My 82 year old Dad loves playing with scammers. They assume he's a daft old man. He's a brilliantly clever retired police officer.
The secret weapon we old guys have is time. I put a timeshare salesman on speaker phone and kept him talking for close to 2 hours while I worked on a model ship. I had him research local restaurants, bus routes, local hospitals... Boy was he pissed, when I told, never mind, it's too far for an old guy to walk to the beach.
@edwardmeade that's amazing. I wish I had that kind of time lol
Never underestimate the combo of age + treachery.
A cybersecurity expert once said the most horrific thing you can do to a scammer is to actually respond, but to only 'kind of' follow instructions. Ask MANY questions and throw curveballs often. Every response they have to waste time crafting that they aren't getting your info or money is THOUSANDS of dollars they lose. But you also have to be careful, just like James says during the talk.
I highly recommend James Veitch story of the ducks. I want this man to be my friend!
James is a r4pist
Ducks one has been done a few days ago. 😊
@@vincentking2552 ah OK! Gotta watch that next then. Thank you
That's my favourite James Veitch sketch too haha
@@felixhenson9926 I want a flatmate like him! Never a dull moment! 🤣
I used James Veitch as inspiration when I got a scam Facebook message a few years ago...I swear, that was the funniest two weeks of my life. 😂😂😂
(For some humorous context, I was able to convince this person that I moved to Japan with my cat (that I don't own) to become a vinegar sommelier, and that I wanted my "$10k" delivered to me in Japan, in Rupees. And the guy just rolled with it. Like I said, best/funniest two weeks of my entire life! 😂)
If you like this, Joe Lycett is an elite level corporate troll who has also responded to some scams in a similar way. He's had so much success with it that he now has his own consumer affairs show.
Agreed, Hugo Boss is a great a trolling....i mean, Joe Lycett.
Corporate troll?
@@eadweard. He trolls corporations. For example, he sent horrible kid's watches you could buy on amazon, that could be hacked so someone could listen to and real time track the kids, to an amazon hq office where they were on and listening. He legally changed his name to Hugo Boss to put the company on the spot for trying to claim they have a trademark on the word 'Boss' when they threatened a small brewery called Boss Brewery for a couple of their beer names that were referring to their own company. So because he did it, the press paid attention and spoke about it so they then said it was a misunderstanding.
@@TheHestya Oh thank you for explaining. I thought he meant a troll who's corporate in nature.
Omg yes 100%
James did another TED talk, also about scam emails, and that one is even funnier. Also, I've always said VEETCH
There are people who make a living talking to the scammers. They pretend to be old to fool the scammers. They sometimes plant viruses on the scammers' computers. And generally wind them up.
They are called 'scambaiters'. They are heroes and so funny to watch.
I feel a reaction to Kitboga (on YT) is in order. His grandma voice is amazing, and the situations he engineers are so funny.
ua-cam.com/video/XrhoIzQr6vI/v-deo.htmlsi=fHIweIdskbH3VJNY
The scammer maze trap is next level.
Kitboga dose it live all the time
I like Rinoa Poison, she's really great at making scammers lose their shit.
@@xARESEEx "WHY DID YOU CUT THE CARDS!!!???"
KB ... if you liked this, I think you might also like DAVE GORMAN's style of presenting.
Found Poems are a must
For sure. Dave Gorman’s Modern Life is Goodish is vastly underrated.
This is a right shout
@@MelvinSimKH his googlewhack adventure is still my favourite standup routine of all time
He sucks. And this guy is OK but he can't pronounce his own surname...
Scammer payback is a great channel to watch scammers get what they deserve.
Check out Joe Lycett's responses to fines emails etc. Very funny!😊
The best karen the World has !
He Spammed the Spammer, that was Hilarious!
James Veitch is Quackers. Love the guy
he's a r4pist.
@@GilesWendesReally? I thought he'd just been accused.
@@eadweard.He has.
@@eadweard. Not even "just," it was in September of 2020, and it was more than a dozen women, and it was assault and rape. He's pretty much disappeared since it happened.
@@NatrixHasYou Does that mean he's guilty?
