I had a wonderful time playing the cornet on this album. Robert and the rest of the crew there were such an awesome group to be around. Being able to feature on an album created by rock legends was an experience I will never forget.
Yea Mark. As any old Crim fan can say..your name is very much recognizable. 'Out of the blue to see your post here. A suggestion: if in the London area go check out a Pete Giles & Yaz gig. Pete gigs. __ As for Robert, its' all just Sunday Brunches with Toyah.
I don't understand why this isn't considered one of the greatest classics? It really sounds like the music that orchestras play in operas, ballets, etc.
Islands really showcases Roberts musical genius. Utilising symphonic themes the way he did. The following 3 Crimson albums show how he was able to use what he learned within an electric setting. The inclusion of David Cross on accustic, and electric violin was truly inspiring.
I just can't believe this is for free. You mean I can just open this website and play it? And that's it? I get to listen to this for FREE???????!!!! God I love this band so much
Esa canción es hermosa una melodía única y de la más tristes que se escuchan. Ideal para despedir a un familiar o conocido, un réquiem para esa persona que quisiste.

prelude means a short song that is played before a longer and more important song, and this song is a prelude because islands follows it (which is 12 minutes) and islands is also the last song on the album
I used to think, that this was indpired by Arvo Pärt "Spiegel im Spiegel", until I found out that this was 7 years earlier. So was Pärt inspired by KC?

Mark, I have always loved the song Sticky Living by BB Blunder, on which you played a big part.
This is a very beautiful piece of music by any standard.. Congratulations for being part of it.. Did Robert do all the arrangement?
It's about Formentera, it was tje first LP I aquired at 14...❤
I always hated islands, just very recently I have discovered the beauty of it, and now it is one of my favorite crimson albums of all time
same thing with me but with red, I honestly can't understand why I didn't see how good it was during the first listen.
It’s my second or third favourite, can’t decide
Same
"hated islands"? as expected of furries
You were an a$$hole, but I dub thee redeemed!👍
I want this to be played at my funeral! So melancolic and yet so much hope for everyone that survives me!
Thank You Robert for giving clearance to the Crimson Jazz Trio to record “Islands “
RIP Ian Wallace
One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever.
So you might appreciate Spiegel im Spiegel by Arvo Pärt as well. It is stunning similar, yet even more intense.
How melancholy can be aesthetically beautiful and make it bearable. KC and the power of music in its version of humanity. Great
:/ I just like the music, I didn’t think it had a meaning.

'Islands' has been a go to record for me from the year it was released. One of my favorites in the catalog no question.
I don't understand why this isn't considered one of the greatest classics? It really sounds like the music that orchestras play in operas, ballets, etc.
Underrated song on an underrated album

This is the sign of the ultimate original music from king Crimson
If there's any doubt that Robert Fripp is a musical genius, I suggest listening to this album!
He's one of the great composers of his time

This was the only album of theirs that I hadn't heard yet and damn, I love this - this is their most beautiful work

This song is made by the same band that made 21st Century Schizoid Man
Also Level Five, Elephant Talk and Red
and heartbeat xd
Hard to believe, isn't it?
タイトル曲もさることながら
この曲もメロディの繊細さ美しさに惹き込まれました
私的にはリザード同様 一連のクリムゾン作品の中では地味なアルバムなのですが
この曲からアイランドへの流れは唯一無二だと思います

Completamente hermoso e infravalorado. ...porque carajos....

Que belleza de canción definitivamente

Max Richter has made an entire career off of music like this! This sounds like half of his score from - "My Brilliant Friend"!
why prelude is in the middle
prelude means a short song that is played before a longer and more important song, and this song is a prelude because islands follows it (which is 12 minutes) and islands is also the last song on the album

This sort of reminds me of the Lord of the Rings soundtrack.
So I'm not the only one who thought that😅
Annoyingly strings and ensemble are uncredited except for Wilf Gibson of ELO on violin.
Lovely piece but out of place on a Crimson album.
Not really out of place, considering there was nothing normal about Crimson.
