When I was growing up we raised a lot of pigs, we lived near a lipton plant that made the dehydrated soups.
My Dad would go and buy 55 gallon drums of pea soup, chicken soup and chow mein noodles.
We would mix the soup powder up into a thick but slightly loose base to put in with the feed, then top with noodles.
Our pigs loved it, grew huge.

My Dad used to soak his pig feed too. If the pigs didn't eat it all when he brought house scraps down he would stir it in with the feed they would eat it all because it was mixed together and they wanted all the "real" food lol.

Hi Jason, on the thinner wall chicken feeder, you can always put two end blocks in the middle to stiffen the side walls which will eliminated the flexing.

I discovered something about celery. If you cut off the ends and put them in water and put them in the refrigerator they will become very crisp and almost sweet. Give it a try and let me know how that works out for you. I use a quart jar or larger if I have a lot of celery.

Your garden is fantastic! What a difference this year. I'm happy you seem to have found the secret to your land. It's so much more controlled and not overgrown. You keep those little pigs clean and happy. I'd much rather eat what I know has been cared for humanely. They are God's creatures also. Thanks for sharing that part with everyone. Blessings

My KuneKunes learned to respect that same premier1 fence pretty much instantly. They tested it once and never again. Pigs will dash forward if they are shocked behind ears (like their belly or butt) but they will back up if they are shocked on their noses which is why that fence is designed the way it is. It's all about the netting being at the right height so they test it with their noses.

When my dad had his farm the milk truck did double duty. It picked up our cans of milk and would leave us with a 55 gallon barrel of whey. We mixed that whey with the pigs feed and it was sloppy. Of course this was before they found a use for whey so it was free. The cheese factory would drain the whey into a ditch if customers did not use it all. You could always tell if there was a cheese factory coming up just from the smell of that whey.