The video "James Veitch is a terrible roommate" is also worth checking out. It also has some ducks.
I love messing with phone scammers! My goal is to get on their “Do not call” list 🤣
Used to regularly get calls from scammers pretending to be from the company I work for, they'd instantly hang up when I said so did I and asked them to confirm their employee identification number, so I started doing the same with others claiming to be from microsoft etc, worked every time!
Definitely Dave Gorman. Not "side splitting" hilarity, but very, very clever and sometimes completely a left field approach.
Was going to suggest Dave Gorman as well, Modern Life is Goodish is on his youtube channel.
WHile this is where I came into the joy that is James Veitch... You have to see his story about the ducks... THAT will have you rolling.
I set up an appointment for a conservatory, they did turn up but never went further than the downstairs buzzer as I'm in a 3rd floor flat
You have to watch Dave Gorman's 'Modern Life is Goodish'
And the newer one, Terms and Conditions Apply.
Just anything Dave Gorman...
There are still a lot of these scams going about, and for a one off payment of just £19:90 i can show you how to avoid them all. 😉
Will do, but due to having large amounts of debt my bank will only allow me to send money to people who is in my contact list. So you will have to first send me £5 so that I can reimburse you by sending £24:90 back
I'll take two please.
My father in law loves getting those scam phone calls, he’s in his 80’s 🤣 he says things like “oh I know you, we met at that party last week, you were coming on to me something awful” 🤣🤣 they pretty quickly hang up
I think Joe Lycett does the best of these, although Dave Gorman is defo worth checking out.
Yes. The amount of parking fines he must have dodged just by being facetious.
There are quite a lot of people doing scam baiting to various levels of sophistication. Some do it with the real intention to take down the organisations which peddle this stuff. Others do it primarily for entertainment value. Atomic Shrimp does a lot of this with some very funny conversations.
Id recommend Dave Gormans Important Astrology Experiment. Its all on UA-cam as far as Im aware. Love the channel mate!
James veitch is awesome, he does loads of stuff like this.
No, he's a sexual abuser. I used to love his stuff.
Do Adam Buxton internet comments - hilarious!
There is either a longer version or a second video where the spammers begged him to stop emailing then in the end
I worked with a sales rep once who had free time at home when he got a call from a company trying to sell him double-glazing. He went through all their questions and so forth for about half an hour and the person at the other end was planning how to spend their commission when my friend hit them with..."Ooh! One more thing". "Yes?" "You do do it on caravans don't you?"
He said they put the phone down so fast it nearly burnt his ear.
James is so dryly funny. He just has this way with everything he does. the scam emails are great, but he is so much more too
Saw this years ago, I reply to scammers and waste their time. It's a good laugh.
You need to see his routine on the worst roommate ever.
Dude where did u get that Ghastly? That's awesome
I answered that telegram thing on someone else’s account once. I just said ‘what?’ No answer 😂
Stewart Lee - Internet Comments is good
Stewart Lee is UTTERLY unfunny.
@@JohnM... only to folk that don't get his humour, stick to mrs browns boys
Unfunny, for the intellectually challenged maybe.
@@JohnM... There's always one mentally deficient mouth breather ready to spring into action with some over-emotive juvenile hyperbole whenever Stewart Lee is mentioned.
Christ, it must be exhausting.
@@MashLimit no. He’s just unfunny. Just because you seem to have the attitude that you’re smarter than most, actually doesn’t make a comedian funny. If he is unfunny that is a self certifying statement (and a FACT). It’s not that I don’t find him funny - he just isn’t.
I will get scammers trying to buy property that isn't mine and will pretend that it is in order to set up property tours that I will never show up to.
Very clever and funny
Jim Browning Scamming The Scammers On Here " Irish chap that uses there cctv to expose there scamming on many, many ways" , been on bbc to various channels to show people not to buy into Delhi Pakistani Scams 😂
What the hell is that smokey machine?!
I sincerely NEED that Gastly you have there, where did you get it?
