I really don't think I'd put bare food on it... especially something like soft cheese. BUT it'd be cute to set smaller dishes on the serving tray with the food.

I would use saran wrap or thin wax paper to protect the food from the paint and the chalk.

what the... first the baking sheet and now this? I like the idea of using the chalkboard paint, but maybe for other things, not for something you r going to put food on. It would have been cool to simulate a chalkboard, but not actually using paint and chalk. I think a safer way is to do this and seal it with something. Of course you couldn't change the design.

Are all of you really that dense? If you don't want to serve raw food on it... don't. You can easily put cupcakes, candies, wrapped treats, or put a little bowl with snacks on top with a message underneath.
