If you watch that scene again with that in mind, it’s perfect!
Have a feeling Crimson Jack was a Padawan who lost his master or escaped during order 66 as a young kid and ended up being a pirate trying to survive. Another theory I have is Wims dad has rebel connections and is a spy on the planet, that's how he lost his wife and now that Wim is gone he will reach out to them to try and get Wim back that way, which will cause his cover to be blown. I don't see them all going back to the planet now or at least life on the planet being the same after these events.
I really enjoy the show. When the 3rd episode ended I found myself saying “Nooooo! I don’t want to wait another week!” There are some subtle things happening that I am curious about. What medical issues does KB have? Her parents were talking about them. When Wim jumped into the gunner station, he actually got a good shot off. Was that by chance or is he using the force … like Anakin podracing. What happened to Wim’s mom? She read stories to him and he carries those with him. Was it a way for her to teach him about the force because she also was force sensitive? Is that why his father looked so distraught? What does he know? Why was it a big deal to Neel that he said he basically wanted to be a Jedi? At the end of this , will Neel talk to the classmate he has feelings for? Maybe the entire planet is controlled by droids and the Supervisor is a droid? Out of left field idea … could Jod be Korkie Kryze?
The first order only uses humans. why would they have a planet of 1/5 humans, judging by the overall appearances of different species on the planet, saved for use as their army and financial backing? That's a small army and alot of generational prejudice to deal with.
I'm glad you're making your bag with a sponsor and all, but I'm not buying from a guy that was charged for running a fraud lease to own scheme in New Zealand
Pirate reference: "Silvo" reminds me of the character "Long John Silver" whose moral ambiguity is a major plot point of the book Treasure Island. He flip-flops between good guy and bad guy throughout the entire book. In the end, he lands somewhere in between. Treasure Island, BTW, it the original kid on a pirate ship story. I think Jude Law's character will follow that same Long John Silver arc throughout this series.
I’ve always been fascinated by how the Jedi Order found and trained younglings, and have always speculated that in a huge galaxy it would be impossible to find every force sensitive, and what the life of a non-Jedi force sensitive would look like. I assume that without training, they wouldn’t be able to maximize their potential, but also would reveal their natural abilities through their lives, and be able to hone their skills by as Jude Law says “practice”. This is also in a time period without a Jedi Order at all, or a very young rebirthed Skywalker order. So that would mean that even the most powerful force sensitives would not be trained! I don’t think, AND severely hope that he has nothing to do with ANY Jedi, so we get a glimpse of a powerful force sensitive that never had the chance to be trained, just making their way through the galaxy without guidance! I LOVE IT! Fascinating!
The key thing you all seem to be missing is that the At-Attin population still honors the Jedi in their storytelling. I think Star Wars fans always want to connect dots, and when we do get a film that literally connects dots (The Last Jedi), we are disappointed. My guess, is that At-Attin will be a planet worth saving, a place that's not sinister, but instead a safe and protected haven. Perhaps by the Jedi were trying to keep at least some remnant of the Old Republic alive (pre-Palpatine). This way, the kids would need to fight to protect their home world, and Jude Law could become the Han Solo of this story who is faced with making a choice either to save the children, their planet, and their way of life, or to reveal the planet for reward.
One of the problems with connecting Atattin with the First Order is that the Empire was incredibly prejudiced against other species. I'm not sure they'd let nonhumans participate in their "Great Work." That said, Atattin could be Starkiller Base. Unlike Exegol, Starkiller Base had forests, and sunshine, and a climate, like Atattin. Also, the sequel stormtroopers could be the kids who didn't do well on their exams. If "the Supervisor" is a Hux, it's probably Starkiller Base.
This show is where the sequel trilogy should have started - in a galaxy with a weak New Republic and crime syndicates taking over remote parts of the galaxy and causing problems. Give us a glimpse of something we haven't seen, instead of a rehash of the Empire vs Rebels.
The end of Episode 3 tells me there might little chance for a happy return for those kids - the dad looks like he's about to do something stupid after the droid told the parents nothing could be done because the kids were outside the barrier.
I wasn't planning on watching it, but was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this show. It's just the last few releases from Star Wars have been either lackluster or mediocre at best. This show delivers a new fresh angle that has not been explored and so far it looks like the team really thought it through. I want more world building, not just force jedi stuff, and this show has it.
Every Disney plus Star Wars series has been enjoyable. Even Acolyte, which had some low points, still raised the bar for the fight scenes that I think were awesome! And the best we’ve seen in the tv shows. I most want Vader and Palpatine stuff in their own series or Kenobi season 2.
If this planet is a first order planet, they could have made the kids a little older and the main character could have been Finn, who then becomes a first order trooper, who then realizes he is on the wrong side and of course yields a lightsaber like he wanted in the sequel movies
Has anyone suggested a parallel between At Attin’s cult like Great Work and the Jedi’s own indoctrination of young children? Jod may be a former Jedi youngling who left years before Order 66, bridling at the Order’s restrictions in a way not dissimilar to how Wim’s adventurous nature grates against the oppressiveness of his home world

I can't believe nobody has connected Crimson Jack to Crimson Dawn yet
star wars theory was on it
A character that already exists in cannon. No connection to crimson dawn.
I did connect that they share the word crimson and it's probably not a coincidence, but ultimately I think this is just a dude who made many alliances with many fractions and had many aliases. In fact I think it would be funny if in every episode we learned a new alias.