Clip aside how much do you never want to be in the company of that audience, that's a hell of a lot of lanyards 😂😂
Well, James will have plenty of time on his hands these days to continue this work, since his career's in the mud. Unfortunately, he turned out to be a bit of a monster, seemingly. He had a dozen abuse (and worse) allegations against him and that was four years ago, so I guess they stuck (not heard anything about it since).
There are plenty of scam-baiters out there. Some people do like this guy and "take the piss out of...".. Others intentionally try to make it look like they really really ARE gullible, just to waste as much time as possible.. Every minute we delay them is to decrease their profit margins; The problem is that a lot of these scams make so much money when the succeed and are fairly difficult to find out who did what and when, that it often still is worth it... So.. if anyone is willing to use of their own time to waste the time of these scammers, you don't have to be all THIS clever to be a part of .. "The resistance".. Every minute of their time you waste is a minute they can't use to get to someone that WOULD get tricked.
You should try James Veitch rubber duck video
was anyone else just hugely mesmerised by what the fuk was on KB desk thats wicked
It's Ghastly. An overpriced, short-lasting humidifier that leaves a puddle of water, afterwards, (paraphrasing KB's own words).
I don't get scam phone calls anymore. Not since I told those guys in Kolkota what they should get up to with their own mothers.
1 I've seen a couple of sponsors for aurora security (also from a reactor/parent). It's seemed like a lot at $20-$30 but that might be annually and if you get thousands of spam E-mails it does seem useful to you and other content creators.
2 I really want to know if the telegram has always been around, just only rarely used by the military as the years and technology progressed.
Or it was a defuncted method of communication some time after the world/Vietnam & Korean wars, when phones where getting more widespread and probably cheaper. So have only recently had a resurgence due to social media but basically made by and for scammers.
A scammer called me and i pretended to be a crime scene investigator looking into my suspicious death and long story short i had him convinced he was under investigation because of the talk of money exchanging and yada yada and he started getting real scared and to this day i dont know if he went to the 5th story parking garage in Charlotte north carolina to bring my team all the documents he has regarding the victim but i like to think he got on a plane 😂
Theres someone else who did similar but with a spam call, legit got the scammer to stop trying to scam and get legit medical help after he told the scammer he just downed a bottle of bleach to clean his system, but let his kid try it first in case it was bad lol.
Worth watching John Oliver's last week tonight show on scammers. It has a depressing note to it Chinese casinos that shut down during Covid restarted as scam centres instead and will beat the workers they buy if they don't perform
You should watch his bit on the request of someone who wanted ventilation and his bit on his roommate.
should look into scammer payback. its a youtube channel where he does this stuff live, really good dude.
419 baiters is a whole community and movement of scam baiters. No shortage of scammers yet.
Great video as always, but where’s my P Nights at?
I hope you watched the one where he set up a count down spam email back to a different scammer.
he bought gold... things get serious, if you can buy redstone and dilithium. kryptonite is a good commodity too.
Find Rhys James stalking stand up bit. It's so good
Boomer, where did you get the smoke machine that looks like a cat? it's awesome.
Veitch is doing God's work.
Facejacker green wing ...
if a scammer replies to this message, i wont respond unless they use the secret code words
"... do whatever you guys want."
No.
Davis Bon is still dead...
If you know, you know 😉
He’s the soul called Barrister John Warosa
Guys, could someone explain the smoking Ghastly to me? I've never seen one before and I feel dumb.
It's just a humidifier he found online, I think.
You should see the one he does about rubber ducks and a heated towel rail in the bathroom they're as funny as this video.
Veitch rhymes with beach or peach
When people still read spam emails
I read them to see what shit they are trying these days
sadly I still have to peruse the junk email folders from time to time as the filters do still put legitimate emails in there. :(
if someone sends you god and you get 10% of its value for distributing it just keep 100% of the gold.
It's a meh kind of event, bummed out they didn't buff kaishu or prim more appropriately
You must watch dave gormans modern life is goodish
If you're having fun with people messing with scammers, Kitboga tries to waste as much scammer time as possible on stream
irl though, just delete them. the instant you reply, you are tagged as an active account, and will be spammed by maaaaaaany more
Wait. So these messages you sent me about the XXX Hot Psychic Mortgage Company isn’t actually from you?
