I definitely want to put this in a build one day. Maybe in conjunction with @warmboard flooring panels. #radiant #hvac #ac #heatpump"
We're happy that Matt came to the Active House USA book and checked out our system!

Will Matt be doing a deeper dive video for the products showcased at IBS 2023?

He did go around filming various booths at the show for his UA-cam. He even interviewed our co-founder, Francesco! But in terms of the Active House USA booth, he mainly focused on Messana, SpacePak, and Jaga products.

@@messanatech When Matt says "you're going to snap pex in there", he actually meant that PEX has already been built into the panels?
Also, the subtitles had it spelled as PECS, it's not a new form of PEX, I suppose? 🙂

@@oldporkchops Haha, this was his video and it didn't seem like he reviewed the captions at all, they were auto-generated. Messana was spelled wrong too!
Anyway, I think he meant that we connect the pre-insulated PEX supply and return lines to the panels. Kind of confusing with the way he gestured to the panel though.

@@messanatech Makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.

So why would I use their panels over warm board for instance?
I know their designed primarily for sheet rock and I hate sheet rock 😂

Thanks for asking, there are a few reasons!
First, cost, we have a lower sqft. cost since you'd be combining your heating and cooling system into one easy-to-manage and customizable system.
Next, since our panels have such a low thermal mass, they have a faster response time. Because of this, our ceiling panels can be used for radiant cooling because we can change the radiant surface temperature quickly to avoid condensation. With that said, our controls can be used to manage radiant floor cooling, but you'll need to stay further from the dew point since your system would have a slower response time (decreasing cooling output, so you'd most likely need supplementary hydronic fan coils). Our controls can also manage your complete hydronic system, whereas, with WarmBoard, you can upgrade to control SpacePak devices only (our controls can integrate with various brands and devices).
That leads to output overall! Warmboard states their panels can provide 10 BTUs/sqft in heating. Our NK panels output in heating is the following:
      24 Btu/h/sq.ft @100 °F (Max 52 Btu/h/sq.ft @130 °F)
      And in cooling:
      21 Btu/h/sq.ft @55 °F (Max 31 Btu/h/sq.ft @46 °F)
Additionally, the installation process is quicker and easier overall. There is even less job-site clash with the other trades compared to a radiant floor install where the other trades often have to work around the radiant floor.
And last but certainly not least, comfort! A radiant ceiling provides an unobstructed radiant surface, so all thermal energy is "radiated" directly to your environment. There is no furniture or carpet to obstruct the radiant surface (so you actually need less radiant surface area with a radiant ceiling compared to a radiant floor). The main reason people choose a radiant floor over a ceiling is simply that they are set on having warm floors, so we made sure our controls can manage hybrid systems for those clients.
