Luffy's Kenbunshoku Haki has developed to the point where he is able to foresee Katakuri's attacks and trade blows with him. With an hour to go before his planned rendezvous with the crew, Luffy activates a form of Gear Fourth known as Snakeman.

@@febriawan6957 It shows in Katas backstory that the only person who treated him nicely growing up was Brulee, everyone else including his family thought he was a monster because of his mouth and how strong he was. She got hurt because of how out of control he was so he decided to become what he is now.
After fighting Luffy he found someone who is not only stronger than him but showed him the path he wished he had taken. Sort of like how Bellamy comes to terms with Luffy being the man he should has idolized.
Baxta said it best here. Luffy is a monster. The sheer tenacity makes me fear him more than most protags, even if they are stronger.
