Workspaces are enabled by default now Tab stacks is actually "Multi Row Tabs" it will split into rows after certain tabs(they added vertical tabs to it as well since lot of edge users liked that feature)

If you think this is disrespectful to the person who is gone, I can understand that. However if you want to change the name, I suggested in the other reply to name it "Blaze Browser", in play with the affiliated organization "Ablaze". While I personally have no interest into using this browser over my standard Firefox, I still applaud the work you are doing and be grateful for all the alternatives we have.

Forking a browser and embedding custom functionality directly into the codebase is the proper, albeit more challenging, approach for serious development. This method, rather than simply adding extensions, allows for deeper integration, customization, stability and even some sort of branding. It's impressive to note that this project isn't just a basic fork; it has attracted a huge number of contributors, 5000+ at the time of this comment, including Mozilla developers, who are actively enhancing the repository with their code.
Workspaces is coming back, soon. Tab Groups were originally planned to replace the old, buggy, Workspaces implementation, but Floorp's planned implementation ended up being identical in functionality to workspaces so they are being reimplemented soon as a rewritten Workspaces feature. PS: Floorp View is Firefox View. That's just how localisation works in Firefox (Browser Name + " View").
You might be able to re-brand to gain more traction with users while maintaining the Floorp identity by just shortening to the "F Browser" or expand Floorp into a full acronym that sounds really cool and people will use the F word to refer to it. But it'll always be Floorp
I would MUCH rather have the functionality as extensions and keep the mainline Firefox+Updates instead of depending on an entirely other development tree to release browser updates.
Damn Matt, you always talking about the lack of tab groups in FF but what about Sideberry extension? I'm using both Vivaldi and FF with Sideberry and FF+SB is faaaaaar more feature-rich and useful. Give it a try.
I'm using Panorama View addon for Floorp to replace workspaces feature. And I like it even more than workspaces, because it offers bird-eye view of all tabs and groups with previews, and you can drag and drop. I miss tab groups, though, not sure if it would ever work with panorama view. I like, that you can add addons to sidebar panel in Floorp, useful for AI Chat addon. Also you can reopen tab in private tab and vice versa, which is handy.
Tabgroups would be nice, but having workspaces (as mentioned in the pinned comment: you have to enable them in settings) does most of the job for me . Thank you for mentioning this browser! Only one thing left and that would make it the perfect browser: Something like Opera's Pinboards, or Edge's Collections.

I have started using Vivaldi for work after seeing your Vivaldi video @TheLinuxCast since we heavily rely on google suite. My major issue of FF and all forks is lack of side tabs and tabs UI is way too big for laptop screen space utilization. It really bugs when they take up so much space.
11:55 is actually a normal Firefox feature, it's relatively new, but there should be a little drawer icon somewhere on one of your bars that opens up this same view, except it's called "Firefox view". It used to a be a Firefox icon, but now it's a little drawer.
Literally just discovered this browser last night so excellent timing. Currently use Vivaldi after watching your video on workspace management which is just excellent but really wanted a Firefox based back up browser/replacement. Floorp is great since it does have vertical tabs by default but workspace management/grouping just isn't there so I definitely have to make compromises. Most likely this will be second choice browser and main Firefox based browser but really hoping future development will allow me to make it my #1 browser.
Name They say they are only affiliated with the organization Ablaze (from their Github Readme). And a good name for the browser based on it could be "Blaze". Extensions I don't know if this is true, but a reason to integrate an extension into the browser might be to overcome limitations of the extension system and to integrate everything tighter. Just a guess though.
This also removes dependency on Mozilla. Over the years, Mozilla has twice dumped all extensions for “security reasons “. This left a bad taste in my mouth. Floorp seems to be taking design steps to avoid such events in the future.

Unfortunately it's based on Firefox ESR, so say goodbye to all the potential new features for the next 10 months. If it was based on regular Firefox, it would have been my default browser already. I love that it has a portable mode on Windows.

the vertical tab bar is their own implementation, it has nothing to do with tree style tabs. However, it kind of sucks, which is why they recommend you install it
The TST author has jumped through a ton of hoops to minimize the permissions required for the extension. That's why the TST extensions are modular. Furthermore, the TST config export should be cross-platform (OS) and should be something you can integrate into floorp, so long as you've pulled in the extension.

You can have multiple windows with their own tabs, and just let your (tiling)window manager deal with how to display them. Categorize with bookmarks. Block stuff you don't want with extensions. Download things you want to keep forever.

i realy hope someone can make a gecko based browser with Edge's tag grouping feature, i m a twin-browser user and i use Edge exclusively for shopping. tag gouping with vertical tab bar is just way too useful for shopping where a lot of tabs are opened and page title matters.

