Hi Dr. Parker, MS II here and very interested in surgery. Wondering if you could realistically describe what life as a surgeon is like. It's hard to tell what I might be signing up for for the next couple decades with the current content out there right now. Thank you, big time fan for past few years and glad to see you back making videos!

Hi Dr. Parker ! I have a curiosity… Why doctors don’t prescribe a simple mineral as a Magnesium for the digestive system? It does miracles!

Why do medications like Ibuprofen and Aleve cause me bad stomach pains if I take them for more than a couple of days? I do take them with food and that doesnt seem to help.

Is the resuscitative thoracotomy the craziest operation you've performed? And how often and under what conditions was it utilized?

Hey Doc, great videos. I was wondering how many surgeries you typically preform in a week?
How have your work hours change since residency?

My friend had a finger injury, he showed me today and it looks like all the meat and muscle and skin was completely sheered off from the tip of his thumb down to the first bend of his thumb and all that’s left is his bone. He still has the rest of his thumb from the first bend and below but his bone is exposed and it’s all healed up. This is how the hospital left it. Can they do this? Isn’t it unsanitary for him?

It can heal like this but typically it will be removed and sewn up to close the wound.

Hi Dr. Buck. Is the vasovagal syncope/response in the or a limiting factor to pursue a surgical specialty or is it something that you eventually get over and can become a surgeon? Thanks

Are you still mining crypto? Do you think it is still a viable way to replace your income?

Easy, give your life to Christ. My happiness increased drastically knowing I have the One True God guiding my life. I have a serious medical condition that was killing my soul and He renewed my spirit and the fight to live. If God is for us, who can be against us?

Hi Dr.Buck, Im an MS2 from American University of the Caribbean? I'm currently doing really well in my class (Dean list and honors) but I'm kinda lost on what to improve upon besides my grades and extracurricular (TAing, Tutoring, clubs, etc...). Im aspiring to be a surgeon like you. What else do program director focus on? Thanks

Do you need to continue studying as a doctor to keep up with the latest treatment modalities and medication in your field of practice? If so, how many hours per week/month do you need to study?

Hey Dr. Buck, You mentioned that you’ve gotten away from surgery, but I don’t remember if you said what you’re doing now. Can you talk about some options for physicians to work outside medicine?

Hey Dr. Buck, What are your thoughts on IR? IR is now a separate residency and allows you able to do image guided surgical procedures, do you personally interact with IR often?

IR is great. Yes I work w those docs a lot. I think they r smart, mostly pretty kind and have good lifestyle. Hard to tell what their schedule is like but they seem happy.
