  • Swami Sarvapriyananda teaches the Mundaka Upanishad which one of the major Upanishads belonging to the Atharva Veda. Mundaka means ''shaved'' like a shaved head. The teachings revealed in this Upanishad are meant to leave the student clean, or shaved of the veil of ignorance. Indeed, the study of this Upanishad has been traditionally confined to the shaven-heads, or the sannyasins, who have renounced everything and devoted themselves exclusively to contemplation. The book consists of 64 Mantras (verses) split across Mundakas (parts) and Khandas (sections) as follows:
    Mundaka 1 - Khanda 1 - 9 mantras (1.1.1 - 1.1.9)
    Mundaka 1 - Khanda 2 - 13 mantras (1.2.1 - 1.2.13)
    Mundaka 2 - Khanda 1 - 10 mantras (2.1.1 - 2.1.10)
    Mundaka 2 - Khanda 2 - 11 mantras (2.2.1 - 2.2.11)
    Mundaka 3 - Khanda 1 - 10 mantras (3.1.1 - 3.1.10)
    Mundaka 3 - Khanda 2 - 11 mantras (3.2.1 - 3.2.11)

When you are talking about consciousness aren’t you objectifying it as well? Isn’t this why Thakur insisted that the consciousness can only be realised when you are one with it as in Samadhi? But then you become like the salt doll that set out to reveal what the ocean was to the world, as soon as it entered the ocean it became one with it, and its identity was completely lost to itself. This is why Thakur insisted that as long as you have body consciousness it’s futile to talk about Brahman and the self being the same, also saying that whatever Brahman is, it can’t be revealed by the tongue. So he insisted, as long as body consciousness remains it’s best to assume the attitude of a Bhakta, যতক্ষণ দেহবুদ্ধি না যায় থাক শালা দাস আমি ভক্ত আমি হয়ে। He also said বেদে আভাস মাত্র পাওয়া যায়।

      प्रतिबोध विदितं मतममृतत्वं हि विन्दते ।
      आत्मना विन्दते वीर्यं विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम् ॥ ३ ॥
pratibodha viditaṃ matamamṛtatvaṃ hi vindate |
      ātmanā vindate vīryaṃ vidyayā vindate'mṛtam || 4 ||
pratibodha viditam ( self is revealed through every cognition, we just do not recognize it). Sri Ramakrishna also said, God can be seen only with eyes closed? What kind of a God is it?
No experience is possible without pure awareness. We have to discern this pure awareness in this very experience. Jnani has a clay vision and sees only clay, the ignorant only sees the pot. The highest teachings were reserved for inner circle. He cajoled Swami Vivekananda to read Ashtavakra Gita but not to other disciples. Why? Only swamiji was mature enough to grasp the highest truth of Advaita. You are right though that the personality dissolves into the Self with this knowledge.
So Self can only be pointed at but directly not described as it is beyond language but with shravana manana and nididhyasanam the knowledge will come. This knowledge is like a stick used to stir the funeral pyre, it itself will burn in the end, what remains cannot be described (as per Ramana Maharshi).

Who is Thakur? If you said Rishi swekadeba....or Rama Krishna or Jesus said I would agree nevertheless, swami sarvapriyananda has consistently said it cannot be known, or said neither experienced...... consciousness is infinite and is our real nature Atma but how else could the mind express it?
Even samadhi is an object of consciousness, it comes and goes but we don't come and go and as long as we are still putting on this Jada mind will always say consciousness though it can't conceive that

Yes, whatever you said is correct except that Swami is objectifying the consciousness. Remember thakur also said, "God is seen through pure mind". Meaning pure mind and consciousness is one and the same.

Just wanted a clarification on whether a realised person attains siddhis even though he may not use them and even others may not even know he is realised or has psychic powers.
My question is simply - does every realized person acquire the shaktis or siddhis automatically?

    • @sumitdutta7043

While on the process of enlightened many siddhis develop which will urge you to distract you. If you have freat will power it won't effect you.
After enlightened it is not necessary that you will have all the powers. But again you won't even find the need to attain them since you are now either too close to GOD or you are GOD, what power would you require now.
If the necessity arises you will gain then too by doing sadhna.
---no personsl experience its just what I have read or heard.

Siddhis and Shaktis are of body or mind Realised person has no identification with body. Hence he is not bothered of these powers. Atman is omnipresent n omnipotent so powers are there

Maybe there is a point at which it can´t be spoken of mind anymore, as it purifies itself and deepens into its true nature, likewise there is point at which it can´t be spoken of ice as it gets melted into water becoming it itself water, is it not that Brahman only can be known as Brahman, i.e., being Brahman? Ice was water all the time, though. Maybe it is the same regarding to mind.

अंगुष्ठ मात्र पुरुष:। Why Upanishads define supreme being God Brahman Atman in human beings body in this shape form.
Howsoever limitless transcendental Pure eternal infinite Brahman be but in human body gross subtle causal panch kosha
certain mechanism is set for proper functioning and layout of things.
