I was fortunate enough to watch this jam session at Ameripolitan. Sierra (and Rachel Brooks) was the performer who knew the words to most of the suggested songs, the impromptu band leader. You could see her busking experience playing out in a big way. She was the rag tag band leader, she commands that kind of attention. Authenticity is becoming more rare by the day. Sierra Ferrell has it in spades. ♠️
Lucky you! She's so powerfull and natural. Playing music and singing together is the most beautifull way to enjoy life. Well, except from love. But there is so much love in moments like this.
She is unbelievable the talent alone but the enthusiasm and obvious enjoyment singing a song by a guy who died probably 30- 40 yrs before most of these were even born. Hank is to country music what Elvis and Chuck Berry were to rock n roll in the beginning then what the Beatles were to pop music a few yrs later of course all influenced by one another. Hank was and still is the greatest American country music will ever produce. Just glad Hank never had to listen to what passes for today's country he'd have drank even more. He done more in 12 months than today's country radio stars could produce in 100 yrs.
“Hank is to country music” True but that’s a bit myopic. His influence on music genres never imagined in his day is perhaps more significant- in country music that was “expected”- because his mastery of lyric and captivation of audiences was otherworldly in his time.
Loving this, such enthusiasm. BTW, this song reached number 2 on both Billboard Most Played chart and on the National Best Sellers chart back in 1952. The flip side was You Win Again. Hope our beautiful and talented Sierra gives us some more Hank songs, she sure has the voice and the talent.
ua-cam.com/video/n8O7dOuSMyo/v-deo.html Mitch Polzak and Sierra Ferrell sing "Handsome Molly" very touchingly, if it was me you were asking. That's what I'd say, "very touchingly"
Played with Tebbs and his friends at a festival and man he's just the coolest dude and a talented pedal steeler. His other ohioan bruvs were all talented musicians too.. Love seein these jams recorded. It's important for fans to see these and realize that just because some musicians gain stardom, and are so energetically magnetic like Sierra, that they too are human and fell in love with playing this music because of moments like these... Playin and dancing, making memories with good company. A good ole family tradition.
Reminds me of festival express. Jerry and the Dead, Janis, and a whole slew of others all took a train across Canada partying and having a good old time, stopping here and there to play some tunes. They lost a ton of money and some of the best scenes from that period in music came from them just screwing around on that train. I'd say it's safe to say that tour enhanced them all, not that it was a financial success, but it got a bunch of great musical minds together, and they hung out and played together just for fun on that train, all learning a bit from one another... it's cool to see something like that happening at this afterparty here. And Seirra front and center driving the whole thing... that's my girl ❤
This would've made my grandpa so happy...I'm drinking a blue ribbon like that gal but my grandpa was a beer truck driver after he came home from the korean war. He sold Utica club. UC baby😊nice jacket by the way🍻
One of the many things I love about music, especially bluegrass/country. I've spent many a night aroind a fire at a bluegrass festival singing out hearts out!!
This is one of the moments why life is so beautifull! The joy of life shines with all it's beauty out of moments like this.

Yes I could see she was the de facto leader. Without her it could well have been a shambles!