If I’m not mistaken, Watts said, it’s not The Old Republic era credits but old credits from the Republic fall of the Jedi era.

Indeed. The kids act like kids not adult. But I wanted to be the captain!!!
We have heard the term supervisor in Star Wars before! It's an Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) rank. Dedra Meero from Andor is a Supervisor. That definitely makes me think there's an Imperial remnant tie-in.
My home planet blown up? F*ck that, I need to kiss my brother. 😂
Ryan slipping in Mac and Me 🤣🤣🤣
Ad Addin reminds me of the Manhattan Project
If the Jedi and inquisitors didn't seek him out it suggests he may have been with pirates for most of his life.
I think the only one thing bothering me in the show. Wouldn’t starship’s have some sort of history of where it’s been? I realize the show would just be over if they looked but they could at least explain the data was corrupted or something.
Like check the ships log and press reverse. Done. AtAttin. Welcome back. Byeeee
I think they are cutting out the high republic and the prequel trilogy. It's clearly a hit on KK.
Is this created to explain Palpotene?
“Mac & Me”. I heard that Ryan!! 😂
Am sorry, I think Jude Law is a excellent in this.
I love this interview video where we get honest and intriguing answers from show creators, learn new movie techniques, hints of the seeds that have been planted and hopefully the payoffs will be worth it, lessons learned from the past, and nice reveals!!!
Mac & Me 😂 10:37
Spot on with the comparisons to the TV movies. Definitely feel that vibe.
Jude law suits this role
The Acolyte had some interesting ideas and characters, it just had too many issues in how it told the story. It might have worked better as a tv movie.
This is treasure planet. I have zero doubt that At Attin is the fort knox of the old republic/empire and it was hidden to protect it and keep it out of the general galaxies reach.
I hope he is a super-powerful Jedi like Baylan Skoll. He is laying low so he doesn't get hunted. He has a complex agenda like Baylon...
Palpatine has been planning his contingency plans since before ROTJ. It’s addressed in Star Wars Battlefront
His bands biggest hit was "Wolf like Me" Perhaps a coincidence that one of the main antagonist is a basically a wolf.
Ryan blinks SO aggressively??
All these stories are trying to make sense of The Rise of Skywalker.
Ex Inquisitor, Crimson Jack, Maybe?
He will find the planet and then keep it secret to protect the kids.
So much yes!
Took some fatigue to really dig out some treasures. This and Agatha are this year's gems.
Crimson Jack Silvo is an obvious reference to Long John Silver. Silver played the long game but was a baddie in the end.
SM33 has said twice “can’t say I’ve heard of At Attin.” Second time he made it weird… “only going to say it once,” “ aye”
I’ll bet everything that he’s being litterally.
Definitely going to be a pirate founded planet calling it now Ryan
I really enjoy the show. When the 3rd episode ended I found myself saying “Nooooo! I don’t want to wait another week!”
There are some subtle things happening that I am curious about.
So good to see SW doing what Marvel started to do and branch out into different genres set in their universe.
I honestly couldn’t care less about explaining the train wreck that was the sequel trilogy. Disney just needs to take the L
I love that droids have to walk places?? ;P
JOHN WATTS has already stated that the "old" Republic he refers to is the one right before the Empire, meaning the SW Prequel trilogy time.
If only we could keep the sequels out of this.
Wim is Finn Theory is what I’m hoping for 🤷♂️
Came here to imply this. We don't know where this lands in the timeline beyond "post RTJ" so Winn absolutely could end up being Finn ...
The first order only uses humans. why would they have a planet of 1/5 humans, judging by the overall appearances of different species on the planet, saved for use as their army and financial backing? That's a small army and alot of generational prejudice to deal with.
@@captainsnax6699 No one is saying that At Attin was the only source for the army. And they absolutely used other species, just not militarily.
Skeleton Crew
Absolutely loving Skeleton Crew!!!! I still personally like Andor more, but this is a close second!!
Elephant meat......"well that escalated quickly " 😂
As a kid I loved caravan of courage.. that to me was a great show. I really liked it.
I enjoy the Skeleton crew. It's more child friendly, but I don't mind that.
Why would you want to save a corpse (the sequel)?
One of the problems with connecting Atattin with the First Order is that the Empire was incredibly prejudiced against other species. I'm not sure they'd let nonhumans participate in their "Great Work." That said, Atattin could be Starkiller Base. Unlike Exegol, Starkiller Base had forests, and sunshine, and a climate, like Atattin. Also, the sequel stormtroopers could be the kids who didn't do well on their exams. If "the Supervisor" is a Hux, it's probably Starkiller Base.
The only thing I like about Screen Crush is Doug !
This show is where the sequel trilogy should have started - in a galaxy with a weak New Republic and crime syndicates taking over remote parts of the galaxy and causing problems. Give us a glimpse of something we haven't seen, instead of a rehash of the Empire vs Rebels.
I think the "treasure" of At-Attan is the suburban family life.
The first episodes felt like a Disney show with some StarWars flavour
Jod may be a former Jedi youngling who left years before Order 66, bridling at the Order’s restrictions in a way not dissimilar to how Wim’s adventurous nature grates against the oppressiveness of his home world
NEEL NATION WE HERE! 😀