Fuck the porn bots have made it here now ? forget those, I need to know where you got that Gastley light/smoke machine
The Gastly Humidifier. Search it up and you'll find it.
I cant remember which video he said it in, it might've been a Patreon exclusive one. Basically, he wouldn't recommend it.
If it's not from the original account and they pretend to be someone, it's an instant block from me. I am not humoring them.
We had a lovely lady about a decade ago, she was 72 at the time. She'd taken up arms against phone scammers pretending they were from Microsoft, wanting to gain access to her computer. She wasn't being mean about it either, but she said that it was only fair she wasted their time and she inspired a lot of people to do the same.
Check out 419 Eater Letters Archive if you really want to know more about how the experts do it.
Please do the follow-up video to this called something like "More adventures in replying to spam emails", imo it's even funnier than this one.
I don't know whether you realised and I'm assuming you didn't, but the box containing the exchange between the scammer and James was partially cut off. It did ruin the experience somewhat.
If it sounds too good to be true...
...you have no ducks in your Bathroom.
If i dont recognise phone number i don't pick up , hmm , imagine scenario Hospital calling you to tell you that your wife got hit by a truck and is dying and u are like meh I don't know this number Blup Call Declined
Yeah, something like that *has* crossed my mind.
Leave a message wont they 🤷🏻♂️
Scam baiting can be interesting and rewarding, although usually isn’t very funny. Scammers I have interacted with have stopped, as soon as I started getting surreal. But I have received furious emails after sending them off to collect money from Western Union, using bogus documents, and that’s a precious memory. But please do some research into how to scan bait safely before jumping straight in.
Don't worry, we don't know how to pronounce his name either
The telegram scammer is doing it on other channels too
James Veitch is not a good dude according to multiple female comedians.
Comedians? I thought the accusations came from women he went to college with, was there more than that?
@@DerEchteBold Yeah, it's people he went to college with.
Some of JV's stuff is MUCH better than the ones on the vid you just watched.
The scammers in UA-cam comments pretend to be pretty much all content creators with a decent following.
Uhhm ever hear of scam baiters?
KB, the "Telegram" bot scam messages are all over YT. I feel they could stop all of it at any time, but, they don't care. Why would they?
Also, adding my voice to the crowd - Dave Gorman, he's so much better at this style of presentation than James. You need to be watching him instead.
Do I dare recommend Sam Hyde's Ted talk... yes, I think I do. Watch that :)
the telegram stuff is scriptedm almost every reaction channel gets them
JOE LYCETT = King of comedy emails. (If you haven't been down the JL rabbit hole yet)
I much prefer Joe Lycett rather than James Veitch, the sexual predator.
THE BEST!
quick tip, bit obvious, but have separate adtesses for registering stuff online, with Not you name....
and your man address, make it slightly weird, why? apam is scripted, so when the mail starts with 'dear bo0mer king', well, that's a scam. delete
The people who say they talked to you are also that same scammer. Hoping you will pay for their "loss".
why is the video stretched so much
James Veitch is HILARIOUS... until you find out about all the rape allegations...
Where are the porn bots?
So you mean it wasn't you who contacted me asking me to meet you in the woods naked to read bible versus whilst performing scenes from Monty Python.
I wondered why you never showed up.
😂
Anything asking you to download or use Instagram is a con...
Just noticed your Gastly
Great seeing Tom Holland trying out stand up.. He was really good.
Seen this talk a few times before and don't think it's particularly funny - seems to be way too contrived to actually land. Veitch is also a very questionable person, given the allegations surrounding him.
Why have you seen it so many times if you don't like it?
He seems to be more toxic than a urinal cake in Chernobyl. And it's not just his time at Sarah Lawrence, there's even controversy surrounding his "comedy special" Kickstarter that he set up over two years ago - had a goal of £5k, managed to get £88k - and he's still produced nothing for the backers. Grim.
I can confirm that I was a backer on kickstarter for his game, and I definitely got it.
@@chrisp7393 Well, good, that's a relief I guess. Was that a separate Kickstarter? Or part of the one I mentioned above?
