I visited Uxmal and Chicken Itza back in 1984. Oddly, I do not remember either being very crowded at all, in fact the lack of people added to the sites wonder. Both were fascinating. There was something special in the feeling of remoteness. I do not know when that photo was taken but very glad to see they are now protected sites. It was one of the most fascinating trips both visually and learning about the Myan civilization. Thanks for this great video.

This and many were built by Egyptians..who long traveled there thousands of years ago..as well as the pyramid hidden in the Grand Canyon in the U.S. it was used to hold large speeches..still brilliant.
It's a shame you went to Chichen Itza and you only show us 'El Castillo', the Ballgame and a cenote... there are more interesting and beautiful places inside the site that worth to visit like 'El Caracol', 'Templo de los guerreros' and 'La Iglesia'. 'Viejo Chichen' is a MUST visiting area
I feel like adding a correction... There is no evidence that either the winners or losers of the ballgame were sacrificed. This is just a really tenacious myth. It's possible that sacrifices were part of some ballgames, since those were big public events, but it was more likely someone who was already going to be sacrificed and not one of the players.
As with most things in history, there are mixed opinions and different takes on this, depending on different sources. We went with the information our local Maya guide gave us and what we most commonly read when researching. Thanks for the input, it’s appreciated!
