Finally! An appropriate and correct usage example of this amp. I wonder why other reviewers fail to explore this amp's features. Excellent demonstration of various techniques and usage scenarios! Thank you!
I used to own one of these heads in the '80s and one of the dumbest things I ever did was sell it. It was a gorgeous beautiful amazing amplifier. And this is a great video. Thank you very much.

I am really digging sound of the JC-120. I play a classical guitar (made in spain) with an undersaddle pickup. It sounds great on a Fender Blues Deluxe, Frontman 25, Supro Delta King 12 and a Fishman Loudbox Artist. The JC-120 Ive been hearing in the youtube vids have been sounding real good for cleans and the chorus and reverb definitely sounds good in this video. Great job on the EBYT riff.
I just bought a JC120 new - do you notice that when you engage the Vibrato or Chorus that one of the speakers becomes slightly louder than the other? And one of the speakers becomes a bit more hissy? Just wanted to know if this was normal or not
It's a clean monster. Iconic for many 80's songs. The Police, Metallica, One/Nothing Else Matters and more. I played one last night. The Vib. did not do it for me. Yes, using two mics in stereo is the way to go with this amp. Is the smaller one nearly as good? I know the OD is better. JC40. It is cheaper and lighter. 2 10"s vs 2 12"s and much, heavier.
Hi, I didn't really do anything. I don't think when you put a dynamic microphone on the speakers it's really a problem... I use it live and on recordings and they've never complained about the hiss...
Okay, one thing I’m not clear on. I know that chorus is created by blending the dry signal with a pitch modulated signal (signal that has vibrato applied to it). But how does the actual vibrato setting work? Does it disable the dry speaker? Or does it apply the same pitch modulated vibrato to both speakers?
That pitch modulation is actually phase modulation. The difference in phase between the dry and wet signals results in the chorus effect. When you pan left for one signal and right for the other, it creates a wide stereo effect with lots of motion.
@ Yes, I know how the chorus is created by a blending of the vibrato signal from one speaker mixed with the dry signal from the other speaker, but what I’m asking is when you set the amp to the vibrato setting, does it send the vibrato signal to both speakers to eliminate the dry signal, or does it eliminate the dry signal altogether from the second speaker, effectively only outputting a signal (with vibrato) to a single speaker.

Hello! Do you pan the channels in your DAW when you record with 2 mics or just stay at Center ?
Panned slightly
@@AlbertoMartinezDelRio thanks a lot 🙏
Any chance you have your UAD console settings posted anywhere? This sounds so good!

Totally normal. Mine Does it too
Ok, thanks for letting me know!
There's a delay somewhere when you play Every Breath You Take ?
Yes, a little slap back
Andy had skin with Sting on that song but that Roland made some awesome sounds.
Yeah!
Genial! como paneas en el stereo los dos micros segun lo que se escucha a partir de 3:13?
Hola 👋🏻 no recuerdo exactamente pero diría entre un 30 y un 50 de paneo a cada lado

I have never tried the jc40
How did you get the hiss to go away? I have a mid 80’s JC 120 and the hiss never stops. It’s even worse when plugged into a mixer or external speaker
Hi, I didn't really do anything. I don't think when you put a dynamic microphone on the speakers it's really a problem... I use it live and on recordings and they've never complained about the hiss...
Suena precioso éste ampli.
Así es, eso creo.
Hello, I have an old jc120 and I’ve alway mic mine stereo but what are you doing at the end?
Plugin’ the channel together?
Yes. You can bridge the two channels and in this way combine the sections of eq, volume, bright, etc...
yes
Does recording the same amp not cause phasing issues?
It sounds good to me.
Great job,...
Thank you!
thanks!
Great video tks
🙏🏻
when it's two mics, are they panned left and right? or both set to center?
Panned
panned
Wish I knew all this
Thanks for comment
with two microphones sounds great
Two better than one
What year is your jc120?
Circa 2008 but i’m not sure. Made in Japan
Around 2008

…Was that beginning jingle from the DuckDuckGo commercial?
It is 'Every Breath You Take' by The Police (1983).
