That teacher should be in jail! My classroom is a peanut and tree nut free location because I have four students with related allergies. I've actually had to make colleagues remove their peanut/ tree nut containing products from my room when they come for meetings.

      Student here
When I was in elementary school there was a separate table for kids with food allergies and when I was in 5th grade there was a kid in my class with peanut allergies which put regulations on what snacks we could bring in for class parties like one example is that we couldn’t bring it was either little Debbie or hostess(can’t remember which) snacks because they were made in a peanut factory

Just to teach the teacher..put it hing powder in her purse, shoes, sweater when she's not paying attention (which is ALL THE TIME) and curdled milk in her coffee. Just a smidgen of the symptoms of allergies. My sis couldn't seem to remember I was allergic to strawberries, bananas, and kiwis. Had a fruit pizza (cookie crust and all those fruits plus others) at a party and tried to shove some in my mouth, missed and grazed my cheek. Looked like someone had rug-burned me. Under normal circumstances, I usually just breakout ( after a taste or so) but this was all 3 at once. I refused to cover it up with makeup due to possible infection, so she had to look at what she did, and hear about it from friends , fir quite awhile. Never forgot again as far as I know, it's been 5yrs since I have seen her.

I don't think my mom explained it to the teacher, but I hope someone explained to my 7th grade science teacher that inhalers are not in fact "just filled with air", and people who need them are not brainwashed sheep of the government. It was just a random a$s day I don't know what set him off, but he started to rant that sh*t for (to me) no reason. He was going on about stuff like above "inhalers are just full of air", "that the government is making doctors convince us that we need them to get more money out of us", and "if you don't believe me your just one of their brainwashed sheep all you have to do is crack it open one and see it's just full of air". Mind you he was saying this in a room full of kids who wouldn't know any better than to believe their teacher, and where multiple students including me needed and had used inhalers in front of him that year. Thankfully when I got home I was smart enough to double check with my mom, and she cleared up the confusion for me it still pisses us off when we randomly remember it time to time tho.

@@fluffysweaters5634I’m not 100% in terms of full anaphylaxis but I do know that some people that have allergic reactions as kids can indeed grow out of them. One very common one is penicillins. A lot of people have them on an allergen list due to reactions like hives/rashes as a kid and have avoided them into adulthood, but have in fact grown out of them by that stage. That’s not to say that it will happen to everyone though and I’d still recommend getting another allergy test done if suspecting you’ve grown out of an allergen, rather than just blind risking it lol

When i was researching nut allergies, just on the google, there's all kinds of ways to trigger someone's allergies. Like if allergic to peanuts you cant even kiss someone that ate them. If eaten, the only way to make your mouth allergy safe is to wait several hours and eat a safe (no peanuts) meal. At least on surfaces and skin soap and water can clean that sufficiently. I had a friend allergic to nuts is why i needed to know. And that friend couldnt touch my living room window because i put peanuts out for the squirrels and went to wash my hands to keep other surfaces safe but with peanut hands to open and close the window, better just off limits to friend rather than having to clean it every time.

Had a food class high school. During our vegetable and fruit unit the teacher wanted to cook a bunch of vegetables as part of a demonstration.
My friend and kitchen mate was allergic to most orange vegetables one pf which being spaghetti squash which the teacher wanted to make.
She asked if it would be okay for her to make it regulardless of her allergy.
My friend tried to explain that smelling too much of it could cause issues but the teacher said ahe could sit in the back that day and it would 'be a really strong allergy if you couldn't even be in the same room'
Basically pressured her inti asking it was okay.
Worse part? When did the demonstration (the thing my friend was supposed to be in the back for) she had us just push our tables to the edge of the room and gather our chairs in front of the demonstration kitchen
So she didn't even have a chance to move to the back when she'd be at least a little safer.
That teacher also tried to insist cooking an egg in the microwave was perfectly safe (its not dont do it)

I'm allergic to most essential oils. I start coughing, my eyes get watery, and my face gets hot if I'm in a room where they were used. In high school, I did a summer camp, and I saw one of the activities listed was working with essential oils. I emailed the coordinator of the camp to let her know that I couldn't do the activity, and couldn't be in the same room. I sent this email at least a week before the program started, and the activity was scheduled close to the end of the week-long program. So these people had a week and a half to two weeks written notice. About 5 minutes before they plan to do the activity with the essential oils, I'm told that they still don't have a plan for an activity I can do. And it's not like everyone was doing the same activity at once. They had a split up into several groups. And as I stated, they had written communication before the program even started, so they can't tell me they didn't know. I later found out that a couple of the staff members are absolutely horrible to other members of the disabled community, which explains a lot of the weird feelings I got about them.

So as far as I am aware my entire state is peanut free at schools, or at least every district ive ever went to school in has been. The one school that did not adhere to this so strictly had a maximum of 400 students, highschool and ged, and not a single student was allergic to peanuts. I found this out because my principal ate peanut butter straight out the jar as a snack and was unaware my mother was allergic, it was closed but sitting on her desk when my mom arrived for a meeting with her to switch me out of the art class because the class pet was a bunny and im allergic, couldn't be in the same room as the poor thing or my throat would start to get tight. It wasn't in my school record at that point because we didn't know the art teacher had the bunny before I started that simester and saw the cage in the corner of the class. All the other class pets in the entire school were lizards, easy enough to clean up after and pet students handle and only the science teachers and art teacher applied for the grant to get a class pet anyways until ny last year where the school itself applied for a mascot pet that stayed in the hall, a hampster that the shop teacher made an enclosure for. My principal never brought peanutbutter back to the school and retired the end of my graduation year. She lives in my neighborhood and walks her dog past my house every day, love that woman and always respected her

So that teacher saying if you allergic to dog you can only have a reaction if you eat dog? That is the most stupidest thing I have heard on UA-cam shorts

This is the true meaning of disinformation in our life. Teachers are supposed to be educated and know about staff, not spreading disinformation. This could end in someones dead.

Thank god she got fired, she is a danger to children. Please people with no allergies, believe people when they say they are allergic even if you think it's ridiculous.