As far as using Floorp, I think I'll try it, but if anyone could tell me a thing or two I'd appreciate it. One reason I left Firefox was that when using the side-vertical tabs, I couldn't get rid of the top tabs at the same time in order to save some vertical space. Mozilla people said it was coding issues that cause that. Another reason I went with Vivaldi is that I couldn't cast to my TV with Firefox. I found happiness with Vivaldi on these points. Can Floorp do these things?
This looks like a good alternative to Firefox, but not to Vivaldi. The amount of customization I did there can still only be rivaled by the custom css stuff, and that's just not nearly as user friendly, and often more error prone (not that Vivaldi's solution is perfect)
I would expect 2 things on this video to be present. (based on the quality of the content you usually provide) 1. Nobody expects to deep dive on who the devs are, but a mention that it started from Japanese students and at the moment if even have comments from mozilla people. nothing special just what you can find in a 15 minutes of search for an app that you installed on your pc. PLus for projects like this it is a big thing to have this info since it can be what makes it to take off or stay in the niche forever 2. That is uses ESR and not the regular FF version
as a note, mullvad as well as tor use ESR (extend support release) this is compared to librewolf which uses the mainline release, which means it updates much more often (which makes it much harder for someone basing off of librewolf instead of a ESR based browser)

my want list includes tabs stacks located at the bottom of the browser (with url bar at top) and adjustable side pane. I tend to overdo tabs so I hope workspaces is a thing too. This is a browser in the Garuda (Arch fork) distro. I like it well enough that I downloaded it to my QEMU Windows 10 IoT LTSC to try it in a Windows environment. So far, pretty good. I realize this video is half a year in age, so the version I have has Workspaces (although not something I normally use as I don't use Vivaldi or browser extensions to give this capability. Great video, and it was nice to see the developer has chimed in to give a comment.
For me not mater how meny browser and setting i look, firefox is just the one, i never change, i do this when FF was Quantum(shit) for 1 year but then i back and ok.

groups are in sideberry, it just does them in a weird way, it opens a tab internally with the name and a folder favicon, weird but not terrible.
Were you using the Flatpak distribution? I’ve been told that’s the “Lightning Edition”, which has some of the functionality reduced.
Have you tried the Yandex browser? there is a function that translates videos to UA-cam.

There are workspaces in floorp, and you can also collapse the tab bar by turning off the show tab bar switch in settings
I was told about the workspaces. I haven't tried them out yet tho.

1.Firefox my favorite, for general use.
2.Brave as a backup.
3.Chrome (Flatpak) only used for Google Sites (99.9% UA-cam).

also, the UI of each browser is basically a webpage. it's DOM ... all the way down.
I would expect 2 things on this video to be present. (based on the quality of the content you usually provide)
1. Nobody expects to deep dive on who the devs are, but a mention that it started from Japanese students and at the moment if even have comments from mozilla people. nothing special just what you can find in a 15 minutes of search for an app that you installed on your pc. PLus for projects like this it is a big thing to have this info since it can be what makes it to take off or stay in the niche forever
2. That is uses ESR and not the regular FF version
as a note, mullvad as well as tor use ESR (extend support release)
this is compared to librewolf which uses the mainline release, which means it updates much more often (which makes it much harder for someone basing off of librewolf instead of a ESR based browser)
How does floorp compare to mercury? Mercury is based on Firefox ESR, so it's a little outdated.

I think it's a nice browser but I'm also fine with stock firefox workflow and simplicity so I'm sticking with it.

The name doesn't bother me, not being able to hide the sidebar does.
You can do that in the settings, but it's not automatic like Vivaldi.

what's a good alternative to ddg? I've been using it for quite a while, but you're not wrong that it's not a particularly strong search engine. I prefer to avoid Google if possible though.

Yeah, I hope it gets a bit better. They're rewriting the workspaces, so we'll see.
my want list includes tabs stacks located at the bottom of the browser (with url bar at top) and adjustable side pane. I tend to overdo tabs so I hope workspaces is a thing too. I'm in the process of using workspaces and bookmarking everything i had open because I actually managed to slow the browser down with the amount of tabs I have opened . >.> @@TheLinuxCast

My favorite fork of Firefox is Waterfox, It’s tool bars take up the least amount of screen estate which I appreciate coming from Arc browser.

This is a browser in the Garuda (Arch fork) distro. I like it well enough that I downloaded it to my QEMU Windows 10 IoT LTSC to try it in a Windows environment. So far, pretty good.
I realize this video is half a year in age, so the version I have has Workspaces (although not something I normally use as I don't use Vivaldi or browser extensions to give this capability.
Great video, and it was nice to see the developer has chimed in to give a comment.
